Blackboo:
The bible says "the fool has said in his heart God doesnt exist".
Do you know what a "tautology" is?
from a logical point....i notice that in these threads that there are few here who dont believe in god..but i hate to tell you your dead wrong for having such an ignorant belief like that..instead ya,ll are blaming religion, people, and your personal problems for your lack of faith in god..thats dead wrong.
the non-believers are not looking at the whole picture..just the present..the things that go on in the world happen for a reason and it doesnt mean god doesnt exist.
the bible says "the fool has said in his heart god doesnt exist".

a few jws were stunned when i pointed out revelation 13 to them, they said they have never heard such a thing about the mark of teh beast or it's effects.
im beginning to wonder if its even taught in the hall.
The jws believe that this mark is symbolic. That`s how they view all kinds of "marks" spoken of in the Bible. By being a jw, you will sort of have a "mark" too, on your forehead, which will spare you when Armageddon comes (like that mark on the lamp post in the OT-thing). It`s all symbolic in jw-belief, so they don`t worry about these ID-cards or stuff like that.
i've recently begun challenging my beliefs.
all my beliefs, including those ingrained in me as one raised "in the truth".. a few years ago i sought therapy for chronic depression and my treatment was remarkably successful.
as a side effect, things that used to "work" for me no longer fit with the new emotional pathways and strengths i was developing.
Hi, welcome!
Another problem I have is the clear distinction between what the bible actually says, what the FDS write
This is the key! For years (your whole life?) you have been trained to believe that what the Bible says and what the FDS says it says - is the same thing! The jw-terminology is itself constructed in this way, to obscure the difference between the Bible (the book) and the WTS` interpretations of this book! How many times haven`t you used the phrase "the Bible clearly teaches that..." (followed by some jw-doctrine), "the Bible warns us against" (followed by jw-doctrine), etc.
Congratulations. You have understood the most important distinction necessary to break free from your mental hell (I was raised in it too): You now know that the Bible and the WTS` interpretations of the Bible, are not the same thing. Welcome to freedom!
boise - fire crews are investigating an arson fire that destroyed a boise church overnight.
that fire happened at the jehovahs witness church just off of roosevelt and st. andrews just after 2 a.m. .
when crews arrived on scene, they found the building engulfed in flames, and say someone set the fire intentionally.
Witnesses say they saw what appeared to be a couple of teens, dressed in black, running away from the area of the church, just after the fire broke out.
Ah yes, satanist-kids burning churches...a rather recent norwegian invention:

please note that there are several pages and that you should set your pdf reader to full page.. as i said before, i have a red-green color vision deficiency, but this time i have taken the plunge and used color.
please tell me where i need to make corrections with the colors.. as always, i appreciate your suggestions for improvements, corrections and additions.. doug.
So your petty theory is bankrupt and needs a a shakeup which is what scholar will do and he will tear your theory to shreds.

I just love it when he refers to himself in the third person...

Was it the Fall of ASSYRIA in 609 BCE or Neb's reign from 605 BCE? Jonsson continues to grapple with this with no solution thus far.
...or was it simply the beginning of the era that would leave Judah desolate?! If so, the prophecy of the "70 years" is not difficult to understand. Whether it began in (roughly) 609, 607 or 605 doesn`t matter! It ended some time between 537 and 539 (you have still not replied to Jeffros point on 538, of course). In biblical prophetic terms, we are talking about 70 years none the less, whether its 68, 70 or 72. The writers of the Bible liked round figures! You know, 40 years, 400 years, 1000, 12000, 144000, They look good in the Biblical context! The Bible is not a math puzzle! It never was, isn`t and never will be! Fortunately, noone takes you seriously here, Scholar. The newbies might, but the oldtimers have followed the 30-pages long threads in which Jeffro and AlanF has been kicking your but till the lake of fire and back, defeating you on every little detail. Now, even they look to have gotten tired of it. You`re just getting old and booooooring.
check out these two post that were made:.
jw1983 - rolf furuli .
a slightly revised edition of "assyrian, babylonian, egyptian, and persian .
Someone help me out here: what is Furuli saying? How is he in in conflict with Carl O? Does this have anything to do with the 607/587 contoversy? A brief and simple summary would be nice.
Brief summary: Rolf Furuli is a professor, not in history but semittic languages at the University of Oslo, Norway. He also happens to be a Jehovahs Witness, and as the only academic worldwide, he has taken it upon himself to defend the WTS`s "chronology" against the evil 99.9999% of the rest of the academic world, who says that Jerusalem fell in 587/586 BC. In doing so, he has compromised his scholarly integrity, and has become an embarassment to his University. But of course, as a loyal JW he put the organisation first, scholarly integrity second. The author of "Gentile Times Reconsidered", Carl Jonsson is criticising Furulis book (and now the revised edition). And in the rest of cyberspace, there is of course a "war" between Furulis adherents (usually young, nerdy JWs with computers) and the "apostates". You know, kind of like the war in heaven in 1914...
study edition of the wt will be restricted - it will be as per km
Well, if they think this will stop the internet-apostates, then they are definitely wrong...

