I always think of the stories that you hear about the young people online who think they are meeting someone their age some where and then show up to be kidnapped or killed by older sick men who claimed to be that person. Makes me realize how important the one on one visit is, to actually know and person and not the online image we present online.

Pictures of Paradise
by gringojj inmy wife made a comment today about all the pictures of paradise and how none of them ever show the inside of a house.
they are always the same pictures of people outside playing with lions and water in the background.
someone was talking in another post about how hard it is to make the simplest items.

THE MOTIVES OF GOOD JWS WHO POST ON THIS SITE
by steve2 inwhile i think it's perfectly okay, i do wonder what motivates jws to post here and especially to also express views critical of ex-jws.
is it the freudian notion of "projection": the jw who denounces something in others that he or she is also guilty of?
hence, if a jw clearly denounces an apostate's faults, it must mean the jw is really against apostasy when it might be something he or she struggles with.

Isn't it weird how we see Jehovah Witnesses that are active, as some sort of enemy, until they turn from the religion and then they are all "COOL!" It reminds me of how I felt about worldly people, before and after they got baptized ... only reversed. Although, I love several active Witnesses, as they are family and life is not black and white anymore.

If someone next to me is doing the number 2, I can not stand hearing it and often trying to plug my ears until they are done. If possible, I always try to us a stall that has an empty on both sides.

Does she feel Jehovah has control over her mind? I thought they were suppose to be free thinkers to some degree.

When I was new to message board posting, I once got a little to involved with the people and found myself sucked into debate and people getting all grouped up in support of one another. Yet, I had never met anyone on the message board. Until one day, one of the people who debated me the most mentioned where he worked and it was in a town about two hours away. I was going through it one time, weeks later, and thought it would be interesting to stop and see who this person was and maybe even introduce myself if I was brave enough to get into some hot debate there in person. Well I walked in, this was an auto parts store that was locally owned, and I could not see anyone working but a woman and I knew the person I was looking for was a man. So I stayed a little longer and soon a man came out of the back room and came up to me to ask if I needed help. He was about 5'4" balding and was very nervous acting and when I asked questions, he mumbled a lot and did not answer me by looking me in the eyes and frankly he seemed very scared with his interaction with people. I knew it was the man from the message board, as he had posted pictures of himself, and I decided it best to keep my identity to myself and went about my trip up the interstate. Yet it taught me a lesson I never forgot online, in that we are not always who we seem here and often writing words of debate online come easier then we would in person. So after that meeting, I never took an online debater with so much seriousness. I realized that often they were just working on a weakness they have in their real life and I should not allow them to ever get to me. Also, I realized that often I made the mistake of putting personalities to people online that were actually just aspects of myself and not the people themselves and I was just arguing the the attitude that I read into their debates, and in affect, arguing with myself and not the shy man working in the auto supply store that really existed behind the screen name.Have you ever had an experience like this one?

Ever had someone give advice like this to you? Advice in which they did something, or felt a way about something, to the point that they see the need to tell you to do the same. I know it happens in real life and I know it happens online and it got me to wondering. Why is it, that we are stubborn about change and yet very aggressive about suggesting it? I know I have been guilty of it at times, and it has happened to me more times then I could ever count. So how do you deal with people trying to control your lives, in which they suggest you do something and then act like you are some sort of idiot for not listening. Do you follow and just go with the crowd, or do you do what you want and leave those who can not understand behind to either understand or accept your differences of opinion?
I am the "catch 22" in that I do not want others to tell me how to live my lives, but in so doing, I am trying to control their lives to ask that they not do something that only comes natural to us all.
What do you think?
