  So is needproof, apparently.

  I support her 100% in her path. I advise her when she asks for it and when I do, I don't just try to make her feel good, but tell her truth, even when it may be painful at times.

  I respect her opinion even when I don't agree, perhaps even moreso when I don't.

  I give her "the look" often. Not necessarily the one that says "meet me in the bedroom", but the one that says she is the most amazing, beautiful woman alive to me.

  She knows that while I can survive well on my own, her presense makes everything much more sweet, much more alive. I tell her this and I show her this.

  And I show her probably most effectively simply by really, really seeing her, by noticing the very small things about her along with the big things, and loving them.

  i can't read every post about how all you x jw's went to the memorial.

  and i don't know how many here still think they are christians?

  but i interested to know if anyone did the christian thing and followed the commandment of jesus.

  I didn't go to Memorial. Haven't been to one in many years. If I did, I would. By the implications of what they mean, I qualify to partake, even in my most atheistic moods, but so do we all.

  This is one of the greatest battles you will ever fight, but you must, for your own integrity, to yourself, and if you believe in God, to Him. Nothing Real is gained without sacrifice.

  If you do not fight, then you will be less than what you truly are within your heart of hearts. And that is a bright and shining star in the vast darkness. Do not let your light dim.

  But if and when you do fight, acknowledge that it may be devastating for some time.

  Does God mind being called the wrong name?

  since it is a well known fact that god's name is definitely not jehovah, but this was a name only in 'operation' for the last few hundred years thanks to a catholic monk, doesn't the very jealous, bad tempered god of the ot mind being called, in effect, 'fred' when his real name is 'george'.. i would think that call anyone by a knowingly incorrect name is rude, rude, rude, so how does this bad tempered, psycopathic, mass murdering god of the ot feel about this transgression on the part of the wtbts/jehovah's witnesses!!????.

  The question presumes certain human characteristics such a being would not, could not, be influenced by.

  Just like with all things, names are placeholders for things, events, ideas, etc. When studied closely enough, one may discover that the relationship between a name and the item which we apply it to only retains any meaning within our own little minds.

  Now, in a certain sense this can be quite powerful. However, it is a subjective power.

  Any name any entity has, again, is merely symbolic of the actuality, or perhaps a perceived aspect of it. There can ultimately be no "wrong" name for "God" any more than there can be a "right" one.

  I'll give you an example. When I call my father "dad", that symbolizes only what he is to me. When my sister calls my father "dad", she has a slightly different mapping for it. He is what he is to her, and is what he is to me, and those aren't necessarily exactly the same, though closer than, say, some unrelated person's "dad". So when I say "dad", the image and everything associated with it are different than when my sister calls that very same name, applying it to the very same person.

  In effect, we are all, of necessity, idolators if only in our own minds, regarding absolutely anything and everything.

  Does "God" mind? I'm sure "It" doesn't and couldn't possibly spend one iota of any measure of time we could possibly imagine concerned with this or any other little concern any one of us may have, ever.

  proceed from the assumption that there was a Being separate from me, with whom I could have a real conversation.

  I am of the opinion that all such conversations are with ones' self. I'd tend to pay more attention to the soft voice from within than the loud banging at the door.

  My experience is that the ones at the door (figuratively as well as otherwise) usually come carrying a bag of snake oil, no matter how impressive they may seem, or whom they claim to be.

  LOL in return! I'd never heard that expression. Is that how you'd "entertain" God?

  The point is that it couldn't possibly be God any more than the Buddha on the road would be "the" Buddha. He most likely is trying to sell you something.

  daystar, are you sure you haven't already bought the goods? (Nothing personal, just an inquiry )

  LOL! My point was that for a "God" I could possibly conceive of, the scenario is impossible. There is a Buddhist saying that says it nicely, "If you meet the Buddha on the road, kill him."

  The question posed is so irrational to me that I would have to assume that such an entity, even with all the bells and whistles, bright light, booming voice, I'd have to assume much, much less than "God". So my response would be "I'm not interested in what you're selling" and I'd shut the door.

  "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."

  There is no Wizard of Oz, just a little man behind a curtain.
