  Mum has extended the olive branch...

  hi all my friends, i've been absent from posting for a few months.

  snowed in with uni work, and just generally choosing to lie low.

  but, i thought it was time to come out of hybernation to give you what i believe is some pretty good news with respects to the relationship that exists (or rather hasn't existed for a few years) with my jw mum.. a couple of years ago mum texted me to tell me that she received my letter to family in march just gone, but wasn't sure how to respond to it.

  Hi frog!

  I'm glad you hopped back into jwd. I missed your froggy words and ways. Great update-I'm glad you are making progress with your dad (it all adds up). Regarding the mum, I'm not sure what to say on that one. But you show a good example of compassion when you consider her life in full spectrum...all of the obstacles she has been through.

  It's easy for us to forget that our parents were once young persons just like us, filled with hopes and dreams and that they may also have been very conflicted with doubt at times, facing some of the very same uncertainties and issues we face in life.

  just adopted today from the animal shelter, our new daughter molly, at age 8 weeks, and her already loving brother jake her doggy mentor.. isn't she just the cutest thing ever???!!!.

  i remember there was one that used to go to my hall.

  he would say hi to my dad and my dad would ignore him.

  i know now that my father feels bad for that, but at the same time he had no choice.

  several times i have had dreams that i was dating richard gere!

  not sure of the worst, cause i have had many, but one dream, my closet door flew open with wind and lights and noises coming out of it.

  i woke up sweating, screaming, and crying!

  no good dreams only terrible nightmares.

  mine were about great floods, giant caterpillars, tornados and various other natural disasters, total lawlessness breaking out on the streets, resulting in my very untimely and painful death at the hand of wicked worldlings....

  don't all witness kids have these sort of wretched nightmares?

  i can recall of only one instance where a guy with a picnic basket full of pamphlets entered the convention center and started passing out antidotal "jesus saves" propaganda.

  of course he was scary and demonic and the antichrist, and probably would have turned us to stone if we'd looked him in the eyes directly...thank goodness he had on sunglasses

  it's really funny thinking back to moments like that and seeing such feelings of illogical fear for what they were... and never having thought in a million gajillion years that i would be an apostate myself one day. had i known i would have shared my lunch, at least.

  thats right, it will be on pbs tomorrow night.

  the first time i really heard bob dylan i was about twelve and they were playing one of his records at a public pool. it was like nothing i had heard but i thought it was modern music. i ran to the concession stand and begged to know who it was. they were like, oh, it's bob dylan. cool.

  i saw a sign advertising it on a bus a few weeks ago... and ran to catch the date and time. after all that...i still forgot. thanks for the reminder. it should be decent.

  Animal Personality Test

  some of you have asked me where the name "tall penguin" comes from.

  well, i came across a book called "animal attraction" about 5 years ago.

  it is a personality test which pegs you as a particular animal.

  Biodiesel... until the car fueled by water is reality... :)

  my husband and i are planning to make biodiesel for our diesel car.

  looks like it will be a hobby for him-- he enjoys chemistry.

  we will make a fumeless processor, and put the whole setup in our basement.

  Bio-diesel is not 'explosive'... well, no more so than vegetable oil. I'd wager that if you're a cook, you have a bottle of vegetable oil in your kitchen. WATCH OUT!! It might 'explode'!! (not!) *wide grin*

  rofl.. truer than you know. you'd be surprised by the damage i could do w. some oil. i just caught a tea towell on fire the other day, didnt notice, and nearly burnt the place down. waha-ha
