Hibiscus and def-d need to issue a joint FINAL statement to clarify once and for all their true relationship status....at that point, I believe we can say a tearful farewell to this ancient thread!!

The Bible...trust in Faith or trust in Fact?
by jgnat ini read the most extraordinary claim the other day.
"the bible is factual.
" i wondered, how could the speaker possibly back up such a claim?

The grass became greener. The sky became bluer. My life became infused with meaning that always eluded my proudly rational mind. I immediately began to have experiences stemming from my new perspective.
Ditto, except these were my feelings immediately upon my realization that there was no god.

My son will be 9 tomorrow and we celebrated his first b-day yesterday!
by findingmyway init was a surprise and he felt a little awkward -- especially when we sang the birthday song -- but he embraced it.
he was so excited to see that everyone came for him and brought gifts and he was very appreciative!

THE MOTIVES OF GOOD JWS WHO POST ON THIS SITE
by steve2 inwhile i think it's perfectly okay, i do wonder what motivates jws to post here and especially to also express views critical of ex-jws.
is it the freudian notion of "projection": the jw who denounces something in others that he or she is also guilty of?
hence, if a jw clearly denounces an apostate's faults, it must mean the jw is really against apostasy when it might be something he or she struggles with.

I am certain many of them are counting field service time. As for def-d, he certainly has some of the "rebel" in him and I believe its just a matter of time before we are all sharing a beer with him when he hosts "Aposta-Fest" 2006.
"Scholar" is a computer virus that forces the board to generate the words "celebrated watchtower scholars" randomly every 10 or 20 posts.

Watchtower Gives Up Explaining 607 BCE Date!
by VM44 inthis is a very important observation, that the watchtower has not tried to explain in print why 607 bce is the year for the destruction of jerusalem for the last 17 years!!!.
all that the watchtower has done over most of the last two decades is to repeat over and over the year "607bce" in its publications as if it is an unquestioned fact!.
the last time an explaination for the year was attempted by the watchtower was in 1988 when the "insight" volumes were published, but since then, no explaination for the validity of the year has appeared in print.. this must mean something, but what?

Scholar is a daily reminder of why we left the borg collective in the first place. He is a perfectly programmed Watchtower( TM ) android.

Not fully applying scriptures
by XBEHERE ingalatians 6:10- really, then, as long as we have time favorable for it, let us work what is good toward all, but especially toward those related to [us] in the faith.
i was thinking this weekend with hurricane rita devastating texas and louisiana that the jw's really do take care of their own when disasters strike.
however if you clearly read that scripture in galatians it says "work what is good towards all" then it says "espcially those related to us in the faith".

There are certainly individual witnesses that will not hesitate to help out a "worldly" person. Case in point, my parents, my dad is even an elder, have always been there to help out our worldly neighbours in times of crisis. BUT, having said that, the validity of the original post still stands, as an "organization", the first priority of the WTS is to help out their own rather than indiscriminantly help ALL people, regardless of religious affilitation.

Are the chances of getting DF'd a second time greater than the first?
by JH in.
i don't know if there are any statistics about this, but i wonder if the percentage of those getting disfellowshipped a second time greater than those getting disfellowshipped the first time.. example: if 20% of jw's get disfellowhipped once, out of those who come back and are re instated, will the chances of being once more disfellowshipped be greater than 20%.

From my observations, definitely yes. They seem to operate in their own little legal system. At your "trial", the prosecution is ALWAYS allowed to present evidence from your prior 'convictions', regardless if you have long ago repented and been "exonerated".
