  Getting nervous

  i feel like i need to spill my feelings.

  after lurking on the site, i realize my story is like many here.

  the reason i am feeling nervous is that i have not broken the news to my parents yet about my inactivity as well as my standing as to what i think about this whole thing.

  Well done for making the break. I can imagine it will be difficult telling your parents
  the whole truth about how you feel, but for the sake preserving of your new - found freedom
  you may have to eventually.

  The elders may well ask you if you still believe that the wts is the truth if they do corner
  you, so try and avoid that at all costs. However you answer that question, they will try
  and use it to manipulate you - if you say yes, they will ask why you are not at meetings:
  if you say no, they will form a judicial committee to deal with you, and likely df you.

  I hope things go well with your sister and brother.

  I think I did a really bad thing.

  i do not attend the same hall as my boyfriend because he is currently reproved for being involved with me.

  i'm not a witness.

  he confessed to his elders that he had sex with someone outside of marriage after his second divorce was already final.

  Having read through this thread, I am in complete agreement with Penny here:

  Don't leave your forwarding address. Change your cell phone number. In fact, don't even tell him you are going. JUST BE GONE. And do whatever it takes to get him off your mind.

  In addition, you indicated in some of your posts that you studied with jws because your boyfriend wanted you to. My advice is to not just drop this man, drop the study and any association with the jws as well. I don't know how you feel about the watchtower, but I can assure you, if you become a jw you will be merely exchanging one controlling, abusive relationship for another one.

  Good luck with your move, and your future life. You deserve far better than this man, or his religion, has to offer you.

  Happy are those who are shunned!

  happy are the shunned, since they will have peace and quiet!!!

  truer words were never spoken.. for all of you who understandably miss your family, just think of the troubles those of us have to endure when some of our jw family refuse to shun us and make it their lifes work to 'encourage' your return to the cult with threats of imminent death by their ever loving god!.

  Yes you would think that Gill. The ones we see around here seem to have their act together in that way lol.

  Apparantly she saved me from being a Catholic......she had me dunked as a baby. I said I was forced by her and WT doctrine into being dunked at 15. She insisted I 'wanted' to be baptised and couldn't understand that the threats of imminent destruction by above mentioned 'loving' god could drive many a sane person to be partly drowned in a paddling pool infront of hundreds!

  I was dunked as a baby in a Cof E church. I don't remember it, I was about 3 months old, so I'm told. I was dunked into being a jw at 41, old enough to have more sense really, in 1992 at Hellaby - maybe you've been there? A former friend of mine took a couple of photos of me being dipped, which Linda occasionally threatens to scan and post. They are well hidden now however, I have bad enough memories of that day without seeing a reminder of it on here.

  We don't care for being judged either, though I'm sure it happens fairly regularly behind our backs. I know I'm one of the more unpopular ex jws with current members around here because of my website. I expect they think jehoopla will get me for that, but I'll take my chances.

  Thankyou for the laugh, I just read your post out to Linda, and we are both having a good giggle.

  Fortunately, neither of us have any jw relatives, but we are both happily shunned by many of our
  former so-called friends. I suppose they think that jehoobie is going to get us as well, we don't say
  anything good about him or his org, and bullshit is a term often used here in relation to wts teachings.

  WE said a lot more....all of it a waste of time but when I blamed her for dragging the whole family into a CULT she went totally balistic and slammed the phone down on me!!! Hurray!!

  I would love to have been listening in to that one lol!

  But if the kids aren't baptized then are they 'ministers'?

  Not exactly, but they can be unbaptised publishers, and count their time, which helps the wts stats, and we all know how much they love their stats.

  Jehovah's happy, contented, sheeplike proclaimers of the joyful news about the established kingdom of God which has been in place since 1874, 1914 and perhaps other times, all realise that having a pot to pee in and a Watchtower magazine are all an honest-hearted Christian really needs for genuine happiness! [Madonna 12:24]

  Why did they not try to 'Save' me?

  i have pondered this question on many occasions.

  when i began to have 'doubts' and began to 'question' some doctrine, and particularly the lack of christian love, very little effort was made to 'snatch me out of the fire' as elders are admonished to do.

  i have always wondered why we as jw's would spend countless hours trying to start bible studies with 'wordly' people, while at the same time ignoring those who are moving away from dead center of the organization.

  When I resigned as a ministerial servant and told the elders I was having a few doubts, they did try and "readjust my thinking", in their words, a couple of times while I was still attending meetings, and offerred to come and study with me, but I turned down the opportunity.

  After I walked out of the kh for the last time in November 1999, they called a few times in early 2000, but left me alone after that, till they hunted me down again in July 2005, to see how I felt about going back. I told them that I no longer believed in any of their bullshit, and wrote a letter of disassociation a week or so after their visit.

  They didn't make much of an effort to win me back really, not that I'd have gone back if they had.

  As to how long people spend on the act, it's anyone's guess. I never asked anyone that lol

  It was really bad when the brother giving a talk on family life wasn't even married

  I managed to avoid having to give any like that, thankfully.

  It was bad enough having to give the number 4 talk on mastrurbation at the tms. Thank goodness it was only a 5 minute job, rather like the act for some perhaps.
