  I'm scared and I need help

  for those of you that don't know my story, read my first post here: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/122526/1.ashx

  so, i think next week is when i find out if i am approved to be an ms. if not, thank god, but if i am, i'm in deep crap.

  elder dad is confident that i'll accept, but my plan is to try to get out of it by saying that i want to finish school and get an aa degree, at least, before accepting more responsibilities.

  Ive just thought of something else.

  Instead of being defensive and thinking of replies to fend them off, you could do on the attack. Here are a couple of questions:

  "Is this a genuine offer where I have the genuine choice to say yes or no?"

  "Are you going to force me to accept?"

  "Would Jesus have forced anyone to be one of his apostles?"

  And a few more phrases to add to the broken record:

  "I feel that being forced to accept this offer would damage my spirituality" (again dont explain if pressed, its just what you FEEL, so no need to justify it with details)

  "I dont think that forcing someone who does not feel ready is in the true spirit of Christ".

  "My relationship with Jehovah does not depend on me accepting this position, and will not be affected by my not accepting this position"

  Maybe you could say you are truly grateful that you have been considered but you dont feel spiritually qualified yet (this avoids any hint of doubts or wrongdoing).

  If they press you and say "but we think you are spiritually qualified" you say "well I have considered the issue prayerfully and after long prayers I dont feel ready yet".

  Im not sure if it would work but you could just play broken record - 'I dont feel spiritually mature yet' no need to give details. Just keep repeating the same thing whatever they ask you. If they really press you could throw in that even Jesus wasnt ready until he was 30 and after prayerful consideration you dont feel ready.

  Just keep flipping between two o three phrases "I dont feel ready", "I dont feel spiritually mature enough", "jesus did not take on any responsibilities until he was 30".

  Because you are focussing on what you FEEL, and not any actual facts, they cant disagree with you. You dont FEEL ready. The end. They cant FORCE you to feel ready.

  Does anyone now celebrate...

  does anyone who was raised a jw and is now df'd of da'd celebrate all the holidays?

  i do, and for the first time in my entire life i'm actually having a blast and so are my children.

  at least my youngest child doesn't have to suffer the segregation all jw children surrender to due to the freakin' mind controlling gb and all there so called "god channeled" rules..

  I received Valentine's day cards at my desk, but couldn't give any.

  Valentines was the only one I really badly wanted to celebrate. You lucky thing, I never got a single valentines card and im sure that was nothing to do with me being a dub!

  When I got married I wanted my husband to send me one because I figured it didnt really mean anything wrong and as we were married it was just a bit of fun between us, but he never would.

  A few years ago after I left both my hubby and the JWs I made a man buy me a bunch of flowers for valentines. We had gone to lunch and it happened to be valentines day and i said "I am NOT going back to the office empty handed so you are going to have to buy me these flowers"!

  Yes I do em all. I feel good that my daughter can be normal and its no big deal.

  I remember as a kid thinking "I wish I was just normal".

  Robbed Again!

  thursday morning 2am cst i got a call from the garland pd my shop was broken into again 3 times this year i am so hopping mad because this is going to put me out of business i can't claim on insurance not that much only a few hundred dollars but the clean up and disruption of business i am at the point of buying a gun.

  i had one of the guys replace the window again and this time put heavy duty cage wire over all of the windows.

  any suggestion on how to deal with this anger?

  Hambeak, im really sorry, that sucks. I got plenty upset when some kid stole the badge off the front of a car we had years ago. Im not sure how to deal with the anger, except to find some kind of way to empower yourself.

  The trouble with a gun is that you would have to wait for them through the night, and you never know which night they are going to strike. You could be waiting weeks or even months, and you cant afford to lose all that sleep.

  Its almost bound to be druggies. In the UK heroin addicts account for most of the aquisitive crime. Pity there isnt something in their drugs that finishes them off first time, to prevent the years of trouble they go on to cause.

  There was a brother in a congo I used to be in who was really a musical genius. He used to do kingdom songs in the style of... always something totally hilarious. He was brilliant and without changing the words he had you rolling on the floor laughing at his remixes. I think he got told to stop. Killjoys.

  They updated the dress code to suit the modern day.

  From now on all brothers must wear hoodies and jeans that hang below their butt cheeks showing at least 2 inches of underpants. All sisters must wear combat pants with 6 inch plastic stillettos and layered multi coloured vests.

  Oh, I know the answer to this one.

  Is it because you are quite contrary?

  Im sure he hates you for a perfectly sensible reason, like you refused to have his love child (although in fariness the other Mary bet you to that one).

  If it helps im having a glass of pinot grigio for you right now, and screw everyone who hates you. (I have a suspicion that everyone hates me too, I think they tap it out in semaphore on the scaffolding when I walk past building sites).

  Why would this even cross my mind?!?!?!?!

  well, after 10 years of being together, hubby has decided that he's found his 'soul mate' (the second time this year, neither of which was me) and is moving out.. i'm thirty years old and no kids, thanks to the fact that i spent 12 years in full time service telling everyone it's better to wait until the 'new system' for raising a family.

  that's all beside the point - and perhaps better suited for my counselor.

  :) anyway, the thought that keeps going through my mind is "this never would have happened if i didn't leave" and "how am i going to find someone to spend my life with at this age and who will understand me the way an ex-jw can"???

  I have to agree - big up for the thirty something ladies!

  We attract 20 somethings who think we have a few more tricks up our sleeves. We attract 30 somethings who think we are their target market and we attract 40 somethings who think we are still young things.

  We cant lose. Its an awesome age to be, and speaking personally the sex is better than its ever been (especially given it was crap for 10 years of marriage!)

  On the other hand, you dont need a man to have fun enjoy life. Strictly speaking you dont need one to have a baby beyond the impregnation bit! Theres no such thing as 'too late' for anything anymore.
