It's scary to think about how true to life that movie can possibly be for some people. I had a friend when I was younger (and a JW- neither of us were baptized)- her parents were divorced, mom remarried, Dad a drug addict who could barely take care of himself let alone her- she got involved with a 22 year old guy, did some drugs, and got pregnant. All at 13 (actually just shy of 13). Sad.

Man, that's not fair daystar- JW's are at the bottom for you. I need to get there through careful meditation and prayer and...
Actually i think banging my head on a wall and pushing things out would work much better.

Can someone explain the generation change?
by feelinglost inafter being on here now for a little while, i decided to ask my mother this weekend about whether armageddon is still supposed to come before the generation of 1914 is gone.
so this leaves me a little confused- is this right, is this what they still teach?
or has something changed?

After being on here now for a little while, I decided to ask my mother this weekend about whether Armageddon is still supposed to come before the generation of 1914 is gone. And she said yes.
So this leaves me a little confused- is this right, is this what they still teach? Or has something changed? I was still in in 1995, but I don't remember anything changing (shows how much I paid attention!).
So if someone knows and can explain to me, or tell where to look, that would be great too. I would love to slowly plant little seeds of doubt in mom's mind- I want her out!
Also, it's just amusing to me- Mom has been very "can't spend time with my df'd daughter, or invite her over." But she wanted me to come get the rest of my stuff from my parent's before they move, so hubby and I went this weekend, and I invited ourselves to stay for dinner, and just jumped on the chance to make us dinner- made dessert, was trying to make everything hubby liked- even made his favorite cookies! I told hubby it doesn't bother her "conscience" as long as she wasn't the one to invite us. Oh well, I'll take seeing her any way I can. Oh, and she started crying when I threw all of my old books out. But besides just not wanting them in my house, they must have gotten wet- so they were all gross anyways- and I told her if I ever want them again, I know where to find them (not going to happen...)
So anyways- can anyone en"light"en me...?

THE ULTIMATUM is about to be thrown.............

it would be very difficult destroying something youve built. Many happy times, wonderful memories.
Yes, it would be very difficult. But it will be even more difficult if you make the decision to get baptized FOR HER and then some years down the road realize it was a big mistake. By then things will be built even higher, and will come crashing down even harder.
I don't know anything about your situation, but what's been built can't be that strong if she will ultimately give you an ultimatum to be baptized or that's it. I've seen from experience that if relationships are built with the idea in mind that someone will do something eventually, then it is not a good relationship. Because either the one person will eventually do what the other has always wanted and not be happy about it, or the one doing the pushing will eventually say that's it, you didn't do what i wanted, it's over.
Trust me, getting involved with the Jehovah's Witness religion is a huge step with life altering consequences. You have to be 100% sure it's what you want to do if you decide to do. You can't do it for her, because eventually you will get to a point where either she realizes you didn't want to do it, or you will resent her for making you do it.
Relationships should not be built on any sort of conditions. If they are built on an unsteady foundation, they will eventually crumble. If both people do not have the same things in mind, or the same goals, it will not work.
Think long and hard about this decision, and do not be forced to make one. If she really loves you, she will understand that you have to be ready to make this decision yourself.

No Jehovah Witnesses !!!
by JH inaround here, in my neighbourhood, there are many apartment buildings, and i remeber as a jw, how many people didn't want to be bothered by us jw's.. so, i took my camera this morning and went around in a few apartment buildings and took pictueres of all kinds of signs on doors, telling witnesses not to knock at their door, and go away !!!.
on this first picture, it's quite polite.
it says in french, no solicitor.

the classicist- You could try:
To the tune of "We're Jehovah's Witnesses":
No Jehovah's Witnesses!
We're damn sick of pretenses.
We don't want to hear your false prophecy
What you fortell shall ne're be!
I've never seen any signs around here directed at the Witnesses- might be fun to get some put up!

-I have certainly been changing my wardrobe (I look at some of those things and wonder- what was i thinking?!?)
-Have sex- lots of it, in all different positions (even some of the "naughty" things- which I really never understood- seriously, must you be involved in everything every single person does!)
-I get drunk- and it's fun- last New Year's Eve I walked around NYC saying hi to everyone- including the police- even struck up a conversation with some random guy walking down the street. And I got drunk in a club.
-Swear if I feel like it (oh wait, did that before)
-Hubby and I like to make fun of the porn we see on tv- which means I must be watching it.
-Buffy the Vampire Slayer became one of my all time favorite shows, and I have watched lots and lots of vampire and R-rated movies.
-Meet wonderful people on this wonderful apostate site and try to learn what I was being told. (gasp!)
-Celebrate every possible holiday and birthday- I have 13 cousins on my mom's side and the past couple of years it's been my goal to catch all of their birthdays!
-Going back to COLLEGE in september to get myself a Career that does not involve knocking on people's doors.

My dogs would eat not only kitty poop, but also there own poop. Ew.
My current cat and my husband's old cat (who we had at separate times) both felt an urgent need to poop right after we would clean the cat box- didn't they understand that it is now no longer clean and won't be again for another 12-24 hours?

Embarrassing moments at work
by damselfly ini think we need a fun fluffy thread today, so this is my attempt at starting one.
at work we have a big bathtub with air jets.
clients come in for a hydrobath, (hopefully remember their swimsuit 'cause i've seen so many naked people by now it's getting boring), leave and then, oh joy!, i get to clean the tub.

I was slightly embarassed this morning at having to ask one of the patients who came into the office to get rid of the very large black bug that had just made it's appearance in my office. And then when it ran under the copier, and I tried to pull out the copier, and I jumped back and screamed a little b/c a paper clip fell- he got a good chuckle out of it all (and thankfully got the bug!)
