  i was one, when in, that believed it was the best thing to share your talents with those of the bretheren.

  where you a plumber, a carpenter, an auto mechanic?

  then it would behoove you to take those skills and give them to the community of your brothers and sisters.

  Because my father worked for a local utility company, we were considered comfortable...so all of my clothes and toys would go to the other JW kids when I grew out of them.

  I always had a car, so if there was somewhere to go we took my car and used my gas!

  After I married and had not yet faded, my ex-husband and I ran a gasoline service station.....1973, 1974, 1975..during the first gas shortage....all of the witnesses knew where to go to get gas.(on credit yet!) and if they needed something fixed they brought it to us and then made payments (when they remembered). We towed people, fixed flats in the rain, etc.

  And yet, years later, after we had sold the business.....they could not come to my home for my pioneer sister's bridal shower, because they were going through the "not associating with unbelievers" phase and my ex-husband was not a believer....but they could go to my parent's house (dad was never a JW)and eat the food and drink the beer and alcohol my ex-husband paid for. Go Figure!

  No, I wouldn't offer them any help! But if anyone at JWD need something....If I have it....it's yours.

  Victims of serious crime?

  When I was 26 and my son was 3 a young man put a gun to my head at the train station down the street from my home in Philadelphia. I offered him my jewelry and all my money. He let me keep my jewelry and allowed me to take the $96.00 out of my wallet and hand it to him. He told me to count to 100 before I moved. The whole time this was going on he kept telling me not to worry he wasn't going to hurt me or my son....all I could think of was he was going to shoot me and my son would be standing on the train platform by himself.

  my mother called last night to tell me that the oldest daughter of one of my best childhood friends had died of a brain tumor.

  i remember when robin was pregnant with stephanie 25 years ago.

  i grew up with robin and her 2 sisters lisa and julie.

  Would you go to a funeral at the Kingdom Hall?

  so my brother and i have been having talks about what will happen when our dad passes away eventually.

  most of his brothers and sisters have died in their 50's or early 60's.

  i flat out refuse to attend any part of the service that would be done at the kingdom hall.

  Breaking News: Berry girls lose high court appeal

  with those two short, sweet, words of the nh supreme court, the berry girls 4-year fight to hold the wts responsible has come to an abrupt and bitter end.. a preliminary scan of the opinion indicates a virtual slam-dunk victory for the wts, although there was one dissenting justice out of the four on one issue only, the only female justice of the four.

  Frankly I've just finished a good long cry! As a victim of physical abuse at the hands of a JW mother and non-JW father, my heart bleeds for those two girls and their mother. Fortunately I was not sexually abosed, at least not by my parents......!

  Up until recently, I've wanted to believe that the JW's were a group of imperfect people trying to do what is right. But after reading through a lot of the information on this site....I'm sick and disgusted and so very thankful I didn't raise my children in the "truth"

  My prayers for the two girls who so bravely came forward and all of the other children (no matter their age) that suffered and suffer.

  I guess I'm pretty lucky....in the part of the country where I grew up, the funeral is held in the funeral home and at the grave side. I'm sure when it's my mother's time, she will have a totally witness funeral.....my BIL is an elder and mom and my sister are pioneers!

  However, if they do have it in the KH, I will go along with my ex-husband and our 2 children and their spouses or partners and act very dignified and proper. As much as I hate the KH.....I enjoy rubbing the fact that I have a life, even though I'm not a JW.

  If you don't go, believe me, sometime in the future you will be sorry.......you'll need closure. Besides all of you friends at JWD will be here for you.....!

  I'm enjoying a flute of Rosa Regale by Banfi.....a perfect wine to have with Chocolate! Sooooo I just had to finish up the Chocolate Mousse' I made this afternoon.........life is good......wine, chocolate and JWD!

  wooohooo like old times

  oh my god, i'm back into the groove again.

  back when i first made the move to get out of this religion, i was partying with this girl from work, but then i fuked it up.

  second semester i made lots of friends but they really chirstian, but still fun with going to concerts and all.

  I think first of all I'd clean up my language.....you may think it's "kool" but most young women don't until they know you better......and NEVER EVER, EVER put your hand on someone you don't know....that's a good way to end up handcuffed in the back of a police car being charged with assault or something worse! If she's got friends around the size of Richey it's also possible you could lose your whole arm. A friendly Hi my name is _______ would you like to dance, works pretty well with the girls I see at the dance clubs I work in down here in Florida.

  Yeh! I know.....I'm middle aged, etc., etc.....but you know what, I can bounce someone out as well as the big guys and quite honestly because I look like everyone's mom I can diffuse a lot of heated situations....and the females in the club feel they have someone to come to if they're having a problem!

  Just hang loose....don't try so hard....there are a lot of fish in the sea....take your time! And most important don't be so serious HAVE FUN!

  i was trying to fade, and thought i had done so successfully for the past 18months.. i have just received a call from my dad saying it will be announced tomorrow that i have been disfellowshipped... can they do this???.

  Chok, I realize this is a terribly emotional topic, however you did introduce it and one thing I've noticed....if you ask a question or ask for an opinion....you're going to get it here.

  If you are DF'd, it is going to impact your family....if you fade, it is going to impact your family...if you DA yourself, it is going to impact your family. No matter how it is done....leaving Jehovah's Witnesses changes your life forever.....better now than when your children are older...believe me it has a greater impact then than now! THERE IS NO EASY WAY TO LEAVE! If there were JWD wouldn't be needed.

  If you are DF's you can always be re-instated (if you so desire)....if you fade you can always be "brought back into the fold" (if you so desire), if you DA yourself.....well I don't know if that's reversable....or you can sit on the fence and be miserable and totally mess up your family's life for a few more years.

  (by family I mean your immediate family....wife and children!)

  Weight Issues

  she's done every fad diet and always gives up.

  now she's turned to phentermine, a controlled substance for weight loss.
