I tried to make my presentations at the door very friendly and persuasive.
But I realized that the householder had to be in a certain mood and frame of mind to receive the info.
I felt no pain if they refused me. I was always polite. I felt it was their right and freedom to reject me.
At the hall, I figured out the method for giving talks and was able to throw talks together pretty fast if I had about an hour. I was always being called by the sisters to give their talks for them.
I mistakenly thought all this added effort and goodness on my part would be banked up somewhere for me to draw upon when I needed it.
Sister Goody Two Shoes always had to work in service with Sis. Retard Socially Challenged also.
Wow, was that a drag until I realized she could be persuaded to quit early and go garage saleing instead!!

How were your presentations?
by Mysterious inwere you the kind that stayed up for hours the night before finding the perfect point and the perfect scripture...or were you the one that was hastily trying to through something together the morning of and panicking when you realized the circuit overseer was visiting.
and then there was me...i was lucky if i knew which magazines were "it" for that week, lucky if id read more than the first page, and developed a good deal of improve skill when that 25% "at home" rate popped up on my 1 door in 10. eeps.
im not sure if anyone realized just how seat of the pants my approach to field service actually was.

FINALLY -- I get to move the H#LL out of here!!!!
by outnfree init's true!
as many of you know, i was divorced in may of this past year, but forced by financial circumstances to continue sharing the marital home with my ex-husband.
that situation alone is very stressful, but add to it my surgery/treatment for breast cancer and the fact that our house is still not on the market for sale (due to repairs that must be completed, but which i am unable to do and ex- doesn't care to do/take care of) was making me feeling like i was living in a holding tank instead of a home.

JW's on trick or treat night
by carla inhow did your jw families appreciate people knocking on your doors on trick or treat night?
ever answer the door and tell them how pagan they were?
we had one jw house that used to be totally dark except for the porch light so we could read their sign- we are jw's and do not celebrate halloween.

Uh...hi...
by klinton ini was looking around the internet, trying to locate an image of god's chariot to show someone, and i found this little place here.
it's...interesting.
as far as i can tell from poking around there seems to be a mix of the faithful, the inactive, and the disfellowshiped (like myself).

a By the love they have among themselves
by Crooked Lumpy Vessel ini dont know the hebrew word for fake love....but this is the love that i have seen over and over again.. last year my nephew married a sister from our hall.
this young man is a good hearted person and saved himself for marraige.
looking back now in hindsight, i dont think this sister was a virgin but i think she pretended as though she was one.

That is so sad. I'm sorry for everyone involved. So many mistakes were made. So many were wrong to speak the way they did.

A very powerful subject which calls for deep personal introspection. It is one thing to decide for oneself on this issue. It is quite another to legislate for others. As a deeply spiritual person myself I would have to bow to the higher powers and allow life to grow.

Chilhood family: when mom was alive we ate at the dinner table
after that it was in front of the t.v.
First marriage: Never ate together
Latest marriage: Husband insists on eating at the dinner table
At first I balked and hated it. Now I am into it and wax the dining table and place candles and a small vase of flowers and cloth placemats and napkins. The other day I made my first stuffed grape leaves with rice, broccoli, beets and potato salad. He looks forward to coming home and I look forward to his pleasure. We sit and he vents about his day. Our dinner lasts about 45 minutes.
I come from a dysfunctional broken home and a dysfunctional broken first marriage.
I am trying the Mars vs Venus approach and applying counsel from Ephesians and all good advice to make this marriage a happy one for us both.
