up until 5 years ago, the co used to work up their own parts for specfic congregations in their circuits.
everything is up to script, in other words, every co in the country are givings the same talks in the local congregations they visit.
what got me to cringe is when he said at the meeting, trying to encourage everyone to pioneer this august; he said :" you know this october it will be 100 years since gods kingdom began ruling, remember what happen when joshua told the israelites to march around jericho on the seventh day, and what happened when they let out a great war cry?
The watchtower has become the furniture store that is going out of business for the 100 time.
I hate stores with the never-ending closing down sale. Yet the average JW keeps falling for it year after year. The WTS has provided that script because they know it will be a good source of motivation for this year, and the "sheep" will force it out of their memories by next year.
anyone else get the distinct impression that jws are being worked up into a frenzy with all the changes and activity nowadays?
by the end of august, there will have been four campaigns inside of a year.
one last november, a memorial campaign, a convention campaign and an advertise jw.org campaign.. then there's the conventions with all the hooplah around that with all the video, and the aggrandizement of synchronized gb talks.
I remember being in a frenzy in the 80s and 90s because of the generation doctrine. Now that is gone and 100 years have past there is not much left to motivate them. They can only use the 100 year anniversary of 1914 for a year or two. There is only so much that hours, magazine sizes and meetings can be reduced by. The GB can frenzy all they like in the short term, but longevity for the religion will require significant doctrinal changes. The 144,000 will be one of the first to come IMO.
as i have mentioned here for many years there are some things i totally disagree with the wt society on but one thing i do believe they have right is that the earth is going to last forever.
one thing that has always amazed me with born agains that teach the earth is going to burn up is the scripture where jesus says "the meek will inherit the earth".
this is clear and plain and why would jesus outright "lie" about the earth if he knew it was going to burn up?
Why does it make Jesus a false prophet? Where did he ever say that the earth would remain forever?

Since the JWs have the inhumane stance, they should be the ones that miss out on the reception, but it depends how important they are to your daughter. Maybe you could arrange a separate room for their food. Or tell them since the cousin will be there and that feel uncomfortable can attend after the food has finished.

To be practical, if you invite the cousin and JWs you need to let the JWs know. It would be better for them to decline the reception, than walk out and leave a huge and unnecessary catering bill.
the article addressed luke 20:34-36 and now they finally admit jesus could have been referring to the heavenly resurrection.
they said "put simply, the answer is that we cannot say" which is surprising because they have something to say about everything.
perhaps all the old people who are waiting the new world as widow and widowers want to know if they have a chance to be reunited with their dead loved one.
The confusion is very JW centric, because of their belief in an earthly resurrection. The Bible never mentions an earthly resurrection, but the Watchtower tries to apply this Scripture to its earthly resurrection doctrine, when there is little doubt that it is referring to those in heaven. They have still left it up in the air, due to Jesus' reference to Abraham, and the Watchtower belief that Abraham will be resurrected onto earth.
chronic fatigue syndrome refers to severe, continued tiredness that is not relieved by rest and is not directly caused by other medical conditions.. did you have many congregation members, particularly pioneers, that said they had " chronic fatigue syndrome" ?.
that's their "get-out-of-jail-free card.
" they were free to cancel anything at anytime and it was their legitimate reason for not doing anything that didn't involve field recruiting.
Many JW's that I knew. Jack Porter had it for a number of years, though I think he was fine by the time he was appointed to the Australia branch committee. There was another sister in the same congregation of Bradbury that also had it. My cousin-in-law claims to have it. He diagnosed it shortly after joining the religion, almost 20 years ago, and still claims to have it.
CFS seemed to replace Candida as the JW disease, which was popular amongst JWs in the 70's and 80's. Depression seems to be taking over from CFS now.
I was never sure with most as to whether it was made up as an excuse, or if it was real with them and exacerbated by the religion.

Oubliette - wow, I am surprised to learn you used to post on Wikipedia whilst an elder. Interesting observation about being woken up moreso by the apologists. I used to post once I left, but found having comments repeatedly removed, and whitewashed, by JWs got to me and I decided to stop.
