How do you feel about promiscuous sex?

i work with a guy who sleep with a lot of different woman, and when i say a lot, i mean a lot!

i know what some are thinking, "oh he probably sleeps with a few and makes it sound like more.

" well i would think that too, if i did not actually meet a lot of these woman and work with some of them and they admit to sleeping with him on a regular basis.

Is this their problem? Are they unhappy with their lifestyle? I think the problem is your own. Why do you have such a poor opinion of women?

I have no problem with the human being, female variety. I question their lifestyle choice as being a good one in this day and age. It seems that as a society we have chosen to take our lives to the level of "what feels good to me, must be right as I am an adult and that is my freedom." We push it to the maximum level of what is legal and in some cases, much further past that point. In my psychology classes and human sexuality classes, we talked about these points a lot and like all things, it comes down to perspective and your own personal background. As a former Witness, I still have some strong morals. My morals tell me that having random sex with people you hardly know and care about, for nothing more then a pleasure moment is not respectful of your life and the other person's life. If that works for you though, do it. Although it is true that a lot of people grow to regret it and some use it as a form of working through love and emotional issues. I want to feel needed? I want to be touched and held? I don't want to be alone? Are common parts of a society that has basically assigned you a tax code, bracket and social security ID. Personally, I know I have an issue with this and I don't want it to change. I like my issue of seeing sex as something that should be between people who care for one another and when I see people that are not like me acting this way, I am proud that I see their behavior as wrong to the level I described. When I left the Witnesses, I did not leave the moral code I felt inside as right. I have no problem with people having sex before marriage, don't care about that one bit. Promiscuous sex is not the same thing, and that is my subject. As for the happiness these woman feel, I don't see it. They seemed confused in life, depressed, lost and any other negative I could place there to convey my thought. Most drink and party a lot, which goes with the life style. If my child grew to be life this, with this "using" other human bodies for pleasure and nothing else, I would be disappointed in him. As I think the lack of respect issue, is why we don't really care about a human life at all anymore or at least a lowering of human life value.

I thought about that too, but animals also go to the bathroom anywhere and eat their young in some cases. I like to think that are advancement in those areas could expand to other areas too. There are a lot of animals though that mate for life and when their mate dies, they live alone until their own death. In any species, it's admirable.

I work with a guy who sleep with a lot of different woman, and when I say a lot, I mean A LOT! I know what some are thinking, "oh he probably sleeps with a few and makes it sound like more." Well I would think that too, if I did not actually meet a lot of these woman and work with some of them and they admit to sleeping with him on a regular basis. They are like his sex partners when ever he wants them, younger woman to woman in their 30's and even early 40's. He brags about it and thinks it is a big deal and honesty, it kind of bothers me still. I may not be a Witness anymore, but the idea of sleeping with people in this manner is just wrong feeling. I see these woman he sleep with as pathetic, and look at them like tools on the wall of his garage and almost find myself forgetting their human. I know it seems cold, but they present themselves that way and it becomes their reflection. There not ugly woman either, some are beautiful and model perfect in their body. So it is not some insecurity issue, that can be seen. Since leaving the Witnesses a decade ago, it has often been the most eye opening experience to see how casual sex is with people of all ages and the older their get, the more casual it gets. I am married and I have been offered sex from people I am not married to, and told it is no big deal and nothing but sex. I wont do it, it just seems wrong. I am not saying everyone needs that wedding ring to have sex, but for god-sakes, can they at least stop treating their bodies like a pleasure toy. I don't know, maybe I am a prude, but promiscuous sex like this (which is more common then not) just does not settle well with me and I wonder how others view it.

I've preached on Judgment and it was considered a rarity as well as a difficult topic to handle,

It is rare, as it is the part of Christianity that would turn people away if they did heard it. Yet it is there and a part of Christianity, a big part. Just because your church does not focus on it and speak of love and salvation, does not remove it or lower the meaning. That is my point, Christianity is all about judgement, unless you just choose not to talk about it. Then it is "all about denying the judgement of Christianity to see it as something other then what it is, judgement."

BTW your thread title has got it wrong too, christianity is not about judgment, more like salvation and love

Tried it, learned that was just the fancy slogan to get you in and then it is "judgement, judgement and more judgement."

i have a great business idea for you, your going to need to invest a small amount and get your friends involved and within a year or less you should not even have to work at all and just sit back and let the money roll in.

