This religion is based on being different, and on the belief that the entire rest of christianity is going to be (physically and violently) wiped out on Judgement day. The anti-trinitarianism seperates JWs from the entire rest of christianity, along with the death on the torture stake, and the earthly paradise. JWs will never go mainstream, JW dubdom was designed to be different. That`s the basis of every cults agenda. To be different, special, chosen. There`s no way they`re going to loosen up, on the contrary. As another prediction fails, another doctrine-change becomes necessary (as armageddon never comes, all the annointed dies of old age, etc), and doctrine-changes can`t take place in a softened-up environment.

New member of the Governing Body from Australia
by jwfacts injeff jackson has just been appointed to the gb.
he is a family friend from tasmania, a little island at the bottom of australia.
he is about 50 and claimed to be annointed when i think he was in his late 30's, as a great shock to everyone.

Do any jw pubs say "Due time has approached" ala Luke 21:8?

It is unthinkable at the organization will ever be in the hands of the lowly, second-class, Other Sheep.
Ha ha, yeah, and that`s really funny! The "annointed" class is pretty much filled up now. It`s even strange that this guy is in his 50s, and claimed to be annointed only 20 years ago, I didn`t even know that was "allowed". I though the "annointed class" was filled up allready by the late 30s or 40s. What are they gonna do, when they`re all dead, and still no Armageddon? Claim that some of the previous/dead annointed were apostates, or at least mistaken, in their claim to have been annointed? Oh, the future of dubdom is interesting. What will they come up with next...

Jehovah's witnesses ARE the correct group.
What?-ithinkisee
He he, never mind JCanon, he`s like a JW with a twist. He believes the WT was the house of God, but that they have gone astray, and are now apostates (evildoers in the temple of God). And he believes that he has the one (and only) correct interpretation of the scriptures. And I could be mistaken, but his nick might just be a short version of "Jesus Christ Anonymous"). Just look thru his post history, and see what he`s about. He`s a very intelligent person with a lot of biblical knowledge, but he has some crazy ideas...to say the least (no offense JC ;o)

Oh yes, you bet I am. My favorite food...pasta with meatballs, yum yum. In Italy they eat pasta a lot with fish, clams and stuff, and that I don`t like. But pasta with meatballs&tomato sauce, lasagna, pizza...that`s paradise right there. God must be italian.

Explain 1 Chronicles 16: 30; Psalms 104:5; Psalms 37: 9, 11, 22, 29, 34
by findingmyway in.
if i remember correctly, these and other scriptures like it support the belief of "paradise on earth" inhabited by righteous people forever.
sorry to make you pull out your bibles, but do these verses confirm that the earth will always exist (i.e., never totter) and that the righteous will live on it forever?

Excellent, Leolaia. I can see, however, how JWs can easily fool people that know little/nothing about the Bible, when pulling out scriptures like that. When you just look at it, not taking into consideration the context of the text, it can look very scary (if that`s what they want) or promising (if that`s what they want). The bible is a dangerous tool...

Well, if the family and deseased wanted this, I don`t see a problem with it. Maybe the dead guy was a JW, and it was his will. I do see a problem with how they crash funerals, and simply take over funerals, when they get a chance to, though. I have really bad experiences with JWs and funerals. One of them came to preach at my moms funeral. My mom was a JW, but only one of her 5 children has remained in the cult. So we decided, on a 4 - 1 vote (lol) to bury her properly, in a church. That didn`t stop one of them though, from coming to the funeral, only to walk around afterwards trying to convert us 4 apostates back into dubdom, saying shit like "when something like this happens, it should really make you think", pulling out a scrapbook of newspaper-articles of disasters around the world, claiming this was surely the end times! (ffs !!!). I should have knocked him down right there and then. If I ever have to bury a close one again, and they show up again, I definitely will. They "took over" the burial of my non-jw grandpa on my fathers side too. He didn`t have a religious bone in his body his whole life, but his daughter was a JW, and then she decided, of course, that he should be buried the JW-way. I had no idea, when I showed up for the funeral (which was held at the hospitals chappel). Imagine my surprise when I saw the chapel filled with JWs, 90% of which had never even known my grandpa. When the speaker started saying all the "eternal life on an earthly paradise"-crap, I just stood up and left. Damn bastards.

Resurrected state?
by MidwichCuckoo in''for in the resurrection neither do men marry nor women be given in marriage, but are as angels in heaven'' (matthew 22 v 30).
i was taught that this scripture means that the resurrected will be unmarriageable.
(i state what appears to be the obvious, as i have since heard that god would be cruel to disallow the 'reunion' of a happy couple separated by death).. as i understood this scripture to mean the resurrected would be celibate, it made sense to me that they would not have the appearance of 'survivors'.

If you can get a hold of the Watchtower article of June 1, 1987, pages 30-31, you will see it stated that the New System will probably not entail marriage.
The whole thing is just retarded. No sex, no love, no flirting. Probably no alcohol, no smokes, no party, no "worldly" movies, no "worldly" litterature. Only praise Jehovah. Oh yeah, and you can go mountain hiking and stuff. Sports. Swimming. Football. Inbetween praising Jehovah. But if you`re gonna live forever, I think you`re gonna get pretty sick of both hiking, swimming and football. Where`s the eternal life? Eternal boredom is more like it.
..and they were ALL bloke angels too. Maybe then the resurrected can have a bit of 'rumpy pumpy', but just not marry eh?
Hm, I could be wrong, but I thought angels were supposed to be of neutral gender? No genitals, I think. So the rumpy pumpy wouldn`t even amount to much.

1 Cor. 13:8
by sunshine2 in.....so if gifts of prophecying were done away with, maybe the society did not read this scripture.......maybe this is the reason they are always wrong.
i wonder how a witness would explain this scripture.

LT:
To that end, even Paul and others prophesied (see John's "Revelation", as a prpphetic vision). Jesus comments relate to the false prophets that would come in the last days, but doesn't rule out the possibility of true prophets (which they at one time claimed to be).
Hm, now I`m not sure. You could be right. And yes, Revelation is of course supposed to be a prophetic vision. And the entire NT is supposed to have been written by divine inspiration (which would also be considered a sort of prophesying). I`m not sure why I came away with that notion, that there would be no prophesying after Jesus. But, at least concerning JW-doctrine: A part of JW-doctrine is that "the age of miracles" ended with Jesus Christ. Noone would perform miracles after him, and if you were to see something "miracelous" happen, it would surely be something from the demons. This is part of JW-doctrine. Which just makes their insane claims of "divine intervention", like in that episode in Australia in the 80s, when a bomb exploded in a KH, and noone was hurt, just even more stupid. In my opinion, prophesying (real, accurate prophesying) must be seen as a miracle, don`t you think, in the sense of "divine guiding/intervention"? And yes, I know Jesus warnings about false prophets were about prophets in the last days, but at the time of Christ, noone thought/knew that it would take 2000 years (or 3000, or 4000, who knows) before these last days would occur. I think the followers of christ believed that they were living "in the end times", I don`t think they believed 2000 years would pass, and still no second coming. Also, the texts of the NT are supposed to be (by legend) the accounts of people who lived at the time of Christ, people who actually knew him (although secular history shows that John is probably not the real author of Revelation, from a christian viewpoint, it is supposed to be an account of his vision, a man who lived alongside Christ - so this doesn`t necessarily mean that my "no prophets after christ" - belief is wrong...although I`m not so sure anymore)
