last week was the 2 day assembly.i didn't go to either one.
today,my mom called and told me the the c.o.
and d.o.came for a visit.i've been attending only once a week and no field service in about 4 years.
I make sure I never get in a position to talk to a CO, DO, elder, brother, "mature" sister, etc.
This is what I do. I haven't gone to one of their interrogation sessions yet. Only once when they ambushed me outside my apartment did I speak with them. Remember that they are experts at fishing for info that can give them an excuse to begin a judicial investigation. If you give them nothing by keeping silent, even the accusations of others will generally not be enough to get you outed.

It did for me. I wouldn't have joined to get it. But being that I was stuck in the religion through being born into it, I made the best of a bad situation.

i have been studying a lot about mind control.
i understand that while someone is in the "honeymoon" phase of being recruited in to a group, it is very unlikely that they will leave.
my jw friend is still in that stage.
Do you think the points that have been made previous to her commitment to the group will start to weigh on her mind? That she may want to revisit them with me when disillusion starts to take hold?
I am not an expert since my honeymoon phase lasted decades. But I will say that the above is probably your best hope. It is why I still talk with my JW "friends." Because how does one ignore the kind, non-judgmental advice of a trusted friend once the emotional bond between a person and the Borg is undermined by all of the failed prophecies and other BS that we are so familiar with?

a few weeks back i had the pleasure in meeting a druid.
chatting away about all things spiritual he informed me that he was married to a jw.
imagine my surprise.
These may not top the Druid one: I know a sister who went to an international convention and met a brother there. They didn't speak each other's languages much, yet she moved to his country and married him. She is now depressed and trying to get back to the US. I can also think of many who had little in common socially, culturally or in any other way (including myself) who get married because the "truth" is supposed be most important. That "loving Jehovah" trumps all else. I have seen many Bethelites do this.

Regardless of what you think of the Watchtower, the explaination of the ransom this way is the only one that ever made sense to me anyway.
This made sense to me as well, but they stop using it much and focused on that justice stuff. Even so, no where does the Bible speak about this potential human race. Like everything else WT it is a human attempt at explaining things.

You are soooo right Terry. That ransom thing is such a hack job. People in my Hall gave me kudos for "explaining" it well when I gave the Memorial talk. And I swear I still did a lousy job. It is so ridiculous and illogical. In fact many JWs simply chalk it up to being one of the "deep things of God," which is not unlike teachings of the churches which JWs condemn.

there has been much discussion of the "new light" regarding 1935. what i find interesting are the comments that prove to me the "faithful and discreet slave" are irrelevant in this organization.
in this qfr they make comments stating that newly anointed "do not demand special attention" and they "do not believe that they necessarily have more holy spirit than their companions" of the other sheep.
imagine a person can be part of the group that directs the organization, yet not have any special attention or extra holy spirit.
After all there is no record kept of the names of the so called FDS, so how do they even know whom they should contact.
Would you believe that my friend swears that he has sent this data to WT?! I have served as a PO and have never done this. Furthermore he swears that there are times when some anointed one writes in and changes a policy. I retorted that an exception does not disprove my point. Then he says that ALL anointed have this right and that it is their fault if they don't choose to use it. What is sad is that this elder has contacts on the GB directly and still can't see the hypocrisy.
