here it is april 16, 2002. i have not been out in service for, oh, about 2-3 years now?
my wife is the die-hard jw who always reaches her quota, if not a little more.
we have been in a new congregation for about a year now, and we have yet to receive a "shepherding visit" from the local elders.
Congregations, like individuals, have varying personalities. Despite what many may think there are congregations of witnesses and many individuals that don't reflect the steriotype reflected on most opposition sites.
On the other hand there are congregations from hell.

One or the other must be true. How do you choose between two impossiblities? In my case what I see reflects intelligent design and intent. Eye of the beholder I suppose.

Francois said "Creationists have NOTHING BUT miracles." Come on Francois, that goes both ways. I have yet to have the origen of the universe explained in a purely scientific manner, (other than matter originating from some "strange vibration".) Observed phenomina with no explination = miracle. The assumption is that there is some as yet unknown scientific explination without a creator, but that is because the creator possibility isn't even considered by avid evolutionists.
Either way it's a miracle IMHO.

That's one prophecy that just might be fulfilled in the next decade or so. The "war on terrorizm" is a war against Islam. Once the ball starts rolling, it might not stop. Sounds far fetched I know; but not as far fetched as it sounded a couple of years ago.

most people of the western world believe that the freedom to speak and express your opinion is a fundemental "right" of humans.. but how far can free speech go?.
what if i owned a cigarette firm, and i wanted to say on the packet, "somking is very benifical for you".
am i using my right to free speech, or am i misleading other people?.
I agree with Ranchette. They should be held accountable for their actions. There are many subjective areas where claims made by religions (they "talk with God" etc.) where the courts should stay away. People need to use their common sense.

my soon to be mother-in-law, asked me a question that i can't find an answer to.
we were talking about my life as a jehovah's witness, and how i don't hate my late father for raising me as one.
more importantly how i don't blame him but rather blame the religion for my aweful childhood.. her question is, "was there anything i enjoyed about being a jehovah's witness?
Skipping out of the convention sessions with a couple of other bad associations looking for sister type bad associations.

i cam across an article i'd like to share, or draw your attention to.. one interesting part of this is that it concerns the definition of spirituality.
according to this definition, the wts and jws are about as anti-spiritual as appears possible.. "a spiritual being is comfortable with the idea of having teachers, observers, and divine guidance available at any time.
I think the last paragraph sums it up.

my reason for not wanting book material to be run on certain web sites is purely because of finding their approach out of harmony with my own principles and standards, so many are engaged in watch tower trashing and extremely negative.
some sites present material that promotes agnosticism and distrust of the scriptures, even atheism (one such site being in scandanavia).
How credible do you think Ray's expose' would have been by bashing the WTS? Yes, he exposed the hypocracy and falsehood in the Org., but it was done with respect and dignity. Now you think he should drop his Christian ideals and bash away? Like it or not, Ray is a Christian, and true Christians try to follow the example of Christ, who said to love your enemies. It's damn near impossible for me personally to hold my tonque about the Borg, but that's my weakness. I certainly don't expect Ray to change his ideals to suit my fancy. An athiest or non-christian doesn't follow the same ideals, therefore they react differently. This isn't meant to "bash" non-christians or athiests, it's just that their goals are different. For example Kent has done a tremendous job of providing detailed information about the WTS. It's just that he has different ideals than Ray.
