What disfellowshippable offenses have you done for the day?

today, as i celebrated the last day in the first half of my 20's, i started doing all sorts of sinful things.

i have done the following disfellowshippable offenses i've smoked weed, i've been on an unchaperoned date (with the most wonderful person in the world, my beautiful and still charming ex girlfriend), i've gotten drunk, talked to a disfellowshipped person, and to boot, i'm on an apostate site.

Today I was on this board. Otherwise I haven't smoked, gotten a blood transfusion, read porn, fornicated, adulterated, or done anything that is now or has formerly been a disfellowshipping offence.

OOOPS, I lied(amazingly, not something that tends to get one disfellowshipped! And LYING is an actual sin). Today my daughter turned 15, I bought her a cake and ice cream, gave her gifts, sang happy bd. Thought about how happy I am that I have her. That will get me sent to eternal destruction or whatever quick, won't it. Because SOME might interpret the gifts or cake as acts of WORSHIP!!!!

Shoot, I was so proud that I wasn't a sinner by anyones standards for one day!

Leaving the meeting early

why is it that when ever you would leave the meetings any earlier then when they were all done...did you feel like everyone was watching you or even sometimes guilty?

sometimes, i would leave at 'halftime' (at the second song) either to go to work or just because i was having trouble dealing with the b.s.

and of course everyone was nosey and would ask my elder dad after the meetings where i went as though i was off to commit some horrible crime.

Leaving at funny times during a regular church service just means you are leaving early for a reason(no guilt) or working in childrens church, awana, nursery, helping with refreshments or teaching sunday school. Something other than listening to the kool aid talk.

When the meetings went till 9, on tuesdays-the service meeting, a lot of times my mom took us home at half time and we only lived 3 minutes from the hall and sometimes we could watch Happy Days. . .I kind of enjoyed the SM though, that is when we got the 'announcements' and our hall was pretty active in disfellowshipments, reproofs, disassociations and generally scandalous things. ALSO that is when you get the best 'encouragment about the end times, the crude(YES CRUDE!) FS stories and some goofy little demonstrations. I was a geek about it till I was 14 or 15. After that article in the early 80's, the little discussion a honest elder had with us pretty much ended the romance though.

my son (almost 13) and i got home from school shopping and there was a package in the door.

Hi,

I gotta say, having been raised in that group, that if I were you, I would use my parental perogative to

1)Tell the JWs that the subject is NOT to be brought up to him

2)He is NOT to go to meetings or in field service and

3) That if they feel that is impossible, then they are welcome to visit him while you supervise.

4)Because you shouldn't HAVE to explain all that mess to your son if he can't grasp it all and he sounds like he is so eager to please/placate them that he will do what it takes for that to happen.

Don't give him up to that cult or its adherents. If they love him, they can refrain until he is an adult and still maintain a positive relationship with him. If not, they don't really love him, they just see him as a potential convert/study that is a captive audience.

I know you will do what you know for your son is the wisest thing. This is what I had to do with my mom, or we would not be able to maintain a relationship.

Big Announcement - From JW Elder

the jws are soon(next few months) going to make a public proclamation against all other churches which he was confident would 'shake things up' and would make a few jws unhappy???.

is this the big announcement for september?

I wonder if there will be any other actions-talks,magazine tie ins, old fashioned advertising such as Russell and Rutherford were so fond of, picketing churches etc. to go along with the tract?

I think Vegas would probably be more fun if, unlike myself, you visit for reasons other than funerals. Last time I was there was after my nephew was murdered. The times before that were relative visits filled with family drama(none of it entertaining) and relatives who were offended if you didn't want to sleep on their living room floor with 2 children in a house filled with snarling dogs. . .rather than the nice hotel down the street. I loved the red rocks though. . .the drive down there, the last one going the length of nevada in a non AC car with those same 2 children inspired me to beg my husband to stop and just let me out of the car. . .

well, the hard, rusty gears of theocratic justice has begun to turn, and the teeth have caught me.

for those of you who read my earlier threads, in february of 2005, a "sister" i had known for almost 30 years contacted me and wanted to know what i had learned in the years since i had faded.

after granting me full assurance of confidentiality, in writing, i disclosed to her the un scandal.

Elsewhere is right. Sue her. The world needs a precedent that doesn't favor their rights to religion,free speech, and confidentiality blah blah blah, because along with those rights come RESPONSIBILITY, and they can't have it both ways.

I am a person who has been in a position to sue at times and have refrained, but in this case, I would not refrain.

A Bad experience with JW is a permit for SIN?

i've been reading some sad experinces here... i dont see anyone talking about the bible... only how misserables the organization made their lives... ok ...so because of that...now i have permission to smoke marijuana and commit fornication?

this sounds pretty much like aa... and everybody having his/her personal "superior power" who is giving them the permit to do whatever they want...

i've been df for 4 years now and also dont agree with some jw teachings... why instead of blaming the wt for everything dont we look for the real truth in the bible and make things right.

If nothing else, this board might show the WTS as such an evil and hateful organization that it drives people to extremes to not be associated with anything to do with it. . .which is not to say that is anyones particular motivation here, but it could be interpreted as such by a person who has been around for awhile as both a JW and an ex-JW associate. And one who has close family dealings with JWs. Or one could go for the "They were NEVER Jehovah's people and the org is well rid of them" theory. Or "The org is bloodguilty for driving people so far from God that they call themselves 'satanus'."

Or it could be, of course, just that some people like to smoke and fornicate.

Just finished defrosting my deep freeze, and what did I find?

since i can only get them once a year, i usually buy a few boxes and freeze them.

Does not matter how deeply I dig in-my family can find anything I hide in the freezer. I am lucky if the cookies make it to the house-forget the freezer! My husband is a thin mint fiend. The ice cream is to die for!
