by Nellie inforget about being a witness - i never, ever understood how mainstream christian people could justify participating in a celebration that is so overtly satanic.
while i recognize the ability to dress up in non-satanic costumes, the participation aspect bothers me.
of course, now, my kids want to trick or treat, but i just can't bring myself to say "yes.

Yes, but don't they maintain that Jesus was human when he was on the earth? And don't they also say that his name is Michael now that he's in heaven?
So if they look to Jesus as their leader, according to their own teachings they are looking to a human.
Of course, we all know that the only true god for JWs is the Trinity of the Watchtower Society, the Governing Body, and the Legal Department.

Socially awkward after 20 friendless years in the cult. I have one friend I talk to regularly on the phone, but see only a few times a year.
Separated after 16 1/2 years of marriage. No kids.
Employed as a computer geek.
Drive a 1998 Ford F150 and a 1982 Yamaha 1100 motorcycle. Both are black. So are most of my clothes.
I rarely get out of the house for anything other than work or shopping.

The pioneer™ who studied with me has been a JW for 25 years. He quit college one year before getting his engineering degree and started pioneering™. Now, 25 years later, I still drive by him every Tuesday morning as he's cleaning the same windows on the same street as he was 25 years ago. I guess Armageddon wasn't just around the corner after all.

I can't read the WT and AWAKE anymore
by Jez inhundreds of supplementary publications written by unnamed authors that can hide behind the watchtower and bible tract society and say anything without referencing it.
lately, i have been thinking that this is one of the reasons that the society does not encourage higher education.
try handing in an essay without your name on it, try not referencing your essay, try having no works cited, try to have only 1 works cited, try quoting out of context, try spewing statistics or numbers or trends in your essay with no reference or date, add ellipsis that only alert your instructor to the potential of hidden information, or try presenting as support for your thesis a third party quote.

Gee, I find it very interesting and amusing that people can bash Jehovah's Witnesses,the Watchtower, and the Awake all while doing it on the Jehovah's Witness Discussion forum. Why don't the bashers go to what ever religion you all are website and talk about it among yourselves in your own religious discussion forum website and leave us Witnesses a place where we can discuss our beliefs without the bashing. If you don't like it, why are you still here talking about it? Do you not have anything else better to do? What an enriched life you all must have!
You're kidding, right? Check around a bit, and you'll soon discover that most of us are former JWs, though active JWs are welcome here too. W *of the class who read the Awake! magazine for 20 years and still doesn't have the equivilent of a college education*

Minimus Is Demonized
by minimus ini posted this on a different thread regarding my mother but her sister (my aunt) told her that because i left the "truth" and am living my life outside of bible principles, that the "demons" are affecting her.
she told my mom that twice last week, "the demons pushed her" and caused her to fall.
because my mother associates with me and my mom associates with her sister----therefore the "contact" is made thru my mother to her.

Ok, so how does one explain the fact that I, as a Catholic for the first 25 years of my life, lived relatively problem free? But within 2 months of studying with Jehovah's Witnesses I fell and sprained my right ankle 3 times. Over the next 20 years I had 4 knee injuries, more back injuries than I can count, sleep apnea, hypothyroidism, developed migraines, gained a ton of weight, had surgery in my throat, had 2 polyps removed from my colon, 2 kidney stones, and developed gout.
Maybe I should blame Jehovah's Witnesses for introducing demons into my life.
