Latest on Otuo v Jonathan David Morely & Watchtower Bible and Tract Society + Otuo v Watchtower Bible & Tract Society
by Adwoa Kromo ina month ago someone inquired about where the case against watchtower in otuo v watchtower was at currently.
firstly the claimant has brought two separate claims against the watchtower .
case 1 relates to a suit in slander premised on the words , "frank otuo is no longer a jehovah witness".

The WT likes legal technicalities. Whether they win or lose, if they have made technical arguments to barr or win a case they can claim persecution if not victory. It doesn't matter why they are victorious or that they are not really persecuted, but they have their excuses in their pocket. -

Just had a blow up with jw mom and she said the bible referenced angels being called gods, it that true?
by Question_Mans_interpretation inlong story short my mom was acting weird, snubbing me, when i tried bringing her grandkids to see her, so i tried again and this time i just went up and hugged her since she wouldn't hug me or acknowledge any affection.
when i released her i immediately saw her annoyed look and asked what?
bang, she unleashes a floodgate of how she's still mad at me for going to another church that believes the trinity.

As the trinity isnt that critical to you (and I never bought it), you might want to think about what I said to my mom.l
I told my mom that I chose to go to churches that encouraged people to follow christ and to show his character. I did not and do not feel that the dogma is what is what IDs "true" christians, it is the way they demonstrate a christian character. JWs discourage all the true neighborly and brotherly love that is taught in the NT-it ignores the best counsel to christians and makes up legalistic rules.
I am no longer a christian, but I totally respect Christians who are following Jesus' example of love. I don't care about denonimations-a JW, Mormon, catholic, baptist. . . but CHURCHES that are just pushing dogma while leaving the real teachings behind-are useless.

They are hotshots in the org and there are some folks out and about the could conceivably have anger towards them-or who just want to make a statement, generally. In a big crowd it seems like not a bad idea, honestly. Few are young men and there are some angry folks around.
HOWEVER, if one considers that until maybe 15- 20 years ago, Bill Gates traveled around in a Toyota Camry kind of car on his own when he was worth a LOT more than the Org ever has been. . . they do seem to be rather self important generally. A lot more folks give and gave a darn about what Bill gates did and said than will ever give a rats ass about what the Borgians have to say.

I have people close to me from Pakistan who remember 1975 predictions that they learned of while IN Pakistan. There are indeed JWs there(and they preached that date a LOT there) and there have been for many years. They are open (There are large Christian groups in Pakistan, particularly in the more southern areas) in their faith for the most part, as most Christians are. The non-trinitarian aspect of the WT teachings is a door opener to Christianity as a whole to Muslims and Hindu's alike (a lot of both also in S. Pakistan). Officially, I don't know if they are recognized, but unofficially, they are not hiding.
While you hear of horrible instances of religious based crime(well, even in OUR country), for the most part, they get along fine among all three religions. The family I am close to has Hindu doctors and Christian drivers and maids who are treated as family members and were honored guests in the home I was visiting. It is noteworthy that those who become Christian are usually from the lower castes and are coming from a disadvantaged social position-but they are just like every Indian I have ever met-they are crazy about getting their kids educated and helping them move up a few levels of the social ladder(both Islam and Christianity don't support the caste system though it lingers in some areas. I wonder how the love of education and upward mobility translates among the JWs who are at best, ambivalent and at worst, hostile towards higher education? I only met Catholics while there.

Worst Memorial Talk Ever!
by The Searcher ini honestly have never heard such claptrap being delivered in a memorial talk.. the speaker repeatedly put down the way other religions administered the bread & wine, and claimed that witnesses do it exactly as the bible describes.
oh yeah????.
he forgot to mention - when reading aloud 1 corinthians 11:25 - that after passing the bread, a full meal was to be shared, before the wine was passed around!

I am staying with my mom and she is so past giving a damn that she didn't even mention it to me. She came home late as I was coming home and told me she had just been to memorial.
I'm kind of surprised but not really. She knows she doesn't want to ever start a conversation with me because I will be better informed than she is (other than knowing when she watched everyone pass around food they weren't eating and wine they weren't drinking).
I guess I am the swine she no longer throws pearls at.

JW Son dead in German plane crash, no big deal!
by noolite inseems to be a jw connection with the crash after all, but it wasn't the co-pilot as some had surmised.
the father of the only american male killed in the crash weighs in with a very mild assessment of the mass murderer, and doesn't seem overly concerned about his son, now deceased.. ---------------------------------------------------------------- .
"the parents of an american victim of the french alps plane crash said on 27 march they feel sadness for the parents of the co-pilot rather than feeling anger for the loss of their son.. robert tansill oliver, a jehovah's witness, lost his 37-year-old son robert oliver calvo in the germanwings plane crash.. "i don t feel anger.

The rule of the world, in this case, is not the cause of the crash. One nutty human being going against EVERY rule of the world did this.
I did think his response was cold and dishonest. He sadly seemed very detached, but I will credit him with being in shock. No matter what I think of the WT, most JWs sincerely do love their family. The dishonest bit? He will take the blood money when it is offered, as will everyone else. Nothing to do with being a JW or not. Just human. Its the only justice he will get.

Why attack?
by newqatarjob inas someone brought up as a jw and been an elder and been disfellowshipped (twice!!!
) i find it difficult to understand why ex jws have to attack the religion, yes religion, not cult or sect.
i am no longer disfellowshipped just do not want to practice anymore.

JWdaughter
Its a damaging religion. Maybe they all are, I don't know, but there seems no possibility of one being unscathed after being a part of it.
How do you like Qatar? I loved living there.
