I meant I might be tempted to contact *a* psychic for help. Not Sylvia or John Edwards. Just wanted to clarify.

Edwards & Brown... what do you think???
by Tashawaa inhas anyone seen/watch "crossing over" (john edwards) or seen sylvia brown?
i do believe there are scam artists out there, and i'm not prone to believing in psychics, but these two are very convincing.. i don't believe its demons, because quite frankly i think they have better things to do then get to know someone's life so well they can "mimic" them after death .
part of me is very attracted to "their message" - even the animals "cross over"... but the skeptic in me .

Montel asked Sylivia before the last presidential election who would win. She answered without hesitation...Gore. She had a 50/50 shot and blew it.
Probably all a fraud but I wonder if I would employ one if one of my children went missing and the police couldn't find them. I'd probably give it a shot.

Prayer? Why Bother?
by ChakkaConned indid it seem that jw's truly valued and promoted the avenue of prayer as a real force in one's life?
when you *sinned*, it was like you needn't bother jehovah with your pathetic self through prayer and a one on one with the almighty and receive peace and complete forgiveness via this precious privilege god provides.
oh no....you should talk with the elders and let them handle your pathetic, sinful self and leave jehovah and jesus out of it.

Did it seem that JW's truly valued and promoted the avenue of prayer as a REAL force in one's life? Not to me. WHO areYOU to think that that YOU can approach God privately and get off easy from your sin?? Sure, they pay lip service to the subject of prayer but they don't have faith that Jehovah alone can/will actually handle anything in a person's life nor do they think a person deserves this. Instead of Jesus as the mediator, they feel they are.
What a fleshly, faithless, non spiritual group.

What Was The 1st Thing That Made You Question?
by minimus inas a youngster raised in the "truth", i had my questions.
but anytime you ask a question that is unanswerable, you are told to just wait on jehovah.
as time passes, i believe that we store up a number of unanswerable questions that forces one to eventually think about everything.

I started having panic attacks out of the clear blue. Here I was, I felt, doing everything conceivable to live a good, clean life, serving God *whole souled*, and I start slipping psycologically. I began to seriously look within and question why would this start happening now? And for the first time, I asked my unbelieving mate to take a look at my life and give me his honest opinion about my religion. He did and thus began the brain thaw.
I began to take note of how things really were at the hall. Several, once sane individuals, were having major mental problems, all of the backstabbing and lack of love and true friendships, the harsh elders, etc. Much of what came out of the mouths of JW's was venomous and judgemental and I saw that so many were just plain miserable, including myself. Years earlier, my oldest childs teacher called and wanted to talk to me about a problem with my child. I remember walking up to the school and seeing her class outside at recess. The kids were all playing and laughing as kids do. But, I noticed that my daughter was off to herself, all alone, sitting on the jungle gym.....away from "the world" as I had taught her. It broke my heart. This just can't be right, I thought and I continued to ponder and observe.
I picked up on the constant referencing and group worship of "the organization" and it just didn't sit right. The constant belittling and guilt tripping from headquarters thru the mags and talks. Here a mere handfull of people come into this asphixiating religion, trying to serve God in an acceptable way and with good motive and this is the way the sheep should be treated by the F&D slave/God? I could not see how God was supporting such a horrible religion and I could no longer recommend it publicly to anyone. The whole fruitage thing just seemed too rotten.
My doubts all started from emotional pain but when I got on the internet and discovered the myriads of doctrinal screw ups, it all came together and I was outta there.

watchtower: Pimping you out to the world!
by CornerStone injust venting before i go to work.
i was thinking how watchtower has to be one of the biggest pimps of peoples minds and bodies in the world.
#1 they have their people go out and "perform" or "do tricks" with peoples minds and emotions.. #2 they have their people go out and bring in the "masters belongings", warm bodies, their money and a lifetimes servitude, with watchtower the "master"!

LOL This is a fine use of fitting illustrations brother. I'll mark you G and you can proceed to the next point.
Yea, we were their ho's and had to be bitch slapped often for not turning enough tricks(bible studies). I got tired of the bruises tho and got out of the biz but my pimps are still looking for me, I hear.

HI Laura,
Why do you think you will get disfellowshipped? Did someone from the hall see you? Or worse, are you thinking of fessing up? Give us more detail. Were you wearing thongs?? LOL If you talk to the elders, they may ask that.
Seriously, we all make mistakes. Don't beat youself up. And don't confess anything to the KH police. This is between you and God.

Hey, this sounds like a great opportunity! I was thinking of purchasing a college diploma but this sounds alot cheaper. Do we get a clergy license plate too? I'm tired of having to walk so far when I visit someone in the hospital. I need alittle prestige in my life. This oughta do it :)

Hi Freedom,
This is one subject that really chaps my ass. There were very few *gatherings*(they don't even like the word*party*, do they? Too worldly)in the congregations I attended. By the time I left, they were getting even fewer and far between. Real friendship did not exist and people had to see each other at the meetings so much, they didn't want to look at their faces on their time off, I suppose.
I remember one day, on my way to work, stopping at a redlight and watching a bunch of kids and their mom's loading into a church bus in the church parking lot. They were laughing and talking as they were, no doubt, going to go do some fun CHURCH sponsored activity. It really struck me that day how little the organization gives back to their flunkies.....er, sheep, especially the poor children. They demand so much, yet give back nothing. Nada, zip. And as you brought out, for a religion who demands it's people to associate only with other JW's, they don't lift a finger to help them do this with all of their $$$. What a dull ass selfish religion. As usual, they put it all on the pubs alone to use their own resources while they just make the rules. Too, we have to remember that they will always minimize recreation lest your valuable time not be spent in the all important preaching of the good news and the meetings. And would it kill them to have built into the KH's a fellowship hall where people could socialize and drink alittle coffee after the meetings? Um, yea, I guess it would. That would mean that they actually cared about the humanity of people. Don't want to be ANYTHING like the other whoreish churches.
And last but not least, I know what you mean about the bad association thing and how they would build paranoia among the members by encouraging them to be careful of bad association, *not just out in the world but IN the congregation*. What crap!! That just gave license to freely judge your brother's and write them off if you wanted to. Such unity and love....not.
Sorry about the rant. I told you this chapped my ass. LOL Thanks for the post.
