Don't be intimidated, the JWs have no business in family affairs. Each and every time they get involved in things such as these they only make things worse.

1. bethel in ny suspect high level apostate, cant identify it but know its there.
2. major organizational changes about to start rolling out, one is changes to the "service committee" and titles, po to be done away with, thats all i know for now.
was told that if you are the sort of person that cant handle changes, you wont stay in the org for long.
with the news that the book study arrangement might be going away, alot of memories come flying back.
we used to have the study in our house for a couple of years and every week we had to clean our messy house so that it would look spic and span that night.
the cleaning sweeping, doing the dishes, cleaning the bathroom, and vacuming it was such a pain.
Ah, cake night, loved it.
The man that not only fell asleep but was snoring so loud, he had to be woken up. Oh, that was my step-father.
My favorite, upon favorite book study story was the mentally ill brother (no offense) who needed to change his medication, but didn't know it at the time, who was asked to read the last paragraph of the material, at which time, he proceeded to read like he was performing Shakespeare, with different voices for the Jehovah and for each bible verse. I never laughed so hard in my life.
Also, remember it being so hot in a book study we nearly died of heat exhaustion.
I still remember it with a sigh and a smile...

I, for one, am most interested in the name change. This is like reading a novel. So glad I can observe from afar. The fallout should be interesting.

i am now on a mailing list with scriptures for each weekly meeting.
How does happen? Did you sign something when you went? Were you a member before and you faded? Just curious how these things are handled through out the world.
I am so so tempted to make three phone calls and say, "so I heard they are canceling the bookstudy"...two of these people have them in their homes and they feel so privileged. Haha...

seems like the more contentious discussions on the board just go around and around the same tree.
those who have faith in god are delusional, simple minded, or even mentally ill...?.
those who don't believe in god are narrow minded, 2 dimensional, and are missing out on something great...?.
Crusoe,
I understand your words more than you think. :-) Negative attention is still attention, isn't it?
You think you are a bad boy, and you want to be disciplined, but a spanking is not what you need, my dear...

I am a conflict theorist, I believe conflict brings about virtue. I first studied Erik Erikson many years ago when he discussed the conflict theory in regards to personality formation and development and I tend to look at the entire process of life and thought processes as conflicts.
You believe one thing, then there is a conflict within yourself or a conflict that someone has brought to you. The two ideas battle with each other until you resolve it and find a virtue.
I think conflict is an important and necessary part of life, all great thinkers, all revolutionaries were conflict thinkers. They challenged the status quo and changed the course of humanity in the process.
In life, with people with different ideas, different backgrounds, different beliefs, we "crash", there is bound to be "conflict" and that is why even with those that I totally disagreed with, I have learned something even if it is just about myself. I value it.
