Anyone a fan of the KLF / Bill Drummond
by jimakazi ini am currently on the track of music by the klf, having just got everything associated with pink floyd.
is anyone else a fan of klf, hell as any one else even heard of them?.
what makes this a challenge is that bill drummond and jimmy cauty, who formed the kopyright liberation front, distroyed their entire back catalogue some years ago about the same time as they burnt 1,000,000 pounds as a work of art.

I'm into music. Just had a styx DVD turn up today and am listening to it now. I have strangely diverse musical tastes - Linkin Park, The Prodigy, AC/DC, Dido, Black Eyed Peas, ELO, Depeeche Mode, Massive Attack, Faithless, Radio Head, Cold Play, Styx, Journey, Def Leopard, Genesis, Simply Red - I could go on but I won't.

I don't think US tax payer money should be taken for this type of thing . If they have it to give away then they have it to give back to the american impoverished .
Perhaps just those US tax payers who have in-directly benefited from the slave labour of African American? What the US can do that would be the most help is support free trade. These days it seems that on one hand the US supports free trade, then as soon as some special interest lobby group is affected there is some penalty applied to make the overseas product less attractive. Or the offer of free trade get used as a tool to change policy - for instance NZ has one of the most unregulated and free market economies in the world, but we do not have a free trade agreement with the US, [a] because it is of more value to NZ than the US [for example the US lamb farmers do not want to compete with our product, [b] because we will not allow nuclear powered ships to visit - this is the "policy difference" that is indirectly referred too, [c] we allow parellel imports.

Visiting JW parents... should i be evil?
by jimakazi inmy family and i will be visitng my parents this weekend.
they do not shun us and are in their mid 60's.
while i'd get satisfaction out of sharing some of the information i've discovered here i don't know that this would be the best thing for them - their whole life and friends are the local jw congregation.

I think you are right - would it do them mor eharm than good- the opportunity to change things is now passes - they are retired. The only up side would be my dad not thinking he is a failure because both sons have given up the 'truth'.
really hard for them to make this massive agitating change
By the way i raised with them that I can't beleive Lions will eat grass, or that you can't have a soul, or that they should not ban celebration of birthdays. But before I didn't have at my finger tips well arcticulated information, in an easy to print form.

They also have a number of names; 2k, K Foundation, the JAMS, the Justified Ancients of Mu Mu. I've ordered JAMS - "Bastard", and 2K - "F*** the Millenium" which should arrive in a week or two.
Does anyone else have an obsession to get something you have been told you can't have?

I don't know if after 35 years wasted inthe borg they would appreciate finding out it was reallt a waste of their time - if only I'd found this stuff out 20 years ago!

What have you gained?
by bagpuss inits two years since i last attended a meeting or thought of myself as a jw.
despite the prophesys of doom and gloom for those who leave the org i have gained lots and lost nothing.. i have much more time to spend with my husband which has led to our relationship improving fantastically.. i have a better relationship with my children who stopped going to meetings when they were teenagers.. i have become much closer to my family (i've just returned from yorkshire from my great nephews 1st birthday party.
my confidence has grown dramatically as i no longer view myself as worthless.. the guilt of not doing enough has gone.. i now have real friends.. the list goes on, but i really would like to hear what you've gained or hope to gain by leaving the borg.

Rugby: Lions or All Blacks?
by jimakazi inare there any brits [english, irish, welsh, or scotts = the lions ] on the site partial to the game of rugby?
for those with no idea what rugby is - it's a little like american football, without the stops, without the protective gear, played in winter, in the rain, hail and sleet [well last saturday anyway].
15 players to a side on the field at a time [unless someone is yellow cards or red carded].

As well as being a man's sport the Rugby world cup actually has other countries involved!
There is a womans team as well - one of my wifes friends played in the team.
