I'm not the converting type either. I don't subscribe to any particular religious philosophy as I see practicalities and impracticalities in all I've looked into.

I suppose one might say I converted to the religion of Daystar.

beginning regarding the Watchtower Society?
Do you think it was "Judge" Rutherford that corrupted
the organization?
What is you overall viewpoint on the matter?

Irrelevant. Regardless of motive or intent of the person or persons involved early on, this is still a repressive, misguided, corrupt organization as it stands today. What is the purpose of trying to untangle Russell's innocence or guilt in this matter. He's patently guilty of a whole host of wacky theories, but whether he had good intentions or not matters very little. You have heard what the path to "hell" is paved with, haven't you?

Pedophile Proof

i know that years ago (i don't actually recall just how many right now) that barb anderson discovered the more than 23,000 cases in the files at bethel and subsequently bravely brought this to the public's attention.. does anyone have any knowledge of how many approximate cases have been reported to the wts headquarters since that original number, or what year that was?.

we see this "23,000" number mentioned down til this day and common sense tells me that there are far more of these instances of child molestation and acts of pedophilia than as first thought back then.

the wts is so gung-ho on having "accurate lnowledge" on things....so in keeping with this idea, what would be a more "accurate" tally of these numbers for conversation today?.

Unless a bethelite reveals the number, of the wts are forced to open up the database, I can't see how we can find out the current total.

I suspect that they would have created alternate methods for accounting for these so that a papertrail would be nonexistent.

The Loved Up Thread [Fluff]

it might have escaped your notice but sirona and i are totally in love and seem to have a mutual appreciation society thing going on; however this has not taken place without causing some online problems as some of you might be aware.. both dawn (sirona) and i are conscious that we have hijacked a number of threads given our perpetual state of being loved up.

given the untold frustration we might have caused to some posters we have decided to launch our very own jwd loved up thread.. this hopefully should allow threads to go on being productive without the frustration of people (us) whispering online sweet nothings and flirting and we therefore invite you all to use this thread if you are loved up, have similar mutual appreciation societies or simply wish to flirt with other online posters.

you can even use this thread to dedicate a post to someone who isnt online and who just lightens your life and makes you smile.. please join us and reassure us that we are not the only loved up people on jwd.. .

satan threw open a challenge to jehovah (according to jw theology) that he could turn anyone against god and that peeps only served him by what they could get out of it ( living forever on a paradise earth........um) .

well, since yourve got to be a dedicated witness, everyone else is wrong, wicked, corrupt whatever.

who could claim victory for this................... 6 million out of satans 6 billion.. so, id say satan is the winner.

Daystar, OK, I agree with that statement. But isn't that what the Jehovah's Witnesses teach about God? And doesn't the Bible give God human characteristics (i.e. God is a jealous God; God is love)? Well I think that would be one of the main points in what is wrong with the teachings in the first place. So what is the "point" that God is trying to prove (and by "God" I mean the Witness God) by not intervening for 6000 years or whatever it is... I'm rusty on my timing....?

Yeah, that's what the JWs teach and that is much of what I take from the Bible. And I believe them both to be quite patently wrong (from my perspective) on the nature of their own God based upon the sort of being he is, ultimately, supposed to be. I mean, for a being that has no beginning or end, etc., he sure is a petty bastard the way the JWs and the Bible make him out to be.

Hell, the way I see it, Jesus comes across as a much, much more enlightened fellow than his Father from the OT. And some people believe them to be the same person. I don't really get that unless he's got Dissociative Identity Disorder. (I know, there are Christian rationalities for this. I just don't buy them.)

I think the point is, my point anyway... that it's a story, just a story, a morality play, if you will. It's not to be taken literally. There is no real being as Satan, or God, as presented in the Bible. There was no "argument" by these two beings as to our right to sovereignty. It's a fairy tale. And unfortunately, it's used all to often to subjugate the masses.

My point, new boy, is that in my experience one should be very, very wary when someone proclaims to possess such a secret. And especially so if they ask for money in return. So, you're not going to share with us what this "secret" is? ;P

P.S. Daystar, I didn't mean that God needs us, but that he wanted to prove that we need him.

I got that, but why would he need (want) anything at all, including to prove that we need him? It puts a rather human face on a being that is supposedly ultimately beyond human comprehension, anthropmorphization of a (the?) force of the universe to take on human characteristics like desires, wants, needs, jealousies...

So, id say satan is the winner. Now Jehovah knows ( knew) this and so instead of shaking hands and saying "yep, you were right" he decides to kill everyone !!!!!!!

The point I'd like to see made is that the WTS' "Jehovah" is not God. It is a facsimile created by the WBTS with help from their translation of the bible, a questionable source at best.
