I guess I would be one of those! Why, because I believe it more to be true in my heart and more open to our own feelings and allows our own life to connect with it, and not to be connected to something stubborn in views. I consider myself to be Wiccan, and I do not see anything wrong with that in and way. Although, I do not consider myself to be all right on the issue and willing to listen and learn. Unless it is Christianity! I tend to be negative with that.

How many exJWs are now pagan? Why?
by Sirona ini was just wondering how many exjehovahs witnesses are now pagan?
of the exjws i've met, quite a few either describe themselves as pagan or pretty much have "pagan" type religious views.. i wonder if it is a backlash against the control of the jws - to choose a religion which has "no rules" as such.
also, is it rebellion?

Good question. I never heard of the site, until it was mentioned on another thread. I too was wondering, why it was created? Was it for the purpose of promoting the Witness religion or for taking it down?

It's what were trained to do? You can not take a life time of training and expect those traits to disappear, just because we turned to the dark side of the force. After all, Darth Vader still fights using his Jedi skills!
May the force be with you!

4) If this isn't in the "Private" section of the forum, it should be.
I knew a Witness once who believed the religion was so important that he just knew the FBI had files on everyone of them. He even thought black cars were tracking them in field service and thought one of his Return Visits was asking to many questions to be real and stopped going back, and when the guy moved a month later, he thought that was proof enough. Personally, I think the organization cares about as much for this site, as the FBI care about the Witnesses. -

If the Watchtower is so protective of its material, why doesn't it keep it to itself? If their literature is so confidential why does it have JW's trudge from door to door trying to "place" it in the people's hands? Years from now they will be embarrassed by what they pass off as truth today. No wonder they don't want people to know what they wrote in the past! It's not about copyright. They don't want the public to see this info, pure and simple. They can't take justified criticism, but they love to dish it out to other religions.
If musicians are so protective of their music, why do they sue people for copying it? If authors like JK Rowling are so strict with use of Harry Potter items, why did she write and release her books about Harry Potter. This is where copyright comes into play, you see, we have the ability to say what we want and if we want those statements protected, we copyright it. Remember, a copyright is only as powerful as your willingness to fight it. Some people get copyrights, get infringed on, and do nothing. Why? They can not afford the battle in court. Her is an example from my own life.I worked for a company in my young Witness days that built an item used in logging. The man who owned the rights was an ass, total ass. He had a guy on the other side of the country building something that was kind of close, but not really even the same product as ours. He was afraid this guy would hurt his business, so he sued him for copyright infringement. He did not just do this once, but rather he did it over and over again. Until this man who was a small time business closed his doors and gave up. Not because he did what he was accused of, and he never lost in court, he just could not afford to do battle in court with his limited amount of income and did not want to die a poor man.
Is quoting the Bible subject to copyright too?
Depends on what version you quote. The NEW WORLD TRANSLATION is copyrighted. Although, with so many versions out there that sound like it, you would have to show a large percentage to be shown as copying the NWT. The Watchtower sues people over their works all the time. They are very protective. Which is normal for any organization that shows cult like traits.

You know, Witnesses haven't cornered the market on being wrong.
by free2beme ini have been out of the witness religion since the 1990's and i see from reading former witness sites that it is common for people to do something i used to do.
which was that i made a big deal out of all the wrong things the witnesses did and do.
i thought it was some how my responsiblity to tell others when i had the chance, and even when i made the chance, about all the things i knew.

your mind may be closed to the reality that it is a C U L T
I wouldn't need any enlightenment on that subject of what the Witnesses are, but at the same time, I also see all religions as showing cult traits and the Witness to me rank very low on the level of cults that destroy and control people's lives. Not that they are some harmless organization, but they're not asking people to drink poison punch and lighting fire to their bunk house. The reason, we all, have a more emotional connection to liking the title C U L T, is because it was the one we were part of.

Yes, but it does not make me think "end of the world", rather it makes me realize how extreme people can be and thus it keeps my gaurd up.

I often try not to have to personal of contact online, been burned before with the internet, that way you just come in and have some fun and leave when you want and return when you want and no one makes a big deal of it. Let face it, no one is actually further then a mouse click away from returning. Although, spending time on sites like this can be very time consuming and that is why I don't do anything other then the drop in for some quick thoughts posting habits.

But wait, this is Canada, shouldn't that make a difference? http://www.whatiscopyright.org/ ... also mentioned the following ... awesome site by the way on copyrights, I thought the information the guy shared was great. Of course, he will probably sue this site now for having a link to his page.
International Copyrights.
There are no "international copyrights" that enable you protect your work throughout the world. However, most countries are members of the Berne Convention and the Universal Copyright Convention (UCC), which allow you to protect your works in countries of which you are not a citizen or national. Under these treaties, the following works may be protected: (i) both unpublished and published works of an author who is a national or resident of a country that is a member of these treaties; or (ii) published works, with permission, of an author who is not a national or resident of a country that is a member of these treaties. In this case a work may be considered simultaneously published in several countries if it has been published in two or more Berne Union countries within 30 days of its first publication.
To benefit from the above protection, there are no formal requirements established in the Berne Convention other than having the author's name on the work. Under the UCC, a copyright notice is required. This notice should consist of the copyright symbol "©" accompanied by the year of first publication and the name of the copyright owner, for example: Copyright © 2002 John Smith. This notice is to be placed in such manner and location as to give reasonable notice of the claim to copyright.
So, what does this mean? Well, if John Smith is a resident of Canada (member of the treaties), and if somebody in the United States (also a member country) accesses John Smith's website, which complies with (i) and (ii) above and displays the proper notice of Copyright © 2002 John Smith (as required by the UCC) - I am of the opinion that my work is considered to be "published", and therefore protected, in the United States as well as in Canada.Fear not site admins! http://www.whatiscopyright.org does say this!
If you'd like to link to http://www.whatiscopyright.org so that others may learn of copyrights you are welcome to do so
