I do not see them as victims, any more so then anyone who makes a decision to do something as an adult. Children have to do what their parents tell them, while under their roof and when they grow up, they can choose to leave. Although, to some degree the children are often pressured to do things they do not want to do. Example; not celebrate holidays, no sports, etc. Yet, children from all types of families have gripes of what they were restricted on and when they grow into adult years, they can make changes. As adults though, the Witnesses are a selection they made and if they choose to stay, let them. I have a mother, sister, and in-laws that are all still Witnesses and none of them act like victims. Rather they act like normal Witnesses, content and waiting for the end. The faith they have it in that false hope, is no different then all the false hopes other religions teach their followers. So victims???? No!

Do you see the average Jehovahs Witness as a victim...?
by trevor ini think most of us appreciate the difference between the tyrannical watchtower society and the average sheep like followers who make up the congregations.
we have been jehovahs witnesses so we know how brainwashed they are.
i am interested in knowing how you feel towards jehovahs witnesses individually and whether you hold them accountable.

Did God ever grant what you asked for in prayer?
by JH ini was an active witness, and i didn't feel as if god granted anything i asked for in prayers.
i didn't ask anything out of the ordinary.
since the witnesses say that they are god's followers and that he blesses them, i wonder in what way he blesses individuals when they pray?.

Have you or would you relocate 4 love ?
by oldflame inyou know, i never thought that i could meet someone so much like me.
but i did and right here at jwd, we only live a couple thousand miles from each other but i feel driven to relocate.
not tomarrow or anything sudden but the thought of someone who you know deep inside is you're perfect match is so far away, what else is there to do ?.

I would, if it meant happiness with someone you love. My only concern would be how strong the relationship is. As many people do relocate, only to have a weak relationship that finds them left alone in an area they do not know or do not have connections within. So often they end up back where they were from, before leaving.

Do you like this when it happens to you?
by free2beme ini have been on message boards for years, not so much former witness boards, but political or even just general topics.
in so doing, something always happens and i wonder if i am the only one who finds this annoying.. you type something, perhaps a topic or a response and you don't think it is all that important to check all spelling and make sure grammar is perfect.
after all, it's not school anymore and we are not being graded.

Thanks for the responses. I think it is just about the most annoying thing in the world on internet message boards, to see your spelling or grammar corrected, and I am glad to see I am not alone in my feelings. I know it will still happen and since we all come from different backgrounds and internet activity, it is interesting to see it happens everywhere and in different levels of extremes.

My uncle spent time in prison, rather then going to war. I know some might have gone, but also keep in mind that the organization was far smaller back then and comparing your thought to modern numbers would not make sense or equal the amount you might think.

You type something, perhaps a topic or a response and you don't think it is all that important to check all spelling and make sure grammar is perfect. After all, it's not school anymore and we are not being graded. You look back at your thread, hoping to see some responses that answer the question or comment on your thoughts. You scroll down and see these good responses and think about ways you can respond and then there it is ....
SOMEONE CORRECTING YOUR SPELLING OR GRAMMAR
... all I can say is "annoying!" I know my spelling and grammar is not perfect and often I think faster then my hands type and that leads to missing parts or really bad spelling. It happens, I accept that and I know others do it too. So when I see it in other's post, I know that was not the topic at hand and choose to just respond to what they were saying and not step up on to my high horse and point out the spelling and grammar errors. Although, there have been some grammar and spelling errors that make me laugh, like when they spell a word to mean one thing and it's actually a word that means something completely different ... example; once I saw a post reading something about the "organization" and it said the "orgasm." I thought that was funny, but did not say anything as the person did not ask to be spell and grammar checked.
Am I alone in finding this annoying?

Disfellowshipped for being fat and not watching my cholesterol
by free2beme ini find the concept of taking select warnings of the medical and science world, to disfellowship members, and ignoring others ... all the more interesting as i think about it.
after all, heart desease is the biggest killer in the americas.
heart desease and heart related deaths are often linked to and not exclusive to; obesity, high cholesterol, fatty foods, not exercising, high stress, etc.. with this in mind, i dare someone to call an elder and report that they saw one of the local witnesses eating at mcdonalds, even though the doctor warned them it could kill them.

With this in mind, I dare someone to call an elder and report that they saw one of the local Witnesses eating at McDonalds, even though the doctor warned them it could kill them. By principle, this is a disfellowshipping event. As it shows a lack of respect for the life Jehovah gave you. I would like to report the elder I knew who stressed too bad about his talks and family, when the doctor said this could kill him with his high blood pressure, as this is something that shows a lack of respect for the life Jehovah gave you.
Face it, as a Witness ... the following people do not deserve to inherit god's kingdom and should be disfellowshiped.
People that are fat or overweight
People who are in high stress positions or stressed
People who have not removed aspestis from their homes
People who do not wear seat belts
... get the idea? Because if you really want to say that Jehovah disrespect smoking and wants people to show respect for their body and life, then where do you draw the line ... I know where, where the society feels its fit to dictate it! RIGHT?
FAT PEOPLE ARE EVIL!
