I think their greatest card is that people inside mostly WANT to believe all that stuff. WTBS only provides the service like any other company

The Watch Tower will implode
by Hiddenwindow ini honestly believe that the watch tower's insistence in silencing disent will eventually destroy it.
no one knows at this point how many doubters and closet apostates are still inside.
and the wt itself is unable to identify most of them.

UFO's are the greatest hoax of all time! They exist only in our mind!
by Witness 007 ingeneral mccarthur 1955 ; "the next great war will be an inter-planetary war...".
ufo sightings "took off" after world war 2...why?
well what were people watching at the movies?

yup, you are probably right about "rods". It doesn't mean that living alien creatures are not out there, like someone once said absence of evidence is not evidence of absence, but at the same time I would find it rather incredible they would be studying us for the better part of human history and wouldn't make an official advance and a contact with "representative of human race”. Negging question would be - why? Are we really that different or could there be simple explanation and we are all alone in our corner of the universe

The demise of the family is a myth

Latest research into family dynamics reveals something rather interesting that directly contradicts wishful thinking of JW and other similar doomsday cults. People are not "living only for themselves" as per "Apostle Paul's visionary prediction" and most loved JW quote (2 Timothy chapter 3) In fact, research shows that people spend considerable amount of time and resources in helping family members. In particular it was noted that regular money transfer between family members across different generations substantially supplements income of those in need, hence making "greed" and "living only for one own needs" rather poor and too simplistic of an explanation of anything. Data reveal that people in general are rather concerned with having a healthy family unit and are not only living for their own needs.
While research is limited only to a number of European countries a lot of anecdotal evidence would suggest similar dynamics are not unusual occurrence elsewhere in the world either, but feel free to comment on it. People in general do tend to show sympathy and caring attitudes rather than "living for their own needs" alone
From things I've seen over the years it seems something quite opposite is going on. In fact if anyone is "fulfilling" that "prophecy" I would argue these are often those who allowed cultish frame of mind infiltrate their thinking rather than those labeled as "the world".
For instance, It would seem that deeper one goes into wtbs state of mind less caring he/she tends to demonstrate toward those that anyone in the "world" would consider a family (or even close friends) In fact, those that are still in the cult and do show "too much" caring attitudes often tend to be those who are frequently disagreeing with official policies, elders etc and are often labeled as "bad association" or on "fringe of the truth". i.e. to put it simply, they have a mind of their own.
Feel free to comment.

I think this story below hits the heart of the problem, which is an easy access to firearms. Just out of curiosity, does any American state have any form of licensing as far as firearms are concern? Where I live you have to go through major police check ups before you are allowed to obtain a license. Interestingly, we have a very low crime rate as well. Those two wouldn't have anything to do with each other, would they?
Illinois baby obtains gun permit
Bubba Ludwig may only be 10 months old, but he has already successfully obtained a gun licence in the US state of Illinois. Bubba's father, Howard Ludwig, applied on his behalf after his grandfather gave him a shotgun as an heirloom.
Mr Ludwig said he had not expected to succeed, but he filled in the online form, paid $5 and the licence was his. US gun laws are regularly the subject of fierce debate, renewed recently after April's Virginia Tech killings.
Gunman Cho Seung-hui was able to exploit a loophole in Virginia state law and obtain weapons despite having a history of mental illness. The loophole was later closed.
Technical problems
The licence includes a picture of a toothless Bubba and a squiggle that represents his best attempt at a signature.
In an article in the Chicago Sun-Times, Mr Ludwig, 30, said that he expected the application to be turned down. Two rejections did in fact come, he said, but both related to technical problems - on one application he forgot to tick a box stating his son was a US citizen - rather than Bubba's youth.
His third attempt was rewarded with a state firearm owner's identification card (FOID), complete with details of Bubba's height, weight and date of birth.
'No age restrictions'
Illinois gun laws are said to be among the strictest in the US. But Illinois State Police, who oversee the application process, said that they had followed the law in this case.
"Does a 10-month-old need a FOID card? No, but there are no restrictions under the act regarding age of applicants," the Associated Press news agency quoted Lt Scott Compton as saying. Mr Ludwig said Bubba's gun would likely remain at his grandfather's house until he was 14.
"I'm not about to approve any unsupervised hunting or trap shooting for Bubba," he wrote in the Chicago daily. "Still, I'm glad he was able to get his FOID card. It makes an adorable addition to his baby book."

by Sunspot ini don't come by here very often any more (trying to wean myself away from this board in anticipation of when we cannot ever post any more.

i was invited to the youngest grandchild's (of this son) sweet 16 birthday party last summer and i teared up when i realized that this was the first birthday party of all three of these grandchildren that i had attended.. we have been invited to thanksgiving dinner ( for the fourth year) with our whole family and that of my dil's family (she is one of seven) and to spend a few days at christmas at another son's home.

Jesus DID doubt Jehovah and himself "why has thou forsaken me."
by Witness 007 injesus asked that "lord if this cup can be taken from my....but as you will it.
" and ofcourse while hanging he said "lord lord why have you forsaken me.
" but the watchtower puts a positive spin on this saying he as god's son wasn't doubting or changing his mind...what do you think?

If my memory serves me right, bible is full of such examples, and yes wtbs always try to sugarcoat it. I remember reading long ago somewhere in bible where Jeremiah said to god "You fooled me" "you played tricks on me" other translations say "you deceived me"
How's that for being straight forward.

On physical side I'd love to go to suborbital flight with likes of Virigin Galactics, sails around the earth in a yacht, write a book...
on a more personal side, for the one left behind I would hope they would be left with a memory that would bring a smile to their face every time they think of me.