Scholar is back with a vengeance... It`s just a matter of hours now before Jeffro and AlanF shows up, and then it`s a 20-page-thread world war again...
I can`t wait.
Btw Scholar, your latest point, that Masons calculations amounts to 66 years, is irrelevant. The "70 years" doesn`t have to be exact anyway, it`s still (round about) 70 years. However, if you start counting in 609, when the initial attacks on Judah began, when Nebuchadnezzar was leading his armies against Judah as commander of the army for his father, you`ll get (exactly) 70 years. Either way, it is irrelevant, as the Temple was not destroyed until 587 BC. The "70 years" does not refer to a period without a temple, although this is what your "celebrated WT scholars" would want it to mean. If this was to be the case, the Babylonian dominance over Judah would have lasted a full 90 years, and as you well know, this is nowhere mentioned in the Bible, on the contrary, the Bible says 70 years FOR Babylon, and as it refers to the entire length of Babylons dominance over Judah, it would have had to say "90 years" for Babylon (within your celebrated "chronology"). "Exile and servitude" is not the same as "70 years without a Temple. Unless you can provide me with a scipture that says "for 70 years there will be absolutely no Temple, nor any inhabitants in the land (at all), so saith the Lord"...your arguments are as meaningless as always.
Your "celebrated WT Scholars" should get their finger out and admit they were wrong..well, they were about to do that in the 50s when the Soviets launched the Sputnik, but as the vote was put to the test in the GB, there was no 2/3rd majority for it - presumably because some of the "celebrated WT Scholars", the older members of the GB had had a heavy lunch, and fell asleep during the vote, while others were out in the hall having their diapers changed, but anyway...
therefore the great multitude could not appear prior to 1918. riches pg 297, paragraph 2.. the identification of the great multitude has not heretofore been clear to those creatures on earth who served god.
evidently john, being in doubt, propounded the question as to the identity of the great multitude.
had he known, he would not had asked the question.
Yes, who are these in the white robes, where did they come from? But more importantly, where are they (in that particular situation), and when did they come. This occurs before the 7th seal has been broken, in other words, before Gods throne (and the "new Jerusalem") descends from heaven (last chapter of Revelation). There is only one possible answer: The great multitude are in heaven! - along with everyone else! Dont try telling your study conductor this, though...
Or maybe the ones in the (tailor suited) white robes are Miller and his gang, that night in 1844, waiting the whole night thru to be swept away up into heaven, after having all quit their jobs, etc.
How many times did Jesus cleanse the temple?
According to the WTS? No idea, there was that one time in 1844, 1974, 1918...oh yes, three times. The answer is: 3
The fact that one of the elders could answer Johns questions suggest what?.
Nothing, except that the elder got up there first.
How did the John class learn the identity of the great crowd?
More importantly: What is "the John class"? Where are they spoken of in the Bible?
Does anyone know what the WTBTS says about speaking in tongues?
Yes, they don`t like it much, but on the other hand, the stuff that comes out of the Watchtower makes just about as much sense as speaking in tongues, handling snakes or other such activities.
Can people communicate with the Dead to gain divine light?
Apparantly, the WTS believes that its ok, cause they claim to be doing it all the time. After all, Russell and the rest of the 144K are "communicating" with them from heaven. Not to mention that they at one time loved the Bible-translation of Johannes Greber, who claimed to have been communicating with "spirits" when completing his translation.
Prior to 1932 did Jesus see the great multitude or not?
No, he had been dead for 1900 years at that time.
