When I heard talk 3 this week I also couldnt believe the contradiction . The title of this talk was: "Why Resurrected Ones Will Not Be Condemned for Their Past Deeds (rs p.338 ¶ 1)". The sister giving the talk here made it clear that once you die your sin has been forgiven. Romans 6:7: “He who has died has been acquitted from his sin.” Thus those who formerly practiced bad things will not be “judged individually according to their deeds in their past life.” The very next verse she read out was: Rev. 20:12, 13: “I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and scrolls were opened. But another scroll was opened; it is the scroll of life. And the dead were judged out of those things written in the scrolls according to their deeds. . . . They were judged individually according to their deeds.” Shouldnt we believe what the Bible says on this subject over what the WT what us to believe. I honestly think that this glearing contradiction went straight over the top of all those in the hall listening to this talk.

DC-i miss the good old days when everybody had sunday and thurdsday mtg.. (hotel issues)
by ?me? init seems that the poor congregations with thursday or even friday meeting are getting screwed out of any decent hotels near the dc venue.
all those were gone within a couple of hours.
the tuesday meetings took all the great hotels while the others get the nice suburb hotels 15-30 miles away.

2014 DC: Fewer, but larger venues in the U.S.
by doinmypart inin the u.s. there are fewer venues this year, but they will be held in larger facilities.
as long as i can remember my family travelled no more than 2 hours to attend and in the last few years the dc was local (within a few minutes travel).
this year my family is driving 6 hours to a major u.s. city.

Maybe my memory is playing tricks, but wasn't one of the principle reasons that the weekly group Bible study was cancelled after 60 years, to save the brothers fuel costs and travelling?
Yes, that was one of the reasons that was used when the home bible study arrangement was changed, then when the new bible study carrangement came into effect, we had many letters read to us telling us that petrol prices were not the reason for the change.
By the way, here in New Zealand, we normally travel 500kms to the DC but this year we are travelling closer to 1000kms, not very impressed! and this time the DC going to be a video feed from Aus.

About once a year I get to attend a meeting in an isolated area of this country where there are only 2 elders and about 10 pubs. Around about 20 total in attendance, it was a joy to see sisters not only on the microphones, but also controlling the sound mixer. So sisters do have these so called privileges only when there are not enough brothers.

My NWT 2013
by BluesBrother inwoo hoo .
at the meeting last week i was handed a new silver-grey deluxe bible nwt 2013. after months of them being a drooled over item only enjoyed by the elite, now they were handing them out wholesale.. i have to say that it is a handsome volume with its silver page edges, twin page marker and flexible cover .
i am not ungrateful and i say thank you watchtower since they did not ask any money and will not get a contribution.. what do i think of it ?

Having had this version now since its release, I am also finding new wording at each meeting, mostly for the better. I am also with you when it comes to the page contents at the top of each page, they were a great help with finding Scripture locations, I get lost too easy now.
I wonder if anyone has got a word by word comparsion of both NWT editions yet?

I see in next weeks WT study (Dec 15th 2013) they are comparing "higher education" (your Career) with the "highest form of education" (Theocratic Ministry School).

Advertising the District Assembly on the Radio
by RubaDub inis this just a local practice to south florida or is it done in other areas too?.
i'm driving to work last week and on one of the most popular radio stations (primarily talk and politics) they were advertising the district assembly in west palm beach florida for next week.. it was about a 30 second spot and was the typical "everyone is invited ... no collections taken" .... etc.
etc.. is this common in other areas ???.

What I find interesting is this, The month leading upto these conventions we are inviting everyone (non witness's) by offering special invitations to attend. But what is one of the first announments you hear when the day starts. "No recordings of this convention are to be made available to the public".

Education Double Standard
by Tech49 inthis is the kind of thing that really burns me.. .
wtbts holds out an extreme double standard in regards to education.
most, if not all, of you know how they feel about obtaining an education past high school (in the u.s.).

We recently had the CO visit, as per usual, he touched on the subject of Higher Education. This time the reason we don't need a higher education, is because we won't be needing it in the new system, and this is so close now. I can think of many other things that the WBTS make us do now, that wont be needed in the new system. An other thing the CO told us is that no body can make anyone go to meetings...so why do they make us feel guilty if we don't go to a few meetings?

Mathematical equation for working out witness divorce rate using the national average.
by joe134cd inhi folks.
i have noticed that there is a lot of speculation on how well witness perform in marriage.
there is a simple equation that can be used as a guide to work this out.

This is interesting because 10 years ago we had a high percentage of divorces in our congregation; all within 18 months, these were divorces were where both parties were baptized publishers. This is the way I worked out the percentage rate. There were 5 divorces and because all parties were baptized, I used the total number of married couples (25) where both members were baptized publishers in our congregation. (I’m not including marriages or divorces where a non believer is involved). In fact there are fewer divorces with a non believer involved. So 5 divorces is 20% of the 25 marriages. I remember at a book study one night back then, where an old faithful sister asked the book study elder why so many divorces were happening in the congregation. His answer was that compared to the world, this is still a very low number. I just shook my head in disbelief and the old sister brought his answer.
Even before and after that time frame, there have been divorces in this congregation and other nearby congregations. So comparing this rate with the world, the congregation percentage is not looking to good. And that is here in New Zealand.
