Giant ship vs Noah's Ark
by Simon intake a look at this giant ship that's been built and imagine if would still be large enough to house all the animals on the planet for an extended period of time.. the ship, with modern materials and tools, would take a single person nearly 8,000 years to complete.
how many more people designed it and supplied the materials?
imagine how many trees would be required and how long it would take to transport them alone.. still think noah's ark is feasible?.

JWStruggle post: Bethel Layoffs Reveal a Kingdom without Clothes
by Londo111 inhttp://www.jwstruggle.com/2013/07/bethel-layoffs-reveal-a-kingdom-without-clothes/.
despite everything, i still have a lingering admiration toward those who serve or have served in bethel.
it is not that i believe it is gods organization in any way, shape, or form.

My mom had an elderly sister in her hall that "took in" a former bethelite who was to help her out at home a little in exchange for a place to live and utilities. The woman harangued her so much about everything that she ended up asking her to leave. She wasn't doing what she was asked and she was judging her about how much time she spent in service or missed meetings.
The elderly woman recently passed on at about the age of 95. She had been through a lot in her life, obeyed the WT and rejected her kids when they left and everything. . . and this kicked out ex bethelite judged her for not getting in her time and for expecting that she did the laundry that she had agreed to do. . . anyway, the elderly woman was one of the kindest and most generous people in the hall(kids notwithstanding, of course), so being asked to leave her house was pretty much a scarlet letter for the ex bethelite. Never heard about what happened to her, but her arrogance did not serve her well.

The Pyramids how old after all, and what are they all about????
by Crazyguy inhas anyone here done any serious research on the pyramids of egypt and others???
it has been said that these objects were roughly made around 2500-3000 bce (the 3 at giza).
other people have stated they are much older.

A sarcophagus (the case to hold the coffin)was found in one of the Giza pyramids. I guess Tutankhamen was not found in a pyramid so he doesn't count. A mummy of a queen (allegedly) was found in a small pyramid in Saqqara in one of the queen's pyramids.

I have been to the pyramids. Many of them are built in a way that makes them pretty funky looking. The 3 at Giza are the biggies that we all pay attention to,but there are some oddly shaped ones that are older. They learned techniques by trial and error, clearly. Stonecutting tools and techniques for masons have not changed a lot. The basic principles are fairly constant. I would say that the manpower has definitely decreased (with the diamond tipped, modern tools, transportation and lifting equipment).
Artisans do things right if they want a particular result. We can see this in centuries old buildings all over the world. And some people just slapped together materials and called it good. Some of those are still around, too. Engineering has come a long ways, but it's math and math is not as hard for everyone as is it to me. Some of the pyramids are pretty badly constructed and show poor engineering. These people were not aliens or geniuses. They were builders.
The pyramids were originally covered with a limestone that covered up the construction details. The way we see them now is probably not nearly as beautiful as they were when they were shiny new, but they are, amazingly, still beautifully majestestic.
If you ever go to visit, take a taxi out, find a guide at the site and you will save a lot over the tour guys from hotels. IF you negotiate with the taxi away from your hotel and IF you negotiate with a guide. Don't ever take the yellow cabs when you are a visitor. Just trust me on this.

A day in the life of a Cop...my story. The truth.
by Witness 007 ini work for a mental health unit with 2 police officers we deal with people who have drug and mental health issues.
at times over the last 10 years we have "taken down" some large drug affected men, mainly "ice" these days which is epidemic here, and let me tell you even with three of us it is a huge struggle.
sometimes back up is needed or mace spray which is aweful stuff!

I would hate to be a police officer. The good get maligned with the bad and the public sees so much and hears so much that your work is only that much more of a challenge.
Take care! My favorite Starbucks friend here in Houston is a constable in a nearby neighborhood and he sees a lot more action than anyone would imagine of a policeman who has a patrol in a nice neighborhood.

South American "Mayan" mob justice. Have you heard of it??
by DATA-DOG ini have a close friend who has jw family in south america.
recently some criminals ran through their town.
the locals routinely practice "mayan justice" where the criminals are beaten or burned to death, depending on the crime.. the authorities try to stop it, but they are not always successful.

I wish that all the current victims would be told to go straight to the police and medical facilities and if the 'suspect' is a JW, then they should tell the elders who will take action. Or something like that. It is not the elders job to be judge and jury of a CRIMINAL matter. They are supposedly moral guides. You can rat out your sister for heavy petting between two adults which is legal (and JWs do!), but they tiptoe around criminal abuse. It is nuts.
You know, the WT would not be "responsible" for any abuse if they did the right and decent thing from the get go. There would be no scandals-all groups have creeps and perverts. Not all groups feel compelled to pretend they are perfect havens of joy, truth and glorious happiness. It is the pretending that is costing them (and victims). That there are creepy JWs I can forgive-I had a creepy uncle. But his actions were not condoned or hidden. Which is why he is known as the creepy uncle. Creeps should not be allowed to hide their actions.

Eventually, the WT may teach that we are in the 1,000 year reign NOW.
by EndofMysteries ini wouldn't be surprised if one day the wt says we are in the 1,000 year reign now.
show scriptures how nothing is shown that people are living forever or not dying during the 1,000 year reign.
scriptures how the finale of gog of magog in ezekiel is by fire coming from heaven to consume the armies and how it was to show the world his return, etc.

While I am not confident of the details that you suggest, the basic premise-I'm surprised that one hasn't begun already. Except they need some intense persectution and they aren't getting any more than some self induced and/or mostly avoidable issues.
It doesn't matter though, how they explain it or what they say. Most JWs won't argue about it.

Flipper, as always, thank you for the update! You are definitely a guy to count on. I appreciate you and your wife so much in the support of fellow board members and just other humans in general. There is a saying that a loved one of mine uses-his ultimate goal-to be a person who does more than his duties, expecting less than his due and to do it with a smile. You seem to be that kind of human being and a blessing to the rest of us!

The Watchtower Confirms that The "Faithful & Discreet Slave" in 1914 Were Prophets.
by objectivetruth inresponding to the question - who are the two witnesses mentioned in revelation chapter 11?.
"so in the fulfillment of revelation chapter 11, the anointed brothers who took the lead at the time of the establishment of gods kingdom in heaven in 1914 preached in sackcloth for three and a half years.
" (watchtower 2014 11/15 pp.28-30).

The WT didn't make that prophecy. They just repeated it the prophecies in the Bible. There is a difference between discussing another prophets words and giving your OWN words of prophecy. The Bible says it repeatedly and not in any kind of vagueness. It is very clear.

I hope we hear back from Cognac soon! With all this going on, I worry! Does anyone know her personally to know that she is ok?
