just the point that they say that the "soul" is mortal. they love ezekial 18:4, the soul that is sinning it itself will die. but the new world translation also has that info in the appendix that I pasted above, which includes the thought that Jehovah has soul or a soul, surely in at least that case a soul is indeed immortal.

generation teaching reconsidered
by inbetween inwas thinking about this new generation teaching, and to some extend it makes sense, let me explain.. first of all, i personally believe, it only applied to jesus time, it only made sense there, and when jesus talked about it, in the year 33, this generation certainly observed the events leading to jerusalems destruction 70 ce.
( even though the context does not really give much hint, since he talks about the sign of the son of man being seen in heaven etc, something that did not happen in the first century).
the main question is, what is a generation ?.

of the seventh creative day or sabbath, it is therefore calculated that the end of the first 6,000 years of this 7,000-year-long day will take place in the year 1975. since the last thousand years of this seventh day are to be occupied entirely by the millennial reign of christ, it follows that the year 1975 will witness the battle of armageddon and the ushering in of the long awaited new world under the king jesus christ.. i have searched through pdf scans of 1966 and in fact all 1960s issues looking for this.

it was during a co's visit, he got up on the platform, and made it absolutely clear that the only way to get into paradise was to be a baptised jw (he had a letter from the borg saying this).
i was confused by this, and the next day i was set to work with him in the ministry.

Any person without the mark will be executed?
by ldrnomo inthe daily text for today is a good way to show dubs that you talk to that everyone except jehovah's witnesses will be destroyed.
i have found that when i do get a chance to say something to a dub about this they usually say "we don't judge so we can't say who will be destroyed" the borg was kind enough to put it in writing for me:.

Young people (JW's) don't get married so that they can have sex. They get married so that they can escape domineering parental control. Everything in their lives is controlled and forced upon them and they crave for some sanity in their lives. Those that survive the "young" married years often do okay and if they get out of the cult together flourish.
