I forgot about their being no "0" year which would have made him 33 1/2 in 33. Of course this would be based on the 2 BC birthdate. Seems most scholors put it between 4 and 7 BC however. I guess they prefer the 2 BC date so it would coincide with their chronology.

i was watching independence day last week, and i got to thinking "what would happen if a ufo (or several for that matter), did land on earth?
what effect would this event have on religions that teach that god has only created life on planet earth?

There are interesting parallels in the Genesis story of the sons of God coming down from heaven, taking the daughters of men and producing offspring and todays alien abductions stories. Most "abductees" claim that their experience included extraction of sperm and eggs in an effort to produce hybrid offspring. So, they are either sex crazed demons repeating what went on in the Genisis account or the ones depicted in Genisis were really aliens trying to produce hybrid offspring; perhaps to save their dying race?

Speculation, nothing else. I've followed the Islamic vs non-Islamic conflicts closely for the past several years and that's just the conclusion I've come to. A large proportion of the Muslim world is hell bent on killing all of the imbecils (us) and don't give a rats ass if they die doing it. The only future they care about is lying around in heaven with the 17 virgin reward they get for their jihad. These are people that salivate at the thought of aquiring a WMD and dropping it at the doorstep of their imbecil enemies. Problem is that WMD are indeed available to anyone with enough money. Well, these people have lots of money and they're acumilating more every day. They have the will and desire. They have the people. They're aquiring the money every day. The "imbecil enemies" know these things and aren't about to sit around and just let it happen. That's why there's several hundred thousand "coalition" troops over there as we speak. Yea, it's just a major skirmish in Iraq and Afghanistan, (not to meantion Israel and Palistine). I don't see either side even thinking about throwing in the towel. What do you folks think; will things cool down in the near future or will it get worse?

A family of four was found in their NJ home with their throats cut. The family made up of the man and wife included two young daughters. The family (of Egyptian heritage) were Coptic Christians. The father had been spending time on a Muslim web site/chat room engaged in "strong religious disagreement" with a Muslim participant. One of the last messages he received was a threat to hunt him down and cut his throat if he didn't stop making derogatory remarks about the Muslim religion. The police were told by members of his community that in no uncertain terms they "knew" that the family was indeed executed by Muslim fanatics. I just now heard on the news that there was a fight that broke out at the funeral home between relatives/friends of the family and several other individuals. That's all I caught of the newscast. I didn't hear what the fight was about but one could "assume" that religious differences was the catalyst.
Now folks I certainly don't claim to be a prophet, but based on current events and incidents like this I see an all out war between/among Christians, Muslims and Jews. It'll start out with the fundamentalists and fanatics on both sides then spill over to everyone else. The combatants will be determined by their religion, not the country they live in. I've already heard several members of the US congress openly say that the war on terrorism is indeed a religious war. No one in the US government would have said that 10 years ago. The religious flashpoint has for years been in Israel/Palastine but now Dubya has fanned the flames in Iraq, soon to spill over into Iran and Syria. It's coming, and soon.

Absolutely!! I aspire to be designated congregation overseer. My first official action would be to announce one of those special talks to be given the following Sunday. This talk to be given by the new overseer (me). I would arrive very early and greet everyone at the front entrance. Stepping onto the stage I would give a brief announcement about the latest publication that had just been released - "Crisis of Concience". I would then commence my talk - exposing as many lies, falsehhoods and dirt about the Watchtower Society that I could cram into the hour alotted.
Would they throw me out on my ear or would I be tearfully embraced by the rank and file?

Am I missing something? Why is this sentence suddenly thrown into the article with no reason or explination? Why are the donations being sent to the WTS in the first place? Is this girl a JW? If she is then I'd never know it from reading the article.
Also it was mentioned in a couple of posts that the WTS discouraged donating to charities and encouraged donations to itself. I saw no evidence of this from the article. I just read that they prefered contributions go to the branch office of the country in question, specificly for the worldwide work.

i don't think you can seperate the 2. they are both inseperably joined, infact the wt defines how jws believe.
many here say they don't "hate" jws individually, just the society, ie the wt.. where in your personal opinion is the distinction drawn??

any JW? Believe me, there are JW's who hate apostates with a vengence! Certainly not all of them, but the haters are there.
