i grew up in the mormon state, so i can attest this as true.
the state bird is the seagull, a disgusting, bullying, messy and annoying scavenger.
there are zillions of seagulls around the great salt lake, just a few miles north of salt lake city.. why is it the state bird and why does killing one of those flying rodents bring on a fine of $100?
A college professor told the class Mormans were so ignorant re/farming they had to bring the limees (sp?) over from England to teach them about agriculture and how to farm and grow food. I relayed to my Morman friend and it didn't go over well.
Interesting about the seagulls. Just returned from beach and they do seem aggressive and always begging.
it's been quite a while since i posted here... so hello everyboday!.
this time of year is always an interesting one for me emotionally.
my parents anniversary, which we all know was the one thing anyone ever celebrated, is two days after my birthday.
I've no family of origin in the borg but have a couple of my very own inside the cult but know the pain of rejection/abandonment, jealousy, evil, from my own mother and sibling. All I can say is time helps but the hardest thing for me was accepting the PAIN will always be there and it will never go away --- you learn to live with it and all of a sudden you get stronger and stronger and it's not so intense or devastating.
I know some 12-step programs (co-dependency meetup group under cOda.org. for your city's listing) been helpful for some and they meet others who are striving to live/deal w/their families or other relationships.
I have a book in mind and will try to remember which one --- or a chapter in one that really helped me the most -- I think the greatest pain is accepting and giving up your fantasies for a mommy/daddybear family that loves you, cares for you regardless of the cult and giving of that fantasy means pain, real pain as you are finding out. You have to give up HOPE and that's the hardest thing in life to do.

the jw pedophile database would be an amazing thing to have, but to obtain it illegally would prevent it ever from being used as evidence and would hurt the case of many abuse survivors.

reading the recent thread about the young lady who just ended her life got me thinking that maybe there could be a thread that is easily accessible to anyone who may need help due to homelessness from losing their families and friends to shunning.
too often i hear stories about people who have lost everything, and have no where to go, and at the same time having no type of support system.
unfortunately there are some who are so lost that they feel that there are no options besides taking their own life.. i think that a website that matches people in need to others who can help in some way would be a great idea.
So many giving hearts onboard --- you are special, Ohio.
I know there are programs in various cities that offer assistance to teens on the streets/homeless. Some charitable orgs. contribute generously to this cause .

the basic problem in human relationship is that of freedom.
LHGal --- I, too, stayed on the fringe but married w/unbelieving mate never to ever be a witness --- thankfully. I was actually further away from center than fringe. I heard from more than one married sister how uncomfortable the single sisters made them feel. I could not believe what they were saying being married to a xtian and all. One of them told me they didn't trust one particular single sister around her husband. I can only imagine how you felt.

so... i am coming to the conclusion that pretty much all of the doctrinal stuff that i have believed for 25/30 years is built on a house of cards and it's about to come crashing down.

Now this is hearsay of an experiment done on ex-prisoners who became xtians that were tracked for many yrs --- not 3 or 5 but something like 20+ yrs. and didn't end up back in the slammer. I couldn't believe!
King Sol -- attys. and crim. lawyers would agree w/you about them being saved and seeing the light inside -- they chuckle at that one. I've only known 2 people who were in jail (fortunately), an ex hairdresser and a domestic worker (housekeeping) who became professed xtians and one of them was staging/playacting and the other may have cleaned up alittle. I guess it's a big crap shoot.
If we are born with a moral compass why such evil --- because of the strong animal traits we possess as humans, I'm assuming and the compass is weak -- no, wait, that's the flesh.
I'm not saying many haven't been changed by following Christ's wisdom but there are certainly some bad pew potatoes out there but maybe they're trying and change takes time/difficult.

Really, Botzwana about Frank Lloyd Wright/WOW! Not too many people can say that. My fav house is that one that's in the movie --- don't remember the name. Think artists have even painted it or I've seen pictures of paintings of it.
