I think the Dills were a prominent JW family 35-40 years ago in W. Washington. . . Name is odd and very familiar. I seem to remember a round, bald headed man, but that could just be a visual that seems to go with the name. -

Becoming officially inactive
by All for show ini don't want to turn in my token time anymore.
it's only a few hours counting what we do with the kids.
i don't want it counted for their skewed statistics- or to just for the sake of doing it.

What's the worst that will happen if you stop turning in time? If you aren't fornicating on the front lawn, they really have no actual "recourse". You owe them nothing. -

Wells in Africa and India. Clean water is taken for granted here. Find a charity that you believe in with good administration for a good portion of it and settle something for your grandkids education-just cause it would be a nice gift.
Please don't send it to the WTBTS.

As if the guy didn't dismiss the JWs dozens of times while living in chicago for decades.
If this IS true (and who knows? Who cares?) the most alarming thing is that the SS or FBI (whatever) has such lax security for the leader of the semi-free world.

Relief Work: Alberta Flooding
by StephaneLaliberte insummary:.
jehovahs witnesses claim to use portion of the contributions given to the world wide work funds for relief work.
unfortunately, as shown by the alberta flooding video, they seem to have a greater interest in reporting (or advertising) it than they are in actually releasing funds for such work.. introduction.

Most JWs would not care. They are not called on to help people in this world but to preach to them about the NEW world. So, they dismiss earthly relief works as a temporary vanity in any case (unless their town is flooded. JWs are mostlly good folks at heart and will do what they can individually to help others, especially if it is a JW, and not expect that the org will hire any bulldozers or bring in tanks of fresh water) -

Experience in a talk
by Da.Furious inlast week we had an elder giving a talk, cant remember the title.. the thing that was of interest is the experience he gave:.
"a brother who was working in a hospital had to leave his job which was paying him good money because the nurses wanted to sleep with him and they kept putting notes for him on his desk!".
this is not the first time i hear similar experience.

I have had people flirt with me, and perhaps the option to PURSUE such a thing were I so inclined, but the majority of people are not interested in sexually pursuing an unwilling partner in the place that pays them a salary. Furthermore, we livein 2014 and this is presumably in the western world. That means that we have legal recourse against anyone sexually harrassing us. Some guy just wanted to quit his job, have his wife/parents support him in the meantime and "pioneer" so that he gets brownie points.
Ok, the last bit was me being cynical. The stuff before that is true and every JW, when out of the mindnumbing meeting, will know it.

Didn't a male on this forum recently relate a story about how when his sexual encounter with his fiance was found out bythe elders that their only choice was tomarry quickly in vegas or something? It was that or disgrace/DFing? It seems the wife was devastated and it ruined their marriage before it began (though I guess it is arguable that she would have been a cold fish anyway, they will never know, she lost her options).
That would be a forced marriage then, right?
I don't object to arranged marriages where there is a choice. I do object to anyone being forced to go through with it. Unfortunately, there are too manyfamilies that don't even see these kind of arrangements as being "forced" even though many have married just to please family expectations when their parents would never THINK of "forcing" them to do so.

Still pointing your Finger when having a Rafter in your eye?
by DocHouse inyes- everyone has faults and makes mistakes; an organization even more so.. yet, you ignore all the fingers pointing at you.. many here have no faith.
many here go to churches who lie about everything biblical; look at x-mas!.
but at least we know god and christ and try to live up to their name!.

Poster country flags and privacy
by Simon inthe new forum originally had a little country flag next to each post showing the country that the post was made from based on the geoip encoding (the country the ip address is from).
before i switched over to the new site someone made an issue about it violating their privacy and i didn't want to complicate and confuse the switchover with policy debate at the same time as technical issues so removed the flags even though i disagreed.. someone has already requested it as a feature and i think it should be added back so i thought it's now time to open the discussion and get everyone's opinions.
first, the reason i think it should be shown:.

Being absolutely selfish, I would put my state up! I'm blessed in that I have nothing to hide or anyone that would care to out me on here. I do think that if folks have given out too much info on one name and Simon decides to let us have our flags again, then maybe they would change their handle and be more discrete in the future. It would be a PITB for someone who is popular here, but I guess that is the risk that any fugitive takes. And how pathetic is it that a person would have to worry about such a thing? Former adherents are FUGITIVES! How messed up is that???
Personally, I'd just throw any accusers accusation right back at them while denying any claims. Think about it-the accuser is using the site enough to recognize an anonymous poster by details given over years of involvement. Just throw the accusation at them while lying through your teeth if you wish. The Elders can't "prove" anything. They are just waiting for your submissive acquience to being 'caught'. Don't give it to them!

anyone who says a white wedding dress isn't the focus of the event has obviously never known a bride. Just saying!
