Thankyou Samiam, that was interesting reading.
It is good to read what people are thinking about the witnesses.
You'd think if the witnesses wanted to appeal to human conscience a bit they would do things that people
could point to as a benefit to the community.
But they are too pure to do that. Their thinking is too black and white for that.
Its them vs Satan and the Worldly people.
I was hoping the Watchtower would go belly up soon. But this news of their real estate wealth means they have plenty to pay out to more law suits for years to come. Darn.

Admiting Mistakes/Poor Judgements?
by choosing life indo you find it hard to admit mistakes oe even just incidents of poor judgements on your part?
most of the time i do not have trouble, but occassionally i am more reluctant.
what makes it so important to us, that we become stubborn and refuse to bend?.

It is dangerous to admit mistakes to the wrong people.
You find that out early on in life.
Its no different when you become a company or run an institution.
Your auto insurance will advise you not to admit to culpability on your part
when you become involved in an accident. Their reasoning is that you may
or may not be the responsible party after all the evidence is in.
To admit the mistake was all yours may be an error.
Law suits and jail time and all sorts of repercussions follow admissions of guilt.
As for the Virginia Tech massacre, the truth is we are all
learning how to react properly to terrorism. This will become
another sad learning experience. There should be clear guidelines for
institutions which care for children. -

How to get the programming out of my mind.
by Apostate.Jr ini have been reading this board for a year now, so i'm not new, but new to posting :)
please let me apologize in advance as i am having trouble separating what is true - from what i hear at the meetings, vs here, and private research, so i may ramble or say things that may sound watchtowery.
i still go to the meetings due to family pressure which may eventually end, not sure when, probably when i decide its enough.

I have a question for you ApostateJr.
If the Watchtower said one thing and the Bible said another, which do you think the so called truth loving witnesses would follow?
Sadly the Watchtower places great importance on itself as a mediator entity.
It creates slaves of its members who feel incompetent to read the Bible for themselves and interpret its meaning. It manipulates their minds to believe they alone (the governing body) understands the scriptures in the correct way.
If the governing body decided tomorrow that four meetings a week was necessary for its members the people would be forced to conform to their demands. If they decided that witnesses should wear a secret identifying mark, again the witnesses would have to do it wouldnt they, or face the consequences.
Power and Control are dominant and prominent in the Cult Religions. That is why they are so easy to identify. Jesus set people free. But religions like the Watchtower cult place demands on their members to conform to rules and regulations not found in the Christian scriptures.
Anyway, if you stay with this forum and read and learn to express your questions and thoughts, you will taste the freedom of expression the Watchtower Cult has denied you for so long.
There are so many religions for you to explore and ask why they worship the way they do.
Its a big wide world out there filled with beautiful feeling and thinking people. Why are they not all Jehovahs Witnesses if the witnesses are so special and wonderful?
Ask them and they will tell you why they could never join that group.
Your quest for knowledge has begun.

Did I just get lucky?
by noontide infirst off let me apologize for the long post, but i really needed to talk about this.
ive been coming to this site for over a year now.

Yes you did get lucky finding this site Noontide. Without this site you might have spent years and years in looneyville worrying about your youthful escapades.
Just as Sarah Smiles advised Pray to God and your sins will be forgiven. I believe this is true.
From all my studies in religion and ponderings on all things spiritual, that is the true path to forgiveness from the creator. It involves no other person nor entity. Our spiritual lives involve only us and God.
After doing that decide what ethics you will use for the rest of your life and go out there and LIVE AND DO SOME GOOD IN THIS WORLD.
After spending some time on this site you will start to feel much better about getting free of the Watchtower cult however you did it. You left out of guilt. As stated, some leave for scriptural reason. But however you got out, YOU GOT OUT! And that is the main thing!
Please continue to write more about your feelings. You express yourself so well, and with so much heart.

