The lads church will likely get its turn. It doesn't seem to just pick on the Roman Catholic church or Jehovah's Witnesses. -

Not a lot of Starbucks in Utah, but they do a lot besides caffeinated drinks. Ever had cranberry bliss bar? Smores frappucino? It's pricey though so shade is a good guess. -

Is the two-witness rule really unreasonable?
by stillin ini'm picturing a situation in which a savvy 12 year old doesn't like the house rules that mom's new husband has put into place.
or something along that line.
i can certainly agree that protection of children is paramount, but who protects the real victim in those cases?

There is no perfect justice in our system of justice, but it's a darn sight better than a bunch of untrained yahoos playing at being police, investigators, jurors, judges and appellate courts . All at once. -

1,000 sex abuse cases hidden in Australia for 68,000 publishers...what is it worldwide?
by cappytan inthe press is reporting that over 1,000 cases of abuse were hidden from authorities in australia.. australia has around 68,000 publishers.. if you that ratio applied to the u.s. also, there could be over 14,700 cases that were covered up here.. if the ratio held the same worldwide, that would be over 117,600 cases.. just let that sink in a little..

In 1950 there were >7000 publishers. In 1960, 14000. Now 68000+.
Hmmm. Had they grown at that pace -since they more than doubled between 1960 nbd 1970, theyd have 450,000 by 2010, 675,000 by 2015.

A conversation with some one relating to the investigation in australia
by joe134cd injust thought i would relate a conversation i was having with a some what of a wishey washey jw.

I think it would temper some persecuted attitudes if youd remind them that the jws are one religion of many. The catholic church started this process
Religion is not going to be destroyed for any of this. Its reforming. Across the board folk will begin to recognise their obligations to protect their flocks rather than their religions reputation.

I like the idea of undermining jw teaching if at all possible. Use it fir good, then withdraw from school.
OTOH, you could eat a few ex lax and have a viable excuse for staying home again. Just so your wife is sympathetic. Mention the roach coach lunch in passing(gas, or whatever you are passing at that point ;) )

Did the Governing Body sucessfully fend off this bad news on thier TV Broadcast??
by Wasanelder Once inremember there was a talk about not listening to "false stories" about sexual abuse from apostates on jw's fantasy station?
did the governing body put it out there as preemptive damage control because they knew this was coming?
they must have had subpoenas giving them a heads up.

These are not coming from the world. the accusations are coming from jw children and their parents within the org.
WT offenders do have a protection against the world if they keep their abusing to family and congregation members. The policy here does help them because if you think there isnt a whole lot taken care of with a comment about not making jahs people look bad then youd be naive. Or a dad going directly to the one accused by his child and dropping it at that point because of denial, repentance or some other old boys club understanding that makes sense to those 2 alone.

An elder, Chief MD in Honolulu clinic goes door to door. Testimony given at JW convention
by AndersonsInfo inhttp://www.pressreader.com/usa/honolulu-star-advertiser/20150725/281848642300889/textview.
it sounds to me like he was a jw before he became a physician.
"kalauawa, who became a jw 31 years ago, said he had to overcome a major conflict between his religious and professional beliefs, because jws are opposed to blood transfusions.

I think the only conscience issue they have a right to as doctors is about killing or abortions. They are obligated to administer the most appropriate medical treatment for their patients. -

His ordering blood for them would not conflict with JW teaching about abstaining. It's not going in HIS body.
However
The mental gymnastics seem stupid. JWs hold that not only are transfusions are morally wrong to obtain, they teach that they are totally avoidable-so, if he really believed the best medical practices forbid it, he would have no such conflicts.
