More drama between my mom and I

your great-aunt brittney died tuesday morning she was found on her kitchen floor dead.

her funeral was this morning.

I am so sorry for the loss of your Aunt. You have every right to be angry about the way the news was kept from you until it was too late for you to attend her funeral, and to be given this a a "reason"

I couldn’t take a chance on you showing up and the family would wonder how you found out.

She should be ashamed of herself, putting the opinion of a book publishing company pretending to be a religion ahead of what should be regarded as a family duty. In the circumstances, your reply shows a great deal of restraint.

this is what renewed my wt ire a little while back.. we were flooded .

we stayed with her jw aunt .

For the 1st 3 days, her aunt kept telling me out of the blue that "Armageddon's comin' ya know." Just like that. Out of no where, over and over like clockwork every half hour. No matter what was happening or what we were talking about, she'd pop up with, "Ya know, Armageddon's a comin!"

I can't imagine what even one day in the company of someone like that would be like. I'll bet you were relieved to get away from her.

truer words were never spoken.. for all of you who understandably miss your family, just think of the troubles those of us have to endure when some of our jw family refuse to shun us and make it their lifes work to 'encourage' your return to the cult with threats of imminent death by their ever loving god!.

We don't get visited as we are both disassociated, and on a list of places not to call on.

It's possible that an elder might call at some point, or so I hear, to ask us if we want to return, but they probably know the answer before they ask the question, so I doubt it will happen.

I know it's a lie, but someone who has never been a jw may not recognise it as such.

As for that comment about people coming back in the resurrection being saved - what are they being saved from? Not death, if they need a resurrection, they've died already. It's just a very contradictory paragraph, typical wts bullshit.

a little confused

i think my head is a little messed up from my recent relationship with a man who is a jw.

i attended a few meetings and bible studies with an older woman who i met at the first meeting.

i am not going to become a jw because i can't give up holidays and birthdays, but i do have a few questions.

Learning more about it, it just seems like a very strict lifestyle based on very narrow beliefs, but sometimes I catch myself thinking that maybe it isn't such a big deal. Is this how people get sucked in

Yes, that is often how people do get sucked in.

The jws are, on the outside, very loving people, (and some are genuinely like that, but not all), who are trained to make people welcome to their meetings, and in the indoctrination methods of their religion. The watchtower organisation is very good at fooling people into thinking it is a benevolent, loving organisation with it's members best interests at heart, when in reality it is a high control cult.

I am happy to see that you have decided not to be a jw, emilyblue. Whatever other decisions you make in life, whether right or wrong, you are making the correct decision on that.

Do they believe that they are the only ones who will be saved?

No. Millions that have lived in centuries past and who were not Jehovah's Witnesses will come back in a resurrection and have an opportunity for life. Many now living may yet take a stand for truth and righteousness before the "great tribulation," and they will gain salvation. Moreover, Jesus said that we should not be judging one another. We look at the outward appearance; God looks at the heart. He sees accurately and judges mercifully. He has committed judgment into Jesus' hands, not ours.

This is such an ambiguous answer, like their teachings. It's implying, without saying it outright, that to be saved now, you need to be a jw.

What i miss from being a dub

these are the things i remember always looking forward to as a dub and when they happened it was great.. last day of convention/assemblyend of the meetingend of the ministrywhen an event was interrupted thus endingif i had a responsibility to escape the mind-numbing boredomif a visiting speaker failed to make it for the sunday meeting and it only included the watchtowerwhen the sunday watchtower was just question & answer cos of the c.o visit, pity he then wasted all that saved time.no ministry after sunday meeting cos of some reasonwhen i faked illness or even death to get out of meetings/ministry etc

Hi KW13,

I used to look forward to all the things on your list, but I don't miss them now.

To experience any of them would mean going back to being a jw, which is
isn't something I'd ever contemplate doing.

Maybe miss them is the wrong term, looking back with fondness at the
better parts of being a ~~mindless wts clone~~ dub would be the way I would
put it.
