Song of Solomon
by Zico inthe song of solomon is being covered in the kh highlights this week.
last night, the brother doing this talk went into detail about how this has a greater fulfillment, in that it applies to christ and the loyalty of his bride class, the anointed.
surely this is just a love story between solomon and the girl?

JW's speak about the method used to kill people at armageddon
by jambon1 injust how is it all going to happen?
i mean, you dont have to be a friggin rocket scientist to work out the logistics of 6 billion+ corpses on the face of the earth!
to be honest, i know its a lot of bullshit but it intrigues/angers me to think back to some of the ludicrous converstaions i overheard regarding the murder of 6 billion+ people in the 'near' future.

Its nauseating, however, the Christian fundamentalists who believe all non-christians will burn in hell forever are certainly no better, in fact, they're worse: they relish the ETERNAL suffering of non-christians, at least the JWs consider it a "one-time" execution.....
How any rational mind can accept such rubbish is astounding.

How Often Do You Pray?
by Anitar ini know this might sound silly, but one of the most annoying things i find about my mom being a jw is how often she prays.
normally, i would never criticize someone for praying to god, but she prays in such a way that makes me angry for some reason.
let me explain:.

Let me say that again, she said grace over a CHICKEN NUGGET!!
"Oh Jehovah, we give thanks for this delicious golden chicken nugget we are about to receive!;
Yay, we ask mercy on the soul of the chicken who was so bravely cast into the blender; and lo,
tho we doubt this fried nugget actually contains any chicken meat, we thank thee for the plentitude of
polyunsaturated fats, glycerols, MSG and dye # 32 we are about to ingest.....We also pray for our brothers less
fortunate than us, those living in "non-chicken nugget" countries who cannot partake of the rich and bountiful
harvest of Ronald Mcdonald....through your son christ jesus, grimace and hamburgler, amen......"

What was your final straw that broke your back in terms of doctrine?
by ukescott inas ex-mormon, my exposure to a different version of the first vision story which was quite different from the offical first vision was my beginning way out of mormonism.
what about you ex-jw's?
what, in terms of wt doctrine, made you realize that the wt is a fraud?.

Two major impacts:
1) The elastic 1914 generation "new light" in 1995.
2) Taking a first year biology course at University and finally realizing all the lies and twisted anti-evolution propaganda that was contained in the "Creation Book".

What bothers you more, snakes or spiders
by free2beme init is pretty common among us humans to have an issue with one of the big two.
we either have a discomfort with them, or just dislike them all together.
personally, i am not real against being around either, but if i had to choose which one i see in a more negative way, it would be spiders.

I love snakes and had several pet Garters. I had one named Seth that was extremely cute and affectionate and would take naps on my arm as he loved the warmth. Granted Garters
are totally harmless and tame. As for spiders, they dont really bother me and I appreciate them around the garden as a natural form of pest control. My only big freak-out is "millipedes", I mean the ones with a million legs that you see scurrying around the floor. I find earwigs and cockroaches disgusting as well.

"I fully believe that what you've had happen is supernatural. Who, what, why is another issue."
>No, not really another issue. Any thinking human being capable of rational thought would seek an explanation for an unknown phenomenon. I wonder, if you went to a doctor, who, without ever examining you said, "I believe you have cancer. How, where and why is another issue" would you put as much faith in their claim?
"When you have credible, sane people"
>Credible and sane by whose criteria? Both terms are sliding scales...
"all saying they've had/seen something out of the ordinary, why do the nay-sayers come out in force declaring it not to be true just because they haven't had this experience?"
>Whose saying its not true? What the skeptic doubts is the proposed "supernatural" explanations that are offered for events for which no tangible evidence (beyond a cute story) are ever offered. I can simultaneously believe an individual "believes" they had such and such experience that within their own minds, was real. That does not make it real. Whats more, I can accept how a person "perceived" a particular sensory experience while simultaneously considering alternative, more empirical explanations for why they perceived what they did....
"Would they then have to believe that a "higher power" exists out there in the universe?"
> I think its more an issue of those claiming supernatural experiences desperately wanting to believe that there IS a supernatural world, and by extension, god. Regardless, as Six rightly pointed out, even if tangible proof for supernatural phenomena was ever presented, it would in no way be evidence for some "god-like" creature existing in the universe.

That Casper can be such a trouble maker! Making people take a dump with their winter coats on! For shame! LOL.....

"I have calmed down now, but I just can't believe how it is impossible to get in a single point with him."
Its pretty much impossible. For that reason, I just completely avoid anything related to religion when talking to my parents. Remarkably, it does seem to work and we maintain a very peaceful relationship simply by pre-emptively avoiding any JW-related issues. An active JW is ALWAYS correct, in their own minds and it is impossible to penetrate this shell of denial.
