Resurection with no Soul

it always puzzeled me how a person could be resurected it there were no soul.. if it is just a clone with your memories then it is not you - or is it.

are we no more than our memories?.

assuming as the jw's do that there is no soul or life essesnce that leaves the body and can be restored.

Assuming as the JW's do that there is no soul or life essesnce that leaves the body and can be restored. The creating another body having my memories implanted isn't much of a benefit if I die is it.

It seems ironic that the JW's pin so much store on a resurection that to my way of thinking will only wotk if there is a soul. Even my father has had to conceed that of there must be something, "a life spark" [can't call it soul], that returns to Jehovah, and that this is what Jehovah would use to resurect people.

So if we have a soul it may be very much like the memory in a computer, useless without hardware or a body. Personally I have no idea at all if we do or don't. I just can't see that the JW's can have 1 without the other.

It's the sort of terrible thing that happens all too often to anybody. What I find terible is that witnesses WILL take comfort that those who die have basically got an express ticket to the new order via a resurection. I have heard witnesses say when non witnesses die - "Well at least they will be in the order" - like it's a good thing they have done by dying.

Pink Floyd reformed and playing at the London Live 8 concert

my all time favorite band pink floyd has reformed - with roger waters too - for the live 8 concert.. as a teenage i used to chill out to the floyd.

the song "comfortably numb" somehow resonates with me.

anyway live 8 starts in an hour or so [1 am nz] and i'll be up all night enjoying it.

You are right "Another brick in the wall" could be likened to the JW's.

The song "Mother" with lyrics like "Mother shall I build a wall?" also could be likened to what the JW's want it's members to do.

for those with no idea what rugby is - it's a little like american football, without the stops, without the protective gear, played in winter, in the rain, hail and sleet [well last saturday anyway].

15 players to a side on the field at a time [unless someone is yellow cards or red carded].

The tackle on the Lions captain happened, but deliberate? no way - not Umaga. The IRB independantly decided there was nothing to answer, but then it was a great way for the Lions Spin doctor to take the attention off the Lions performance. If it was ment to un-nerve the All Blacks it din't work. Maybe the Lions will send the spin doctor home now - he can go back to politics.

I can't claim to be unbiased in this though - Umaga is not only captain of the All Blacks, he's captain of the regional Supper 12 team, the Hurricains, and Captain of the local Wellinton NPC team - also known as the Lions. He is a local Hero.

I think you would find if we lost Carter we have others almost as good waititng for their chance. The Super 12 [now to be Super 14] is I guess the equivalent of the 6 nations, played between South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand and it builds up some very skilled players. What I left out of the game review was this:

In a week where Clive Woodward had plunged as low as you get in a disgraceful attempt at character assassination of the All Blacks captain, this was the sweetest of replies. And Umaga, who kept his dignity throughout as the spin was flying round his ears, played no small part himself with the sort of lead-from-the-front effort that was the perfect response.

Anyway the teams lined up and clapped each other off in the end which was a nice touch. And even better the Lions supporters are a great bunch of people - they certainly know how to have a good time - win or lose.

The All Blacks, sparked by one of the great individual displays by first five Dan Carter, have buried Clive Woodward's men 48-18 in a series-clinching victory in Wellington.

This week the Lions offered more. A lot more. They produced a committed and passionate performance, but were once again played off the park by a New Zealand side that gathered their poise after having to absorb a lightning strike from the Lions.

The All Blacks' cause was aided by a quite special display from Carter. It was so good, the Lions might well have been blinded by the glare of his brilliance as he amassed 33 points from five penalties, two fine tries and a quartet of conversions. So good, in fact, that it may well go down as the greatest of All Blacks performances in the No 10 jersey. It was assuredly of that class.

Carter set all sorts of records with his personal haul, as did his team who became the first side in the history of the Lions to post more than 40 points against them in a test match.

A much better start

The Lions, under huge pressure to win this match to stay alive, made a brilliant start, with a try to skipper Gareth Thomas inside the first minute for a 7-0 lead.

But it wasn't to last

But in a furious opening half, with tempers threatening to boil over on a number of occasions, the New Zealanders worked their way back into the match to regain the ascendancy via a couple of Dan Carter penalties and then scored a stunning try on the 18-minute mark through their own captain, Umaga. Umaga sparked the move when Thomas turned ball over on attack, fed the wonderful Carter who carved up a huge run upfield where he embarrassed both Gavin Henson and Shane Williams on defence and then fed his skipper beautifully for the finish.

Carter's conversion put the All Blacks out to 13-7, before Jonny Wilkinson got the Lions back in it with a couple of penalties to Carter's one. But there was time for one more before the break, the home side working a nice move from an attacking scrum to give left winger Sitiveni Sivivatu enough space wide for the finisher extraordinaire to step beautifully between Wilkinson and Williams for his sixth try in just three tests.

That made it 21-13 and that's the way it stayed till the break, with the All Blacks also losing second five Aaron Mauger to what looked like a hamstring injury late in the piece.
Any Lions hopes of working back into this match were killed four minutes after the restart when Carter notched a quite special try. Umaga sparked the move that saw Rodney So'oialo put the No 10 into some space, with his chip and chase with almost no margin of error being executed to perfection.

A lead of 31-13 meant that was pretty much that, though Carter had time to add a second, when he stepped inside Thomas with two men outside him to finish one of many sweeping All Black attacks and before it was said and done McCaw powered over in a maul to complete the ignominy.

Carter was the star of the show. No doubt. But the priceless Umaga was right up there, so too McCaw and halfback Byron Kelleher, under pressure, also showed there is life after Justin Marshall. At the end of a week when Woodward and his PR machine said plenty, the All Blacks had the last, and loudest, word.

At least the party in Wellington tonight will be enjoyed by the supporters of both camps.

Celebration of holidays is fun, JW's are a no fun zone.

They have some other so called 'reasons' but in the end the GB have forgotten what fun was, and if they can't have fun by god no one else will. Now why are all the kids leaving...?

Why was Jonny playing center?Where was Hensen??

Do you think he was fooling with us? Hensen deserved to be there, after all wasn't it the Welsh who won the 6 nations this year, so why were the majority of the players fnot from Wales?

Anyway we are looking forward to a much better game this Saturday.

I just got home from downtown Weelington and the place is starting to rock - litterally, they have closed off the centre of town, there are dj's setting up, and a big truck is parked across the street [blocking it] with a massive video screen. There are Lions supoporters everywhere [all in red] and all black supporters [all in black]. And this was just 8pm - god knows what it willbe like by 11pm tonight. I't going to be a party no matter who wins.
