by the_classicist in.
street witnessing!
the inspiration for this joke came from seeing a "you can live forever on a paradise earth" brochure on the ground.

Is there something wrong with this quote about EASTER?
by badboy in.
`eostre was the pagan goddess of the spring'.
what do you think is wrong with that quote from the april 1 1996 wt?

`EOSTRE WAS THE PAGAN GODDESS OF THE SPRING'
So many things have roots in Pagan times.... Christians who celebrate Easter now don't do it for the Pagan Goddess Eostre, but to celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus....

Hello!
by Narkissos inwell, i'm finally back before my usual computer after a few weeks away.
not all of it fun, but some of it pleasant though.. however jwd was on my mind and i've been thinking of many online friends here -- especially ian (dansk) and mario (utopianreformist).
sometimes i managed to get updates from public internet access.. to be true, i've been around for a couple of days now and read a few topics (some very interesting), but strangely i didn't feel like engaging in biblical, theological or philosophical discussions as i used to do.

Nun confronts Hanks over 'Da Vinci Code'
by William Penwell inread this today on cnn.
the other night there was some catholic scholar referring to the book as being fiction.
i was confused as to whether he was referring to the "da vinci code" or the "bible"?

I think any bible film should also have the same thing. Like Mel Gibson’s Passion of Christ should have a disclaimer saying this is based on fiction and not to be taken literally....
I hear you . . . Gibson went overboard with the depiction of Jesus' torture and death. How does anyone know how it really happened ? All speculation.
