My wife is truly a non-jw...
by Jim_TX ina little bit of background (for those of you who came in late).... i used to be a jw (no joke!).
i married a jw wife.
we were married for about 20 years, and i couldn't take it anymore - since i was no longer a jw, and didn't believe in their doctrines anymore.. i got divorced in 2002. since that time, i was solo, and then met a nice non-jw woman.

The Apostasy Within
by Ultimate Axiom inin the latest watchtower (july 15, 2014, page 14, paragraph 10) it says; today, jehovahs people are not often confronted with apostasy within the congregation.
still, when exposed to unscriptural teachings, regardless of the source, we must decisively reject them.. so, not often, but occasionally jws are exposed to apostasy within the congregation, and they are instructed to decisively reject it.
as we all know, the vast majority of the apostasy they are exposed to comes from the governing body.. i am meeting up soon with an old friend from the 1970s who i havent seen for decades, who is still an active jw, and who would really like to hear what i think about things.

You got a lot of good suggestions. Mine would be to keep all anger and bitterness out of it. Sadness at what (may have) resulted because of DF'ing/shunning seems ok, but just leave off the vitriolic statements. That will convince him you are an 'evil' apostate instead of someone who made a reasoned, reasonable decision.

Witnesses going rogue - trying to blend in with the world
by BluePill2 init's been a couple of years now since i left the pink-pony-world of the watchtower real estate & money laundering inc.. out of curiosity i researched a couple of "brothers" to see if they are still in, what they are up these days, etc.
using linkedin, facebook, and other online research i come up with this:.
1. branch committee member lothar mihank (formerly in nicaragua, now branch committee in indonesia) presents himself in linkedin as "ceo of ssyi" and tries to pass the borg as some kind of corporation (which is what they are).

Menal illness does not preclude the ability to choose a religion. I am sure that it suits the JWs as much as the rest of us for this man to do himself harm if it keeps him from harming others. avoiding yet another criminal case against a jw suits the borg too,

Evidence of Jesus being Married?
by cantleave inhttp://www.independent.co.uk/news/science/jesus-wife-fragment-is-not-a-fake-scientists-claim-9253395.html.
a harvard professor is claiming a fragment of papyrus seemingly mentioning that jesus had a wife is an ancient document and not a forgery, following a series of tests.. the text is written in coptic and contains a dialogue in which jesus refers to "my wife.
"karen king, a professor at the harvard divinity school, writes in the harvard theological review that the papyrus is almost certainly a product of ancient christians and probably dates to eighth-century egypt, based on carbon dating and chemical tests on the ink.. none of the testing has produced any evidence that the fragment is a modern fabrication or forgery, prof king and her team concluded.. the fragment, which has some legible lines on the front and on the back, contains the words: jesus said to them, my wife .... she will also be my disciple.. james yardley from columbia university, and alexis hagadorn from columbia university libraries, used a technique called micro-raman spectroscopy to determine that the carbon character of the ink matched samples of other papyri that date from the first to eighth centuries ce.. malcolm choat from macquarie university examined the fragment at hds and offered an independent assessment of the handwriting.. prof king first announced the existence of the fragment in september 2012, at the international coptic congress in rome, where she dubbed it "the gospel of jesus's wife.".

Bad coptic grammar discredits it? I am an English teacher and my grammar is pretty iffy at times. OTOH, 8th century is long after the time of Jesus,so it seems speculative one way or the other. Interesting to think about. A 30 year old unmarried Jewish man in that time would be remarkable, however.

I'm here in Pakistan for the memorial and while I know there are JW congregations here, I have no intentions of attending a memorial or anything else at a KH or any JW venue.

Misappropriation of funds (Project for an Assembly Hall in Guadalajara)
by avaddohn94 inat the extj.com forum, a very serious scandal is being discussed regarding a potential misappropriation of funds by mexico's branch.. http://www.extj.com/showthread.php?24740-denuncia--quot-proyecto-fantasma-quot-salon-de-asambleas-de-guadalajara-o-robo-de-fondos.
though the situation may not be quite uncommon, below you will find an overview:.
a member of mexico's branch committee went to guadalajara to inform the brothers that a plot of land had been donated for the construction of an assembly hall.

Man, at first when reading it, I thought it was a 3rd party scam. Even I didn't think that the WT would pull off such a blatant heist. While its very sad taht they would do such a thing, hopefully it will wake up some of the bros n sisters in Mexico. Isnt it NICE that they can keep their own money on deposit with the branch or deposit it to the WW work? Jeez, that is just a stinky way to do things

Is this new donation arrangement for real?
by nugget injust read a post on jwsurvey about the new donation arrangement.
congregations are to pledge a monthly amount to be sent to the society to fund the building of assembly halls and kingdom halls.
congregations who already have a loan from the society will no longer have to pay back the loan but the amount pledged should not be less than the current monthly repayments to the society.

Financial straights-or difficulties. In other words, do you think the WT has money troubles?
Where are you from? Your English is not quite on the mark, but its better than some native English speakers:)

by stuckinarut2 inso the latest clip on jw.org for kids is so wrong!.
it is about the "victory song".
lets all sing songs about how vengeful and destructive "our loving god" can be...along with cartoonish pictures...... all rejoice at the death of the evil people who used their "god-given free will", then got punished for doing so!.

EMETH, John 5:28-29 says that all will be resurrected. Does the WT teach differently?
