  Time for a chat?

  every year about around christmas i get a knock on my door from jehovah?s witnesses.

  this is not something i discourage or dislike.

  i believe encouraging debate on important issues is almost frowned on in western culture, and i genuinely enjoy the chance to discuss and learn.

  I've yet to find a JW who will actually debate with you. If things aren't going their way after a very few minuets they disappear. Now if you want to debate atheism vs belief in God your resourses are endless. You might want to try the talk.origens discussion group. If you're seeking debate with a JW slant, there are a great number of ex-JW's who have a strong belief in God and would enjoy a good debate with you. Want to go a round or two with me?   Which would you choose: Being born or the WTS never having existed?

  those of us who are multi-generation "born into the wts" people, exist only because the wts exists.

  my grand parents were all jws, both of my parents were born and raised in the religion and i was born and raised in the religion.

  the simple fact of the matter is that if it was not for the wts existing neither of my parents would exist and therefore neither would i. sure brings and interesting new twist on the time travel "go back in time and kill your father before you were conceived" paradox.

  I don't think our parents having sex and procreating had anything to do with the WTS.

  Ever heard of the butterfly effect? If that one particular ovum hadn't met up with that one particular sperm your parents offspring wouldn't have been you. Anything that would have affected the timing of that one in a million matchup would have resulted in someone else.

  Seen the movie "The Butterfly Effect"? Great flick!!

  What are your thoughts on the composite sign?

  lately i've been giving a lot of thought on my decision to leave the wts behind and during the course of my musing i contemplated the meaning of the composite sign.

  and then it kind of struck me that perhaps this composite sign was really just a declaration of the obvious.

  for example some of the elements of the composite sign are: famine, pestilence, reports of natural disasters (earthquakes, etc..).

  The 144,000 and everyone else will exist here on earth in human bodies that are resurrected or changed at this time into immortal ones like the one Christ had when He left.

  Joseph, that's sure gonna be a lot of people on this planet, no? What about the myriad of other "worlds" in the universe? Why couldn't some of the changed and resurrected exist on some of those worlds? Jesus said in my fathers house there are many mansions.

  As for the composite sign there are differences in the world situation today as opposed to past historical calamities. This is due to the huge increase in population as well as technological advances. Humans now have the ability, own their own, to destroy the world. The spread of civilization into previously untouched areas like the rain forest have awoken many deadly and contagious pathogens that are being diseminated world wide via the ease and speed of travel. If you include these things with the possibility of catostrophic collisions with asteroids and comets (we're "due" for a major hit give or take a few thousand years), the eruption of "super volcanoes", (we're also due + or - a few thousand years) then the likelyhood of extection size events are greater now than at any time in history.

  I'm not implying that we all should be preaching and screaming doom and gloom, but it can't hurt to keep our eyes, ears and mind open.

  their faces show they have some major emotional investment in this trial.

  the man even appears to be praying.

  Somebody- Please Help Me UNDERSTAND?

  i understand there is a ton of anger out there toward the wts and dub's, and rightly so... what i don't understand is this notion that there is an evil conspiracy on the part of the wts and dubs as individuals to subjugate and control the unwary (or however you want to label us) for some evil sinister purpose.

  i know what they are doing and agree it's wrong but to what purpose- i mean you can look at televangelist and see what's up with them (follow the money).

  but what's up with the dub's.
