  If that is the passage they use to justify viewing us all as the antichrist, then that is pretty ironic. The passage only says "people who do not confess Jesus as Christ coming in the flesh". That means that JWs should not view anyone christian (that is, all the 1 billion christians of the world) as the "antichrist". They all believe Jesus is the Messiah, come in the flesh. Tell that the next time they tell you you are the antichrist.

  Unless you are comfortable with that label, of course.

  That`s right. There`s not a single person on the planet (possibly apart from some forgotten, unknown tribe in the rain forest in Brasil) that hasn`t heard about Jesus Christ. Everybody in the whole world has heard about Jesus Christ and the Bible. Some has decided to become christians, some refuse. That`s all Jesus ever asked for. He never commanded his followers to go from door to door to preach the word, dressed in a suit with a briefcase full of Awakes, he just commanded them to go and bear witness of him. There are many ways to do this. The evangelists have their own TV-networks, and that`s a hell of a lot more effective than the very oldfashioned door-to-door-thing that you and the JWs are doing. What, do you think it is by coincidense that the evangelists and born-agains have risen to become one of the, possibly the most important and powerful political lobbying group in the U.S (I`m not saying that that is a good thing, btw)?

  See, the problem here is that you are viewing this with JW-eyes. Of course, not every person in the world has heard the JW-version of the Bible. You believe that it is the duty (or that the Bible says that it is the duty for every christian denomination) to spread the word about their view of the Bible. But the fact is that very few (if any) christians view the Bible this way. So what you are doing, is taking the standars/views of the WTS (that you have a duty to evangelise to the world according to your biblical doctrines) - and projecting them onto all the other christians of the world. Can`t you see how narrow this view of yours is?

  Acts 1.8: "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

  Not: Go door to door and make all people Jehovahs witnesses. You may believe that this is the command in Matthew 10 too, but that passage (and similar passages) are probably just referring to the apostles (otherwise I would have to ask you why you do not also "heal the sick, raise the dead, clean those with leprosy and drive out demons"as in verse 8, or why you gladly accept money for your "services", which verse 9 forbids). Nope, just witness about Jesus to the ends of the earth. The christians have long since completed this command. All the world know about Jesus Christ. You should find other things to do with your time than annoy people at 10 in the morning on a Saturday.

  No. I always enjoy your posts, DH, but this time it`s a bit to much sensationalism for my taste. There is no way in heaven or hell that there would ever be a mass suicide in the JW-cult. It`s just not gonna happen, ever, it`s not that kind of a cult. There is no money in corpses laying around, you have to be alive (and robotisized, of course), to place those magazines. The mass-suicide-sects all have one thing in common: They are very small, rarely over a 1000 members, and they are even more isolated than the JW-cult. The brainwashing elements are basically the same, but even clearer to the outsider (when it comes to these small suicide-cults, like Jones` cult). That`s what makes the JW-religion so dangerous: It looks like a "normal religion" on the surface, while in reality, it is not a normal religion, it is based on a complete obedience to the cult-leader(s). But the JWs are no suicide cult, and they never will be (apart from the ongoing suicides due to the blood-doctrine, that is). There`s no money in 6 million corpses.

  Totally depressed and don't know what to do......

  i don't know how some of you are around this time of year, but i'm just really depressed lately, more so this time of year it seems.

  because it is nearing the memorial time and now that i have a son, i am totally lost as to what to do and what to teach him concerning religion.

  my own youth was stolen by the wtbs and has made me a total wreck at times.

  That is your answer, right there. Protect your son at all costs. I look at this way: The JW-upbringing is an "evil inheritage", it just goes on and on down thru the generations, just because someone in your family (grandmother or great grandmother or whatever) did a stupid choice, once upon a time in your familys history. Now his/her stupid choice follows the family down thru the generations. You have the power to stop this cycle, with your own children.

  Mainly though, I'm completely astounded at the lack of attention or scriptual support my family got when my father became terminally ill and then died several years ago

  Tell me about it. I lost both my parents to cancer. My father spent 11 months in a hospital bed, dying from a brain tumor. He was a big guy, 270 lbs, when he died, he weighed less than half of that. Almost no visits, apart from the visits around surgery-time, of course, to make sure the patient stayed strong and opposed blood, etc. There is no love in the JW-religion, not even at times of dying. You`re on the right path.

I`ve read that piece of toilet paper they refer to as the "holy" quran, and it is just as violent as the old Testament, if not more. And what`s worse, many (most?) moslems believe it is to be interpreted literally, to this day. Go take your Allah-crap somewhere else, "Mike".
