god is the collective repository of human fear.
satan is the collective repository of human guilt.
after leaving the witness does anyone here believe satan exists?
if yes do you think if we "gave" satan some kind of a challenge to prove he exists would it happen?
if he is so hell-bent on proving jehovah/ witnesses wrong would he go to such great lengths to make sure ppl turn away?
god is the collective repository of human fear.
satan is the collective repository of human guilt.
london has my sincerest condolences on this great day of tragedy.
during this difficult time, it is easy to become full of hate and want vengence.
i know all about those feelings, and i remember in the bible somewhere where it states, "vengence is mine, sayith the lord.
Tetra,
I enjoyed reading that exchange, but alas, its a losing battle. Religionists will always fall back on the standard circular logic unwilling
to accept that magical thinking (i.e. hell, heaven, the easter bunny, tooth fairy, etc) are simply social constructions implanted in the brain
over millions of years of human and societal evolution. You may enjoy this article from the journal "Medical Hypotheses" where they identify various regions in
the medial prefrontal cortex responsible for the generation of religious ideation and religious delusions.

man, i had to read at the book study tonight (which is still at my house btw).. this was the first of the real "meat" of the daniel book (spam more like it, actually).. anyways, for those of you that don't know i am trying to get up the nerve to explain to my wife what i have been learning.
i found tonight was a good night to make some comments in a non-threatening "book study" environment that she (hopefully) will remember.. this weeks book study lesson is posted here, by the way:.

grissom/baldi needs his antipsychotic medication refilled. Try Walgreens....open 24 hours.
i'm curious how many here were witnesses.
for those that were, what are your current religeous affiliations?
i'm still evolving, but currently i consider myself to be a cross between an agnostic and a deist.
Yes I would certainly agree about a subpopulation of ex-jws becoming fanatic upon leaving. I wonder why that is. My guess would be 1) still suffering from extreme god-guilt instilled by the WTS indoctrination, 2) a "religious identity" has become inextricably linked with their sense of self-worth hence the need to continue the same persona under a new religious brand-name, 3) in some sad way, they hope to use the 'new' religious message to get back the family they have lost to the WTS? I find it sad to see ex-jws continuing in some other form of religious fanatacism after having been liberated from the WTS.

The overwhelming majority of people I know that have left the WTS are now either agnostic or atheist (including myself). I believe the exposure during early childhood (to those born into it) to such a terrifying, wrathful, vengeful god, the entire concept of "christianity" whereby we are automatically guilty of sin simply by being born human and that god in his infinite wisdom had decided to let the devil cause untold horror and suffering on the earth because jehovah had to defend his ego against satans "challenge" just made no sense whatsoever to a rational mind. The question before me was, how can I worship a god that by all measures is morally and ethically inferior to me? I would not let my children die to prove a point nor would I tolerate such behaviour from anybody else. For these and many many other reasons, I think most of the ex-JWs I know, are now totally non-religious, but hey, thats just my immediate circle. Why throw away one pair of psychological crutches just to go find another?
my 5 year old starts school in aug at the same time my wife and i are facing the crisis of leaving the wt.
to any who left the wt with small children how did you handle things?
how do you handle holidays?
Sounds like an extremely difficult situation. Thankfully, your child is just beginning school and hasnt had to go through the socially isolating and humiliating
experiences we went through in grade school. I think its possible you may be projecting your own anxiety about the situation to your kid. Kids are so resilient and open minded
(which is why, unfortunately, its so easy to get 7 year olds baptized) I think if they have the wonderful opportunity to begin fresh in school as a "normal" kid, things will be
fine. But I guess it all depends on the pre-existing level of belief the child had prior to this. Wow, this is a tough one. I wish you all the best whatever the decision is.
Cheers.

Swift military actions?
Lets see: bomb the hell out of Iraq killing thousands of innocent civilians and occupy a muslim country that had nothing to do with 9-11 and
simultaneously establish the new Iraqi state which is now the biggest terrorist and jihadist training camp in the world and at the same time
let Bin Laden tip-toe through the opium fields in Afghanistan? Thanks Dubya....good plan!!!
so, here's the skinny:.
i haven't been to a meeting in over two years.
i haven't been in service since i can't remember when.
I dont get it either. If you no longer have any social contact with the old congregation anyway, I dont think you would be perceived as a spiritual threat, unless there were some new fanatics in the hall determined to go on a witch-hunt. I would just completely and utterly ignore them....dont return the calls, dont attend any JCs, dont answer the door. In short, dont give them the satisfaction of the power trip.

By engaging in pseudo "theological" arguments with this individual, you are simply reinforcing the extreme cognitive dissonance this brainwashed troll is undoubtedly experiencing. He has likely been off his medication for several weeks now which may explain why he is doing his field service on "apostate" web sites. We are all so beyond the mindless tripe and circular WTS logic spewed by this half-wit it hardly seems worth the effort to post any responses at all. Admittedly though, I do find the trolls amusing in a 'freak-show' kind of way!
i think when he finally kicks the bucket that the gb will allow the rank and file to save thier lives with a blood transfussion.
from randy's site:.

There is no other way to put it. They are collectively guilty of thousands of murders. It would be interesting if somebody actually did an analytical investigation into exactly how many deaths have resulted not only from the absurd blood policiy, but also from the older vaccine and organ transplant bans...tens of thousands I am sure. What has always disgusted me is the complacency of most governments to have allowed this to happen. I believe there are limits to religious freedom. When a sect ignores and violates the most basic moral foundations of a civilized society, action must be taken. How our governments have tolerated the "child sacrifice" of the WTS is beyond my comprehension. disgusting.