HAVE YOU TRULY LEFT THE WITTNESSES OR ARE YOU STILL ACTING LIKE ONE
by nightwarrior inits been a while since i last posted on the site.. as a wittness i was governed by what i said was supposed to do and even act towards other human beings,my sinful life was ripped away by people using pages of the bible, showing what god wanted from me as a person, unfortunately being scriptually replaced by a character that i never realized, nor truth be told acceptable to jehovah god, but under the guise of a christian, we accept all that is brainwashed into our silly minds.
accepting all and everything without question, therfore this is known as being brainwashed, without you even knowing it iike so many within the congregation, was forced to adapt to a hidden manifesto which was be seen but not heard.
complain about any of the elders and you will be disfellowshiped, most of my time i was serving jehovah with a muzzle on my face which would only allow me to speak if i agreed with the elders i wasnot blind but what i saw and experienced as a wittness left me cold.

That is a great question Nightwarrior! I can truly say I have left the stupid cult behind!
Earlier this year I would have to admit I still had vestiges of the smelly JW personality.
I was timid to be truly honest and outspoken. I would feel a certain way but not be able to
articulate my true feelings....because they were not "pretty" and "acceptable" nor
"sweet" and "sugary".
Over the summer I have had to deal with some neighbors and family members who felt they knew the old Anewme.
They thought I would be the old soft touch pushover and allow them to plow over me "and wait on Jehoober to help me" while they got away with lies and embezzlement.
But thanks to JWD I now realize I have been terribly trusting and naive and have wasted half my life on liars and thieves who have robbed me of time and self esteem! I realized they would rather see me dead than happy!
Now I trust NO ONE! ALL MUST PROVE THEIR WORTH TO ME!
I AM GUARDED. I AM TOUGH. I AM NO LONGER A PUSHOVER.
I FEEL NO GUILT AND NO REGRET.
I LIKE MYSELF VERY MUCH.
I WANT TO PROTECT MY TIME AND ENERGY AND FUTURE.
AND ANYONE WHO WANTS TO GET IN MY WAY CAN GO TO HELL!!! -

Has anyone found dating as an EX JW difficult?
by sweetstuff injust curious as to what difficulties have faced people dating as an ex jw.

After the police broke my elbow I used massage therapy to heal it.
The pain was terrible like you say, a crazy pain that you cant get to.
Deep massage took the pain away.
I needed the therapy for a year or two and then the pain dissappeared.
Sorry for your troubles Hambeak.
We all take our turns with troubles. -

Open Mind I remember that example of the sister who witnessed from the iron lung! OMG! We had no chance!!!!
Or how about the sister who made it to the convention despite having no legs and having to ford streams with crocodiles?(or some such ridiculous story)
Those stories were always one upping you. No one could match the faith of the outstanding faithful ones!
Thats the kind of faithful worshiper Jehoober is looking for! Yeah A NUT CASE!
I wrote somewhere else here today that you can knock yourself out for this group for years, but have one little problem and they kick you to the curb. OUTTA HERE!!!!! -

At the hall last night
by Shawn10538 ini went to the hall last night to get an insight book and a concordance.
i had set it up with an elder ahead of time to get them.
i arrived after the meeting had ended, walked up to the counter anxious to leave as quickly as i came when a big brother came up to me, planted his body in between me and the literature servant and started giving me the third degree about who i am, what is my standing in the congregation, and what did i want the books for.

Oh that brother loved it! He sounds like my old brother in law. What a creep! He loved a good fight with an apostate! A real (who was that guy who loved to ream people through the genitals?) anyway, that kind of zealous idiot!
You were taken by surprise. But now you know how they are preparing their brothers at the literature counter these days. Those nerds get together now after their so called Christian meetings and discuss their strategy should any unsuspecting apostate try to gain literature.
What a twisted sad group it is! Who would believe what we have gone through in that cult?
Sorry it took you by surprise. But thanks for sharing the story with us. Maybe another person reading it will try to gain literature and be more prepared to stand up to the moron.
