New K.Hall Design, Mansfield
by BluesBrother innot mansfield u k , but mansfield in u s a - it doesn't look much, does it?
in fact even the uber dubs on j w talk are not impressed (that must be a first!
this thread of theirs is publicly readable:.

It is a great design, as it could be used for anything. They can build them with free labour and donations, and flick them off a few years later at a handsome profit for industrial usage. -

Amazing Growth! Jehovah Is Blessing The Preaching Work!
by Divergent intoday's text:.
saturday, april 2. the little one will become a thousand.—isa.
60:22.. perhaps we live in an area where there are few witnesses or where we do not see a lot of immediate results in our preaching work.

Funny they still speak about growth when these days it is no where near as impressive as the past. Even the figure they show about Zambia is nothing special. " This means that 1 in every 18 persons in Zambia attended." There are also 1:18 Seventh Day Adventists in Zambia, and 1:5 Catholics. When I first read 1:18, it seems amazing compared to the 1:330 in Australia, but really it is just a figure that many other religions can claim as well. -

300 books and magazines placed outside The Shard
by pleaseresearch inhi all.. so i got a txt today from a very proud mum claiming that, the jw cart produced 300 book and magazine placements.
mostly from foreign speakers.. the shard is the tallest building in the uk.
this is where the cart was placed.. not a bad day they had really.

In their heyday they distributed tens of millions of pieces of literature a year, and only had a couple of hundred thousand baptisms, half of which are probably children born into the religion. 300 magazines is unlikely to have any result.
I actually think that the carts will result in net negative growth. Few will join the religion from seeing a cart, but the JWs there become sitting ducks for people to approach them with well thought out information about the religion to make them think.

Commercial activism.
by Ben131895 inin his last couple of vlogs, john cedars is wearing a t-shirt saying shunned.
some people liked it and asked him if they could purchase one.. in his last vlog (#111) he is advertising it and mentioned the link www.apostee.com, based in the us.
comments attached to vlog # 110 mentioned the fact that this company will close in april and that the business will be continued by cedars itself, who has also a stock of anti-witness items.. besides that, he was not the owner of jwsurvey.org, but since january 16, 2016 he is.. it looks (as mentioned before by simon in an earlier thread), this guy is making a living from his activism, a paid career.. one should seriously question his true motives, demonstrated in his activism.

When a person devotes their time to a cause there is no reason they should not be paid for that time. Cedars spends as much time on his site as most people spend earning a living, so why should people expect it to be free?
Randy devoted his life to freeminds, and it was only through donations that he has been able to survive. Fortunately for him, Christian Church groups sponsored him, as exJWs show very little generosity in such regards.

My Personal Invitation to the Celebration of the Lord's Evening Meal
by TMS inby no means is this a heartwarming "experience" illustrating how an ex-jw skillfully "reached the heart" of a current jw, moving them to re-examine their belief system.
that won't be my take on my half hour visit with an elder's wife last sunday.
no one scored points here as is almost always the case in these interactions.. we live at the extreme southern tip of texas, on the u.s.-mexico border in a city of about 200,000. twenty years ago there were 20 spanish language congregations, 2 english.

Great post that I wish everyone could read and appreciate. After years of preaching, how many of us ever convinced anyone that their Christian beliefs are wrong, so why think that it is going to be likely that a conversation with a JW will have them agreeing that you are right and they should leave the organisation. It still comes as a surprise that she was so unaffected as to still press for you to come to the memorial after all that.
Still, this conversation may plant a seed that at some later point has an affect.

The Evolution of the Awake's Back Cover
by ILoveTTATT2 ini don't think anyone's actually considered this, but a post in the extj.com forum made me think about the many changes (not just one) on the back cover of the awake!
magazine.
thanks to avoidjw.org for scanning all of the magazines in pdf format, since there is a lot lost with the wt library.. take a look at the following paragraphs in the awake´s back cover throughout the years:awake!

There is this one too from 1995 immediately preceding the change. The only difference from the one before is the word "important" instead of "importantly". I wonder how many committees were required to make that change.

Lost on how to respond...
by babygirl30 inso an old friend of mine from the congregation hit me up today.
the story goes like this when we were jw's:.
- this guy used to be madly in love with me but i didn't see him as anything more than a friend.

Nice response. Much better than what I was going to recommend, which was:
"Don't tell me you still believe in that bullshit. I'll be here for support if you ever wake up."

Be Generous Toward Jehovah
The indoctrination starts so young. It is not Jehovah, it is a corporation they are giving their money to. No wonder JW adults cannot distinguish the difference between leaving the religion and leaving Jehovah.

Hilarious Whatsapp message received - FIRST day after Big D
by cognitivedizzy ina hilarious stupid wa message is being circulated amongst jws in my area / country.. i had a hearty laugh at the ignorance and stupidity and brainwashed mentality, different people may express different emotions so you have been warned.
day one after armageddon it seems ages since we last heard the gunshots and screams, today has been really quiet.
the last few weeks have been sheer terror.

Very Sick!
My sentiment exactly.
It seems ages since we last heard the gunshots and screams, today has been really quiet.
I used to think about having a Lamborghini Countach after Armageddon, but blocked out the thoughts of death and screams leading up to it.

Words omitted from a Watchtower article
by Doug Mason ina short time ago i sought information regarding a quotation in the watchtower of april 1, 2010, which did not identify the exact source of the quotation from professor oskar skarsaune.
my interest was heightened because words had been omitted from the source.. the wts provided a copy of the original 29-page article, which is in norwegian.. here is my very unofficial personal translation of the passage from professor skarsaune's article that the watchtower is quoting.
firstly i provide the text as it appears in the watchtower magazine, highlighting where the text has been omitted.

The WTS wishes to make it appear that the decisions regarding the Canon were made by their (mythical) first-century Governing Body,
Exactly my point, but put more succinctly.
The term governing body and its concept does not appear in the New Testament, yet has become the fundamental basis for explaining how first century Christians operated and the devotion of JWs to the religion now. With the latest changes in doctrine, it seems supporting the GB concept is the key motivation of the change.
