I like that image of JWs surrounded by cartoon characters. Appropriate. I bet the kids wish they were going to that convention instead.

Watchtower circulation jumps up!
by factfinder inthe jan. 1, 2015 w shows an updated printing of 52,946,000 copies each issue in 228 languages.. this is an increase of 7,002,000 copies per issue over last year, this is the biggest increase i have seen in the printing of the w per issue for any one year.
thus, including the study edition over 70 million copies of the w are now being printed each month.. .
i wonder if awake!

With just a monthly public Watchtower and monthly Awake, it now covers a distribution time that two editions of the Watchtower and Awakes used to, so it would make sense that it is far higher than the past. Add to that it is now being left in the streets on trolleys for free pick up. I couldn't find any print numbers on the study edition? That must have dropped off dramatically since it became an internal only magazine, and even more so now JWs are encouraged to download it instead.

The article led to 3AW doing an interview with me to discuss the topics of shunning and that Jehovah's witnesses believe they alone have the truth and everyone eise will soon die at Atmageddon.

Doctors and surgeons say no to blood transfusions
by Mr Negative inmy mum recently told me that even surgeons won't have blood transfusions, but the common people don't get told this.
i have also seen or heard others say that a bunch of doctors/health officials/surgeons were asked, at some point, if they would accept a blood transfusion and they all said no.
is this true?
-

It is garbage, ask her for the proof.
Those sort of comments show total ignorance of the matter. The story probably arose because some doctors answered some poll saying there are a lot of risks with blood, and they will avoid it where possible. However, most if not all would have blood if there was no other viable alternative. That too is that stance I take. I believe the Watchtower stance to be unchristian, and fully support blood transfusions, however, I too would not have a transfusion if at all possible and whenever there is an equally effective and available alternative.

Does money buy happiness and a longer life? You decide...
by Brock Talon ini poured over time magazine's sep 8-15 2014 edition article "who we are" and put together this spreadsheet on the results from their poll.
i found the statistics quite fascinating.. most people would say that "money doesn't buy happiness", but this poll seems to me to indicate the exact opposite of that.
it also correlates education levels with higher earning that result in that happiness.

The results are very interesting, particularly how straight forward the increase of income and education is to happiness and longevity.
Most people would say that "Money doesn't buy happiness", but this poll seems to me to indicate the exact opposite of that.
Virtually all studies I have read show that money brings happiness, particularly as people climb from below to above poverty levels.

SPANISH KINGDOM HALLS BEING SOLD-OFF?
by The Searcher inaccording to the letter (link below) out of 705 kingdom halls in spain, 295 are being disposed of.. if someone can translate german/spanish, it would throw some light on the specifics.. http://www.bruderinfo-aktuell.de/index.php/brief-zum-koenigreichssaalbauprogramm-in-spanien/#more-948.

295 will be "abandoned", they will build 214 New KH's
It is a money making scheme. Build new halls with the donations of the followers, along with their free labour, to build equity for the Watchtower.

ptt7000 - All nations know about Christ if not every person.
Absolutely not. Billions have never heard of Christ. Asia has barely been touched in many countries. And the teachings of Islam about Christ present him in a very different light to the Bible.

FuGK This Religion- Stop Ruining My Life!!!
by wallievase ini am sorry for the title but today just took the cake.
after not going to the meetings since august and trying to sort through this with my family, my wife today told me she wants to separate because of our differences over being a witness or not.. this is ridiculous.
so i said- how can you separate from me when the religion you whole heartedly believe says you can only separate for 3 reasons- abuse, willful non-support, or stopping her from her meeting attendance, etc.

You make an interesting point. There are a lot of talks where a wife has an unbelieving husband, and how she must stay and win him over without a word. But it is quite different when the husband was a JW and leaves. He is now a dangerous apostate that could affect her spirituality, and very often the spouse will feel leaving is the correct option, as encouraged by elders. I hope you are able to work it out with your wife.

There is the official answer, and then the vaguaries the Watchtower leaves open, so that it can still attract new people and not offend JWs that are not totally heartless.
Salvation only for Jehovah's Witnesses shows numerous quotes that only active, baptised JWs will be saved (and their minor children). This is reinforced by concepts such as you needed to be on the ark to be saved in the flood. Not everyone on earth was contacted by Noah, but they all drowned nonetheless.
But the Watchtower opens it up by saying things like, "It is up to God to judge." It makes it seem God may allow some others to be saved, and some JWs take it that way to appease their own consciences, but that does not mean what it seems, as the doctrine is God will not save someone that is not a baptised active JW. So it is a dishonest misdirection.
The dishonesty can be seen in the following quote. It actually says that it is not only Jws that will be saved, but goes on to show that it is only Jws that will be saved.
" Do You Feel That You Are the Only People Who Will Be Saved?
No. Many millions who lived in centuries past and who weren’t Jehovah’s Witnesses will have an opportunity for salvation. The Bible explains that in God’s promised new world, “there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.” (Acts 24:15) Additionally, many now living may yet begin to serve God, and they too will gain salvation. In any case, it’s not our job to judge who will or won’t be saved. That assignment rests squarely in Jesus’ hands."
