What a silly statement. Why not use the argument that everything can be explained by natural processes, ones that God put in place? They could still make the case for God. These writers do such grandstanding yet have been wrong so many times.

Remarkably Blatant Antiscience Statements in This Week's WT Study
by hamilcarr inis there still enough room for scientists in the wt?.
16. do we hear valueless things being uttered today?
for example, some scientists say that evolutionary theory and scientific discoveries in other fields demonstrate that there is no longer any need to believe in god, that everything can be explained by natural processes.

(How) Does Truth Set Free?
by Narkissos in"the truth shall set you free" (cf.
john 8:32) is the kind of sentence that potentially transcends any contextual setting.
as we know only too well, it has been used over and over again in religious propaganda and is very easy to return against it (i.e.

I guess for me it is similar to the expression "knowledge is power". Truth to me is knowledge and understanding of reality. As with many of us the reality of the "truth" of the WT freed me to be an independent individual with time for myself and the things that mattered most to me.

Has anyone noticed the "Message of Doom" in the 7/15/08 WT?
by logic&reason inin paragraph 16 of the first study artice.
.
they are being very vague, but it is obvious that they are trying to stir up speculation/excitement.. the entire magazine appears to be about the house to house ministry.

Imagine JWs running around saying that the end is really here. No one would even pay attention. Kind of like the False Religion tract a couple of years ago.

Stupid Knorr! Should Witnesses have Sunday school just for kids?
by Witness 007 inimagine sitting thru the watchtower study on a sunday with your 6 year old and 9 year old kids....the topic "fornication" the discussion explains how oral sex and touching of genitals is still fornication...why do kids have to sit thru this??
or the bible reading is about lot having sex with his daughters....this type of thing is not for kids!
and why should kids be forced to sit quietly while someone drones on for 2 hours?.

The Proclaimers book mentions that some branches actually had kid friendly stuff. Rutherford stopped it for the sake of unity! Knorr kept the foolishness going.

I'm lucky to have my wife
by 10p inwe had a death in the family on the weekend ... not someone i was really close to, but someone one of my immediate family members was very close to ... anyway, it made me think that i needed to pluck up the courage and talk to my wife about blood transfusions.
(the death was unrelated to xfusions, btw) .
so i said to my wife i really wanted to talk to her about transfusions, in a calm manner.

Photographs of old witness friends and Witness events. Do what with them?
by Thechickennest inmy family just took a stroll down witness lane this month as we searched for photographs that our graduating high school daughter needed for her display at her graduation party.
we have an immense file of photos of a previous life with the jw's.
in a way its a history of a former life.

For me it still hurts to look at all of my old friends. But I will never get rid of the photos. As mentioned I had a life there. It is what it is. Plus I don't want my daughter to see me slipping into extreme ways of behaving. My care for my former friends shows up how unloving that religion makes its members.

Sunday's public talk...
by kzjw inwent with the wife this week for the public talk (i simply will not sit through the watchtower study), the subject was about how poorly governments are taking care of thier people in disasters.
the speaker(who had a british accent) started by saying "burma(myanmar) had 2 tsunamis and the government sent flat screen tv's as aid for the refugees..." needless to say this dillweed lost me for the next 30 minutes of his talk about how man can't care for god's people.
i left during the study as always and returned at the end of the meeting, still burning over the glaring lie told by this "brother" which by the way no one even batted an eye in the congregation!

This is so typical for JWs. I think many people are guilty of hearing a piece of a report and filling in the gaps with outrageous material. But the average person isn't giving public lectures that are taken by the listeners as gospel. Many JW elders do this. I have known GB to do it.
