Yes, it was actually more than odd, it was a quick way to get a look and a feel! TB is in your lungs, it never spreads to the vaginal area! Age gives us may things, wisdom being one of them!

i was at bethel with my now ex-husband in early 1982. at that time, they did a tb test as part of the physical when you started.
mine came out positive for exposure (though i did not and have never had tb), probably because i had worked as a receptionist in a hospital x-ray department.. the weird bit is that the bethel doctor insisted on giving me a gynacological exam.
as i was only 22 at the time, and butt-stupid, i went ahead and let him.

first of all id like to say hello to everyone on this website, and to thank and acknowledge each and every one of you for your individuality, personal experience, and in some cases, commitment to truth.. having read some of the heartfelt topics and posts here have served to be a great encouragement to me, more than some could imagine.
my name is jason, and i am a recovering ex-jw.. i guess this would be an ideal time to tell my life story as an abbreviated version, so here goes.. i was "born into, or raised" in the organization.
my grandfather was an elder for 45 years, and served as one of the very first jw in the south chicagoland suburbs.
Jason:
Welcome - you will finds friends and comfort here. Many of us have been through the same process and know the pain as well as the joy that come from getting on the other side!
Be gentle with yourself and give yourself time.

this post is totally sappy, but i don't care.
i wanted to share it anyway.
lately, i have felt very sorry for myself because my relationship with my jw parents is almost to the point of being severed.
Billygoat:
Let me add my comments to a long thread of congratulations! I am sorry to hear about your family, I know this hurts a great deal. Trust me though, the pain does ease up as you find yourself and believe in who you are and what you do. From your story, you are well on the road. You found something really wonderful and thank you for sharing it with us.

on this wonderful weekend, i just wonder how many jehovah's witnesses had a "family dinner" instead of thanksgiving.
i know when i belonged to dubdom, many familys would get together for a "family dinner", but don't dare call it thanksgiving.
never mind the food was the same, turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, dinner rolls, grape juice or wine, and pumpkin pie.
I have heard lots of ways of getting around it. The best one was not to serve cranberry sauce because it was not Thanksgiving it cranberries were not served!
The second best one is that we were going to eat dinner anyway, so we just decided to have turkey, dressing, cranberry sauce, etc., for this particular dinner!

i was talking with a jw a few days ago, and he said that current events (natch) convinced him more than ever that soon the nations will turn on religion, and the great tribulation will begin.
he said that the current hatred felt toward islamic extremists, plus columnists pointing out christian extremists (i.e.
abortion clinic bombers) are also dangerous, mean that soon the tide will turn and all religion will be viewed as bad.. i responded that although extremists are hated, i've been amazed at how carefully the governments have differentiated between extremists and muslims in general.
Just to add to this thread -- religions are getting stronger. This is the usual the sky is falling. The U.S. is fighting the Taliban, not Muslims.
There is also something about this whole end of the world fixation. The word Armageddon is only mentioned once in the Bible, and yet this religion has built its entire operation around it. In many other religions, Buddhist, and Hindu, there is no mention of the world ending, just life as a constant circle of learning and growth. Christianity set up a world using their calendar and their timetable, completly ignorning cultures and religions that have been around for centuries before them.
Like others on this page, I have moved away from organized religion in any form. Not because of governments, but because I am so tired of hearing how everyone else is wrong and not them. Too much rhetoric and not enough love.

tonight at work (i work on at an information and referral network called the helpline) i had the best call.
it was all it took to restore in me my desire to be an occupational therapist and my desire to be a good person.
this guy called in with a traumatic brain injury as result of a car accident.
Wonderwoman77: I have to agree with dungbeetle! What makes you think you are already not a good person! Go for your dream, I am sure you will make a great OT == you already have the desire and the heart, you just need the skills!
GOPHER IT GIRLFRIEND!
just read a recent awake on fen shui and it's pagan origins and it made me wonder if they have ever printed a similar article on pyramidology, considering russell's preoccupation with it?.
i would appreciate any articles as my w.library is still not working.. (please no more pictures of pyramids though)!
!
Feng Shui is just a study of the flow of energy thoughout a given space, just like chakras are a flow of energy in the body. Of course there was a time when this was also considered pagan; however, now there is scientific evidence about chakras and their energy flows.
It is so sad that people try to cut off learning by making anything they don't understand or agree with pagan, or from the devil or wrong. Jehovah Witnesses also believe the carbon dating, the process used to say how old something is, is also wrong. Since man has only been here less than 7,000 years, according to JW, a scientific method that shows bones over one million years old has to wrong. Of course, there are now documented, scientific JW studies to prove their belief, and many scientific studies to prove the correctness of carbon dating.
How very, very sad!

may you all have peace!
(yes, i know i am starting a new thread when one already exists, but most of you know me by now...).
the 'true' worshippers of god are those that worship him... in spirit... and in truth.
A Guest: I have to agree with JT, too much scripture is a turn off. Every Christian religion uses scripture to prove their particular point, often in direct contradiction to another Christian religion's interpretation. Scripture was used to prove the world would end in 1975, or that womam brought original sin into the world, or that slavery was right, or that beating children was right.
Too much scripture, too little love.

we all know the jw view of abortion before leaving but what about now?
how have your views changed?
i used to secretly cheer when i heard that women had gained more rights concerning abortions.
My view of abortion has always remained the same -- it is my body and my life and no one, absolutely no one, has the right to tell me what will go on inside of my body, or decide the course of my life. I am responsible for both and I am accountable for both. If someone else thinks it is a baby and a human life, fine, that is their life and they have that right. How I elect to think of this fetus is my right, the issue remains it is my body and my life.
