  Hello everyone, first post.

  hello, i just wanted to introduce myself to everyone here - as i will be posting here.. i grew up a jw and pioneered, was a ministerial servant, ect, i was in the organization for 17 years.

  i left and naturally my family did as they were told and cut off all communication with me.

  this left a horrible taste in my mouth for not just jw's, but any religion for that matter.

  I still have trouble calling a clergy man "father" so please excuse my lack of manners. "Cult" holdover.
  
  But how extraordinary and wonderful that you have found a fulfilling calling! So many of us are floundering after the Watchtower experianza.
  
  
  The Catholic Church has done a lot of changing in the last 35 years and I admit it is an intriguing organization these days.

  Sorry i need to get this off my Chest

  i have been unable to vent this elsewhere and because i'm taking a break from jwd my usual outlet wasn't available (this is partly the reason, i aint home till wednesday) so i decided to come back and post in this topic only, just to help me cope with this situation for both me and megan who needs me to be strong for her right now.. when megan was a child her stepfather abused her sexually, unfortunately for her she was also abused by her brother.

  megan was forced into a corner by her mum (not physically) to admit that her brother abused her because her mum said that megans stepfather never abused her and it was just a ploy on megans part to get her mum to love her stepdad less.

  megan felt to defend herself she needed to prove that she'd kept a few other things from her mum and that her 'perfect son' wasnt so perfect and that she wasnt a liar.

  You need to get tough with that bunch of hillbillies! And tell them to get the HELL AWAY from your wife and your family!
  
  That is one of the greatest gifts to me from JWD.......to learn to say "Go to hell!" to creeps!
  To be certain of my boundaries and those of others. To demand RESPECT and MANNERS from others.
  
  
  Today I have 5 NO TRESPASSING signs at my gate. I put my phone on answering machine only. I never pick up a ringing phone. I do not return the calls from people I do not care to talk to. I do not do anything anymore for anyone else that is detrimental to my well being or happiness.
  
  How far away from the JW cult mind is that?????

  i was having lunch last week with my mom and she dropped the a-word on me.

  my mom started off the lunch speaking about what a disappointment i was to her that my wife and i had put our little girl into a christian private school.

  i posted on an earlier thread that my wife and i now have a 6 year old beautiful little girl that we're adopting.

  How many of you have food stored in case of an emergency??

  good evening everyone,.

  another topic here made me think of the mormons who are counseled to have a years worth of food on hand in the event of an emergency.

  food, water, money and gas are all things suggested to save.

  Like the others who live in earthquake prone areas, we do keep some water and canned goods and some bleach to disinfect as a standard supply we replenish monthly.
  
  In October 1989 there was a big earthquake here which affected many.
  
  But even then, many areas were not so affected and so commerce continued.
  
  Its a good idea to keep canned pet food and baby food and medical supplies.
  
  But keeping emergency equipment near the door? Not anymore. I did that for a while after the big earthquake as recommended then put it all away.
  
  
  I guess it is a good idea now and then to be reminded to be a little self sufficient in case of emergencies.
  
  
  What I would really miss is JWD!!!!!!!!!

  growing up i had a friend that was disfellowshiped for premarital sex, marrying someone out of his faith, and pretty much being a free thinker.

  to see what he went through at such a young age was painful to watch.

  years later i meet this wonderful man, who was raised as a witness.

  I have come to the conclusion that I DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT GOD, let alone that he loves me.
  
  And who's fault is that?
  
  
  I have spent years trying to contact Him and do things to attract him to me.
  
  
  Life is mysterious and wonderful and sucks all at the same time.
