2 jws just called

two jw ladies w their best smiles on knocked on my door today.

i just closed the door on them, after one had said her good morning line.

i suppose you could say that i left them w smiles on their faces.

It used to really upset my mum that the witnoids worked so hard to bring in new recruits when all the time there were thousands of witnesses leaving. She said they should have focussed their energy on looking after the flock they had (like loving shepherds).

She used to caclulate the numbers every year when the year book came out - how many baptisms versus the total increase in numbers over the year - surprise surprise they were bringing in thousands of new people and the numbers werent going up in the UK. She couldnt believe how nobody noticed it.

Whats the point of bringing them all in at the front door when they are haemorraging out the back door?

Ok this being at home thing is starting to get to me...

it's been almost a month since i was let go by my employer of 10 1/2 years...i've been searching the want ads, signing up with temporary agencies and today i stayed and did nothing but clean house.

i got our file cabinet organized, for the first time in 7 years i have an actual filing system at home...then i realized how lucky i am.

i have a roof over my head, a man who loves me...then why am i having a pity party?

Tres I really feel for you, when I was unemployed I took it as a huge rejection and felt totally worthless - in fact unemployment and poineering felt much the same to me, nothing to do but tramp the streets all day ...

Hang in there, its not a holiday. Its only a holiday when you have work to go back to, and you know a definite time when you are going back to work. Otherwise its mentally draining (and physically I found, because the less I had to do the less energy I had to do it with). Im glad you have some positive thoughts to keep you going in the meantime.

Of course you could always put your time to good use and pioneer.... (jeezzzz Im kidding hun)

sometimes it sounds like it's in my walls.

at other times, as if it were really in my room.

I dunno, these young people today grow up so quickly (aint it awful - the favourite refrain of the dub when talking about any current affairs issue)

Please Buck really think hard. Were not discouraging you from getting involved just for the sake of it.

You may well lose her if you become a Dub anyway, because the pressure and commitment it will demand of you both tends to have a wrecking effect on marriage. My mum and dad couldnt hack the strain anymore and seperated, then divorced, but sadly they are so well matched for each other. It was the whole 'head of the house' 'woman in her place' stuff, plus all the meetings and field service left no family time.

I couldnt have sex with my husband (we married as young dubs) because it just felt WRONG somehow. Meetings put me off it.field service put me off it - can you think of day in the week without a meeting or field service? Nope, neither could I. I went to a sex psychologist to find out what was wrong, but felt guilty about mentioning anything about the dubs (look bad on Jehovah, right?) so I didnt mention any of that stuff - so it never got resolved. We got divorced in the end.

PLEASE, hun, dont do this. I thought I would die when I got divorced it hurt so much, but I lived to have great sex and meet a great partner with no religious hangups.

this is a great story and its totally true.. peter kay says that when you are a kid you have loads of aunties and uncles, your uncle bob because he once borrowed your dads orbital sander and your aunty mary because your mum goes to weight watchers with her.

i thought it was a witnoid thing, or maybe a north of england thing, or even a 70's thing.. uncle malcolm was (is) an elder in my childhood congregation, a little wiry bloke in a flat cap and painters overalls.

lived in a council house opposite my nana's with the ample aunty jean, two large shiftless sons and lots of budgies.

im from a small backward industrial town in the north of england.

in the 70's when i was a kid no-one had a car.

we used to meet for field service on the street corner and have a pep rally right there, then stand in a circle and say a prayer.

ZOINKS! How could I forget Captain Caveman. I wanted to be the babe that wasnt black or blonde (because I wasnt black or blonde so identiied with her by default). Worryingly I think I was more like Thelma off Scooby Doo, even though I did my best to be like Daphne. (theres nothing wrong with being in love with a cartoon, wasnt Fred gorgeous?)

If there was something funny at KH that you werent supposed to laugh at everyones shoulders would go up and down but no sound would come out - just like they do on the cartoons when they are laughing but the sound is off!!!

Crumpet id love to meet you too someday. Just read your profile, and all i can say is you are a survivor. I never had to put up with anything near as much as you did, hence my ability to laugh at it all. Doubt if I could have coped with your deck of cards.

All respect to you and your ability to get through all that crapola.

Plus what a fab name, CRUMPET! Makes me want to snigger in a slightly smutty British way for no apparent reason!

DB74 - how fantastic! Its like we went to the same congregation - I can hear Aunty Nellie farting! Im in my classroom at school laughing out loud to myself!! (kids walking past rolling their eyes, like im a mentalist)

Jeez, youve got to hand it to these 'ones' (as the WTS would say) they kept us going through the dark days.

Id love to hear more.
