How Clean is your House?
by morty inhow clean is your house?.
i just love this show.. kim and aggie run into some pretty disturbing homes i must admit.
i am certainly not on the list of the most disgusting homes but, dont have the most organized house on the street..... i like cleanliness in all parts of my home( cat litter empted, dishes cleaned, bathroom area very sanitary, floors cleaned, carpets vacuumed, garbage emptied if full, candles burning, the furniture and carpet deodorized daily, the dog has to be bathed regular, ash trays dumped and cleaned every time i finish smoking in the back room, and finally, the supper dishes must be done before i go to bed... i could not give two sh*ts if the bed did not get made properly, the kids room has dirty laundry on it or all their junk, they dont have their beds made every day, the computer desk has bills/papers lying on it, the cats/dogs food runs out of dish, there is a cob web up in the corner of the living room, ( thats a great decoration for this time of the year anyways...lol) the wires are showing from the t.v and dvd player, there are a few pairs of shoes at the door at not put away on the shoe rack, there is a coat on the back of a chair instead of hung up, and the pillows and blankets are scattered all over the couch for comfort (at night only, not during the day unless it is the weekend).

Do You Personally Know Of Any JW That Was Sexually Abused?
by minimus in,,,,while they were witnesses?
-
katiekitten
Yes a girl in my congo had been abused by her dad when they were JW's. She was married when I knew her, and was taking her dad to court. Apparently her story was all over the national news.
After I had known her a couple of years she left her husband and started selling and taking drugs. She ended up in prison. Her ex was still very supportive tho, he said she was dealing with all the damage of her childhood.

Would you bail your JW family out of a financial bind?
by unbeliever ini am so upset with my mother.
she took a huge mortgage out on her house which was completely paid for.
her elder husband wanted to expand his business.

I think getting the house in your name is a great idea, that way they wont be able to donate it to the society either.
I also think having a sit down with that
dead beatstep dad of yours with the article posted above would be great. You need to feel heard in this, especially as you are doing so much to help them out. He needs to know what your feelings are.Best of luck. I hope this doesnt cripple you financially, or you will feel resentful about it for the rest of your life.

Is everyone accused guilty?
by hambeak ini have seen a lot of posts here that attack pedophiles and want open records which i agree with.
pedophiles are detestable and disgusting.. my question is don't you think some are wrongfully accused by some especially in child custody issues?
i know of some that were accused and arrested and in one case the mother in law and wife admitted in pre trial they made the whole thing up.

Hambeak, that is a terrible tragic story.
I dont know how someone recovers from something as devastating as that. You are a tribute to the human spirit for being here and being a fighter.
If there is a hell then your ex and MIL will surely go there for the damage they have done to you and your children.
I also agree with you that being accused leaves you in a very precarious position. I feel that in many cases the rights of the accuser override the rights of the accused. I feel that everything should be done in private and all documents should be accessible to both prosecution and defense and no-one else, and that there should be stiff penalties for false accusations.
I had a teacher training day a few weeks ago about the procedure in school if a child accuses a teacher of anything improper. The teacher is immediately suspended on full pay, but NOT told the nature of the allegation or the accuser. This is so that the teacher cannot tamper with the evidence.
The accuser however, is still free to go to school, spread the story as much as s/he likes, and have full access to all the other students who might be part of the evidence later on.
The police are called and the investigation takes months at the shortest, and sometimes years. Even if there is absolutely no case to be heard and the teacher is ruled in court to be innocent, the whole thing is still placed on the teachers PERMANENT record. Every school you subsequently apply to is informed of this record, and the teacher is faced with the very real possibilty of never getting another job, even though there was no case to answer.
I find that extremely worrying, and if the kids knew how easy it was to put a teacher out of work like that I am sure they would be doing it maliciously.

Is it everyone else's fault?
by free2beme ini feel that we live in a blame free world.
were all perfect, we make no mistakes and everything we do it 100% right.
i know this, because i work in customer service and get calls all day long from these perfect people.
-
katiekitten
Free - that sounds like an awful job, I really feel for you.
I think instead of national service, every young person in the country should be made to serve 12 months in customer service.
I really do HATE the 'I know my rights' attitude. I know its a pathetic example, but when I watch American Idol, and Simon Cowell gives some feedback that isnt 110% sychophantic the audience screams at him that hes an idiot and doesnt know what hes talking about. Whats happened??? Weve all got to praise people for talents they dont even have anymore because its a breach of their human rights to tell them theyre a crap singer?!
I also blame the litigation generation, where people can sue for anything - someone elses fault and theyre gonna PAY for it. There were some suited individuals stood in town a while ago promoting a 'no win no fee, accident litigation company' . "Have you had an accident" they were asking everyone that passed.
I wanted to say "its because of you people that schools and charities cant have fireworks displays and bouncy castles any more, or school trips, skipping ropes and conkers have been banned in some playgrounds, as well as throwing snowballs. I hope your proud of yourself".

Panic Attacks
by AudeSapere ina co-worker says she's been having panic attacks lately and is quite concerned about them.. she was given a prescription for atarax to use 'as needed' but it didn't help any.. i wonder if anyone here has had - or knows someone who has had - these sort of attacks.. what sort of symptoms were experienced?
what treatment worked??
what didn't work???.

My sister started having them and she went for counselling. She worked through issues of rejection arising from being put up for adoption as a baby and having a violent husband who she had to leave giving him the house and everything in it, to get away.
They subsided, but she still finds it impossible to drive for any distance other than to work and into the local town.

What would you say is the main reason why people didn't listen to us?
by JH inwhen i started going out door to door, i was sure i'd bring a couple of people with me to the org.
i knew my parents believed in god and the bible, so i was sure i'd be able to convince them with a few simple verses that we had the truth.
but no, they didn't seem convinced enough to want to study.

katiekitten
I used to tell myself that no-body listened for the same reason that millions of people didnt listen to the smoking advice, they know its the truth but they are indifferent until something significant actually happens to them.
I would amend that thought slightly now - they dont know its the truth and they are indifferent to finding out because (a) everyone has real busy lives (b) if you found something out it might mean having to do something about it.
Also id say lots of people dont give a toss about anything - global warming, animal extinction, chemical poisoning of the food chain and water system, child labour, genocide. Its all too much, what can we do, I have my own issues to deal with. Most people are happy to live at a very basic level, eat, shag, work, sleep, watch telly.
I definately dont think, for most people, that not listening is based on any intelligent consideration. Its based on the fact that they have an 11yr olds playground aversion to 'weirdos'. I respect people who have decided its a crock because they have looked into it. I dont respect people who have decided its a crock purely by accident, because they dont want to be seen talking to happy clappys.