Just remember, MLM is like religion, as much as we all see terrible things in the Witnesses and have moved on. There are millions more who see you as a fool, that have found happiness and success from the inside of the religion. Yet, does that make their religion okay? Well the same is with MLM, some succeed, but millions fail and get ripped off. Does that mean MLM is okay. My biggest recent issue with MLM, is that when friends get into it, all they want to do is talk about it. When you show no interest, you loss a friend. They have the attitude that you are either with me or against me, and those against me are left out of my MLM million dollar dreams. Seem it tons of times and seeing it again with my wife's parents. MLM is a joke!

when i was in my teens, which would have been the 1980's, i knew a couple in our hall that left to do missionary work in columbia.

they were doing a more, working where the need was great, then an actually missionary appointment from bethel.

When I was in my teens, which would have been the 1980's, I knew a couple in our hall that left to do missionary work in Columbia. They were doing a more, working where the need was great, then an actually missionary appointment from Bethel. In any case, they were going to be gone three months and spoke Spanish. They were traveling with four other couples and they were planning this for nearly a year. The congregation was excited for them, we even had a small going away get together to help get their trip off to a good start. They promised to write regularly and before long they were off. The thing is, in the area of Columbia they were going too, it was a drug-lord controlled region and they did not take well to people from the outside. The couple actually knew this, but figured that since they knew people down there, it would be okay and besides they had Jehovah on their side.

A month went by and at the Service Meeting we actually had announcements that mentioned their letters and it sounded wonderful, they were conducting Bible Studies and having all sorts of whacking adventures with getting stuck in the mud on mountain roads and other things. Then about the end of their second month, they went missing. Not just them, all the couples they were their with were gone too. It was on the local news and they just mentioned they were missionaries and nothing about the Witnesses. It seemed that the place they were staying in was raided in the middle of the night and they were all taken. No news was coming out and the Colombian government was basically saying, "we are doing the best we can," following up with thoughts that stressed that these people were their willingly despite warnings to not come.

Almost two years went by and finally some news from the area. It seemed that in a government crackdown they located some information on these people. It seems they were taken because the drug-lords felt they were there as a threat and not really missionaries. There had been some example of undercover agents trying this type of method in the regions and they figured this was another example of this. The men had all been beheaded and buried with their heads in one location and their bodies in another, to make identification harder. The woman had apparently been kept alive longer and raped repeatedly at the camps. They were basically treated like prostitutes and used and then killed and burned. The news did not settle well with the congregation, and as I look back now, I think it had shaken a few people's faith.

Yet I wonder, doesn't the the warning to stay away, and you defiance to do so, imply that you know this kind of stuff could happen and you accept that? I wonder, while these men watch one another beheaded and seeing their wives taken, did they think that Jehovah was their with them? As these woman lived on beaten and raped, did they have pleasure in knowing they would die with honor in Jehovah's eyes? I can not see this, and I can not see the logic in sacrificing your life in such a manner. If a country has problems and a country has made your religion illegal to preach, then going their anyway is no different then suicide. As much as I think of these people and feel sorrow for what they went through, I also feel disgust for their lack of logic that brought them to thinking this step was "okay!" and feel sick that they actually thought "Jehovah will protect me."

Do you think that JW's will "reverse" their 1914 generation doctrine back?

i was looking at the news the other day and they had a 100 yr old man that went water-skiing for his 100th birthday.

now i was just thinking like a jw and somehow they might say "that 100 year old man would be of the 1914 generation so there are probably millions like him still alive" so if there is lets say a million 100 year old now living do you think that the wt leaders might think that they abandoned ship to quick when they disregarded the 1914 generation doctrine in 1995?

how many 100 years olds are around today?

and the one thing that no one can come up with is how many of the socalled 144,000 are left, i would estamate there to be atleast 145,000 still kicking today.

if any one out there know's of a number and not the number put in the watchtower, i mean realy do you belive all you read.

Since it is nothing more then a misunderstood part of Christian myth, I would say none. If I were answering as a person who is saying, "This is how many Witnesses think they are ... " Then I would say, "from what I have read and seen, the number seems higher then it was when I was a child and I think this is caused by less importance put on the date 1914 and the whole generations things."
