Sure makes me feel better reading Metatron's prognostications. In the southwest (Vegas) they already use a MORMAN college auditorium for their assemblies and their publishers travel 2 hrs. e/way. Must be one lucrative deal for the cult. Hard to believe.

Could The Watchtower and Awake Collapse?
by metatron inthis is not a prophesy, folks, but rather a train of thought to pursue about the organization, especially in light of its recent legal problems.. could the magazines collapse?
the watchtower is published in 188 languages?
and the awake a rather huge number as well?.

Most of us are naturally spiritual at some level.
by mankkeli inmost humans seem to crave some sort of spirituality at some level.
natural selection would favor it for certain reasons.
chimpanzees have sometimes been known congregate and dance around waterfalls for no apparent reason.

No part of the world
by irondork inbe no part of the world.
friendship with the world is enmity with god.. perhaps it is some lingering indoctrination talking, but i dont want to be friends with most everyone i meet out there.
granted i work in a rough-neck environment and it is mostly through my employment that i come in contact with others, but im not like them and i cant see myself hanging out in their living rooms and i don't want their filthy mouths in mine.. i dont smoke, i dont cuss, i dont talk about pussy all the time (actually, none of the time).

irondork -- i really appreciate your post/subject. it is very difficult and the Bible admonishes to have no association with those in darkness or evil people (but evil is different from those who are self-destructive/ignorant of God's laws) and i've heard preachers (tv/radio) give advice as makshym as well as running from worldly people -- go figure!! i never could understand the watchtowers' rule knowing those inside (for the most part) weren't any better than those in the world. i'm confused myself. i agree w/maksym, be a light/love in the world and this is easier said than done (guess this is where the torture stake comes in and to love our enemies).
there are people in the world and watchtower who don't abuse themselves with smoking, drinking/drugging, etc., but are abusive/evil to others. i hear acquaintances in volunteer/charity groups express how difficult it is -- yrs. doing charity work and never really becoming good friends, having good association, w/others. there's a book called "Safe People" that has some good advice/guidelines that might help.
someone mentioned meetup groups (find an interest) and i think this is great advice. i don't think ex-jw meetup groups are available in all cities but there are a variety of others --- Bible study groups and even co-ed groups organized under 12-step formats called something like "healthy relationships" you might look into.

Is homosexuality ever justifiable? I say YES!!!
by TimothyT inin the january 2012 awake, pages 28-29 there is another article about homosexuality.. .
the writers argue that genetics, the environment, and sexual abuse do not justify homosexuality.
the bible clearly states that homosexuality is wrong and is an abhorrent sin.

straighshooter --- a couple of the docs i've known in the cult have to keep care (medically) of these ole circuit overseers and are dependent on the docs, trust me. i'm sure they receive a little chunk change from the docs (to go away). They did not want to promote them on the JW ladder yrs. ago but today are desperate for any one breathing.
i doubt the old goats are running anything but hope it crashes in spite of the professionals' business expertise.

Luke 21:8 - Who Should We Really Avoid?
by Darth Rutherford inluke 21:8 - who should we really avoid?.
in his sign of the last days, jesus warned his followers: look out that you are not misled; for many will come on the basis of my name, saying, i am he, and, the due time has approached.
(luke 21:8) jesus provides clues that help us identify who to avoid.

Wonderful news about Ali....and something to warm your heart
by coffee_black inas i have posted, my daughter ali has been in the cardiac intensive care unit since thursday.
her bp, heartrate and blood sugar went sky high, due to horrible coughing spells from a chest cold that left her gasping for air.. she has congestive heart failure, and has been treated for almost a year now.
she has improved over that year, but this was a real setback.. ali called me today with amazing news.

DESIGNS --- ARMAND HAMMER made money in Russia? His American Oil Co. (Occidental Petroleum) hit it big in LIBYA --- and at one time this co. owned 98% of the country's oil. His company grew food for the Libyans and owned/manufactured Best Fertilizer. In the 70's his oil co. was the only American oil co. that could travel/explore in Russia (his mother was Russian born) but never heard of them striking it rich (employees were hoping) like Libya -- he may have become wealthy from his supplying them w/medical supplies they desperately needed.

Hard to believe your dear Mom had to feed these parasites. Sick religion demanding/expecting women to prepare meals for their employees when the congregation should have been caring for your mother and and her children. Gotta luv the way the religion uses people and how society ignores their own.
Your mom was too kind and giving.
Happy for you and all your education/accomplishments --- all you do for people.

palmtree67 -- Puck's restaurant at Mandalay is Italian, Trattoria del Lupo, and it's excellent. wolfgang brought chefs in from the Tuscan region of Italy to train/implement the food. It's delicious, great pasta and good fish, too -- ahhh, had wonderful PIZZA there.
Mix (restaurant) at the top of the Mandalay (or at least go to the bar --- even better view than the restaurant) has an incredible view of the strip.
Mandalay also has the hamburger place (gourmet burgers) where anything imaginable can be put on -- usually there's a line.
whatwasithinking --- Ellis Island used to fly in fresh clam chowder for tailgate parties at the UNLV football games --- so delicious.
