When parents take their kids to the kingdom hall regularly and tell them that they are going to face challenges and persecutions, and THEN take them out in FS, those kids are getting a lot more information than Moshe offered up. Those kids are trained from birth to take every advantage to witness to people and let them know who they are. You know they hear a lot more at the doors than Moshe could have said in a two sentence conversation. And those kids probably have also been exposed to verbal abuse and foul language at the door, naked people, vile health conditions and creeps in general. Moshe was probably the nicest person he met all day.

Yeah, get all the drugs you can. . .and if you start hallucinating-lay off the vicodin. That was one bad trip! My personal favorite drug in Fentanyl. Much nicer, happy drug induced state for me. (This is from someone who really can't handle Tylenol 3 without getting weird)
Get well! Enjoy your rest, and eat something really good as soon as they let you.

If I would have known you were going to be nearly mortally injured, I wouldn't have held back-but I am married and didn't want anyone to think I was coming on to you:) You could tell your wife she should never wear those jammies-it might have been your last visual memory of her!!

Should I warn this householder of the danger?
by SirNose586 ini was out today and working with a well-indoctrinated brother ("brother b").
we were hitting houses with tracts then running, until we went on his call.
brother b was trying to give him an asleep and a tract, and invite him to the talk today, which was given by a bethelite (and it was a heavy indoctrination session, which is another story).

I bet the guy is one of us already! He is probably wondering if he should try to rescue the quiet thoughtful guy from the org.! :)

A 'battle' is won
by Anony-Mouse inmom has commented twice recently that she is attracted to men with gotees.
anyways, i read here that beards are not at all banned in the bible (every picture of the bible folks they draw has bearded men), and that it was banned by some power hungery dude in the olden days of the jws (can't remember all those names, erased them from my memory).
well, i ask her if i can have one, despite never wanting that on my face.

You might want to point out that cultural acceptability is not really a main feature of the JW religion. When one uses traditional and culturally acceptable in reference to Christmas or god forbid Halloween or Easter-those are EVIL man made traditions-and just because something is culturally accepted, even EXpected, doesn't mean a 'true worshipper' should follow after those things. It is a thin and lame excuse. And further example of a man made tradition that has no basis in Biblical teachings. Beards are God made, not man made. And slaving after a human fashion WAS explicitly forbidden in the Bible, when it was instructing women to not get caught up in 'braiding of hair' (I am assuming elaborate). Also, men are told in the OT NOT to dress as women, aren't they? (not sure, guessing as some Xians are obsessive about womens/mens dress) Would not shaving ones beard be a 'feminization' of a man and absolutely unacceptable biblically?

i was brought up as a j/w and my mum stopped going when i was a teenager.
i tried to get back into it as an adult but spent more time in the bible studies arguing, so i kind of realised after a few years it was going nowhere.. spent years just studying on my own cos i couldnt find a christian organisation i felt i agreed with and stayed clear of church cos of so called.

Urgent: Moral guidance required
by sass_my_frass inlong story short: my nan, mum's mum (mum's a jw), has two living sisters, aunty a and aunty j; none of them are witnesses and don't like jws very much.
they're all in their eighties.
my nan lives in the state i grew up in but my (great) aunts live in the state i live in now and are visiting my nan.

Hi, I don't know what her next year will be like, but my dad had cancer and he had some transfusions-mostly in the hope that he would get a little more strength to go on, I believe-part of his palliative treatment. I don't know that it actually extended his life or not. I hope it didn't, as he was so miserable. My mom, who is JW didn't fight his wishes on this, if I recall correctly-but my mom has been a little unclear sometimes. I hope your aunt is able to make peace with her kids and that your mom doesn't feel the need to interfere.
Take care-I hope this perhaps brings to your mom how important family relationships are-and that it helps heal or strengthen your relationship with her.

Breaking it to my grandparents
by AirDuster inso i've been deciding for the past year or so whether or not i want to stay in this religion, and i have decided that i do not.
i plan on telling my grandparents (whom i live with) this very soon, possibly tomorrow.
of course i can't be just like "i don't want to be a jehovah's witness anymore", but rather "i don't believe in this anymore, and here are the reasons why".

If it is about serving God, then thats what it is about. If it is about being in an organization, that is a whole other thing. Ask your grandparents whether they want a person sitting next to them that has a total lack of respect for the organization and little respect for many of their doctrinal teachings and no respect for those who honor a lying organization more than the actual truth or if they would rather come home to a grandchild who, loving and respecting them, was honoring his conscience, being a decent human being and serving God the best way that he understands.
Unfortunately, I think they would prefer you to worship the Watchtower B$T$.

The child who told you such an ugly thing knows where you are and can apologise. I don't think you should reach out to that one, especially now. When you are not in such a depressed mode (BTW, see your DOC, MONDAY!!!) then write that simple, I love you, miss you, door is open, letter and leave it at that. I wish you well and happy-don't let bad feelings overwhelm you.
